I agree. I watched the BET performances on youtube and was surprised that to see all the ladies who performed. It was way too much skimpy outfits and twerking for my liking. BET Awards been going down hill, but not I won't even bother to watch the highlights at this point. Yes Lauryn did amazing, but the performance Victoria did with Teyanna was better than her solo. And lets be real her performance with Teyanna was fire, but with the over sexualization of the whole show, just made me not like it as much. Its very clear that no one who is black owns BET, because they are clearly supporting a certain image of black excellence. Or it could be others just didn't want to come.
This is the most informative, on point commentary I've heard in forever. Thank you Jason Lee. I wish I lived in the Stockton area just so I can vote for you. It just doesn't get more real this you.

I have a question. What happened to a sincere apology? It seems like all we get these days are apologies driven by PR teams, managers, agents etc for the performance of it all on social media. Angela is a grown, intelligent female. She knew that by taking the gun purse to an awards show she would create a stir all over socials & the media which, IMO, was her full intention (cuz here I am talking about it). It was evidenced not only by the color matching to her gown, therefore glamourizing the object, but also the repeated posing & pointing of the gun bag as a real weapon for SEVERAL photo opps. I don't know this woman , but I can say, with respect, that it was disappointing to see a beautiful person misjudge such a sensitive subject because of what the world's going thru (& has been for FAR too long). And especially knowing her personal losses to gun violence. But, I also agree with Jason. Our level of outrage needs to be heightened, it needs to be louder AND it needs to be pointed in the RIGHT direction. If not, I'm afraid we will completely wipe out several generations of beautiful ppl. Look. I don't profess to have the answers. Even though I'm not a gun owner, I understand they have a place & a use in hunting & sport, in personal protection etc. I just don't think hunting each other with ANY type of gun for ANY reason is required, needed or necessary. I think that gun violence needs to be strongly addressed by our government, present & future. Laws & licenses need to be tightened & punishments for gun violence more severe. *That goes for the U.S and Canada btw*

I hope you and Amanda can talk it out. I agree that what she did with the award show invite was fowl, but I feel it could've been a conversation instead of an impulsive post. Amanda's story has been consistent regarding Issa's assistant, but in the Shay Shay interview she stated that she felt Issa didn't do enough to check her assistant. She also stated that Issa began to view her as her character Tiffany and not as Amanda, and didn't feel comfortable addressing their issues. I think at this point Amanda is anti-Hollywood and that she scoffs at anything remotely associated with it.
