I wanted to point out some features that were missed, in case anyone is going to consider this car. I do think this was a great review and this is the second time I have watched it:
    1. There are two USB ports in the third row as well, hidden in the left storage compartment.
    2. There is a rear intermittent wiper concealed behind the rear spoiler. (I missed this the first time too.)
    3. There are velcro strips on the back of the third row seats that the hanging pull straps attach to.
    4. The compact spare tire is stored under the vehicle, under the second row right passengers side.
    5. There are black roof rack side rails on top. There used to be cross rails as well, but Toyota removed this feature.
    6. The driver's seat is power, heated 8-way, while the front passenger seat is power, heated 4-way.
    7. There are windshield wiper de-icer strips embedded in the glass for both the front an rear windshield wipers, so snow doesn't build up.
    8. The engine is 6-cylinder, 3.5 liter, and DOHC with 24 valves and uses a timing chain with an 8-speed automatic transmission.
    9. This is a front wheel drive car, although AWD is also available (though it uses run-flat tires and has no spare).
    10. The two front cup holders in the center console, as well as the center console storage compartment, are illuminated.
    11. All three of the second row seats can be easily removed, to make more room for storage.
    12. More safety features:
    TPMS monitor
    Hill assist control
Front collision mitigation system with pedestrian sensor, warning sound, and autonomous braking
    8 air bags
    4 wheel ABS
    stability control
    brake assist
    electronic brakeforce distribution
electric dual rack and pinion power steering
    security system with engine immobilizer
    vehicle tracking with Toyota SafetyConnect
    valet function
    auto on/off headlines
    daytime running lights
    automatic highbeams
    child safety locks
LATCH system in 5 of the 6 rear seats
one-touch up/down power windows, sliding doors, and liftgate with anti-jam sensors

This review is more thorough, with more information, than you would get at a car dealer if you were buying, or had just bought, the vehicle. We are in the process of buying a Sienna XLE, and having it modified at VMI for a wheelchair vehicle. From all I have gathered, the Sienna is much better as a modified wheelchair vehicle than the Honda Odyssey. For one thing, it is bigger inside than the Honda.

Excellent review. I agree with the last comment. Minivans (Sienna) are seriously the real deal in family travel. Those with crossovers are just following the masses in an imaginary travel. I myself was once a crossover user over the years (Pilot, Edge and Highlander) till I tried the 2015 Sienna. Functionality and practicality are the key factor to any family travel on road and Minivans (Sienna) delivers just that. I lease my cars and picked up another Sienna xle 2018. Best decision you can ever make!

Unless I just missed you saying it, you missed an important point. With the back seats folded down and the middle seats removed (which isn't hard at all, but a little heavy) you can fit full sheets of plywood flat on the floor. That's how the wife tricked me into buying her one. I said "yeah sure we will trade the truck in if you can find one that I can load full sheets of plywood into." Now I own a 2014 limited and *gasp* love the stupid thing!

I love this review and I liked that you showed the paint job at the beginning. A very minor point: at 10:15, the reason the dome light does not come on is not because the vehicle is turned off, but because the switch for the dome lights is on "off". It it were on "auto", it could be turned on.

I have to comment on your presentation. I had this car as a loaner whilst my new Chevy Traverse was being repaired. I needed quick info and looked on the Net. I found this and ALL of the things that I wanted to know you covered. One of the main features was where and how the Cruise control worked. Other explanations also helped. I couldn't find a review by you for my 2021 Traverse but I found an excellent 2018 review that I believe for the most part fits. They really didn't change much and your review was/is excellent. Thanks muchly

FYI I have bought 2 new honda odysseys and had minor problems but never had problems with new toyotas. I just bought a 2018 xle sienna with a 6K discount honda gave me 1K off msrp- FYI this minvan is very fast and powerful--it is a very comfortable van but the odyssey is a tad bit more sporty- better tires on the toyota can compensate for soft ride..Steering wheel has excellent resistance..

One thing I find strange is the lack of the XLE Navigation Package for $1310. All XLE's, except those in blizzard pearl, must have this feature according to the factory's Build a Toyota website, unless special ordered via the Internet Department at the dealer. Apparently, it works differently if this car is sold to the dealer through a Toyota distributor instead of directly from the factory in Princeton I would have preferred the XLE package over the add-ons the distributor added, as they are much better: rear parking sonar, Driver EasySpeak, and Entune 3.0 Audio Premium .

i prefer the exterior styling of odyssey and even interior on odyssey is more "Acura-esque" whereas Sienna's interior doesn't really resemble that of Lexus. having said that being able to push 2nd row all the way back with its rail system to give that unreal amount of space is 1 feature i go absolutely cannot live without.

Navigation is important safety tool so that driver's does not have 2 rely on. I guess from App. U could have clearly state whether or not 2018 XLE has navigation package. You could have used hand instead of key fob 2 open rear lift gate, since everyone can see lift gate open in key fab, but not on lift handle no back where it is hand movement identification or physically have 2 lift it? Otherwise, good job why I just subscribed.

I'm a little confused. At 8:32 it shows a 120V AC power outlet, yet, as far as I know, the XLE does not have this; only the XLE Premium and above. And this is not an XLE Premium since the Maroney label showed at the end showed only XLE, and there is no standard Blu-ray entertainment system that an XLE Premium has. Here is the Toyota brochure which describes the options:
    www.toyota.com/sienna/ebrochure/
It's a possibility that Toyota forgot to add this in the brochure, or that this is a special order from the Internet Department. They have the power to configure the car in many different ways.

Did you see all those rip-off distributor add-ons at 36:08 on the Maroney label? Paint protections and phone cords? $699 for two oil changes? LOL They don't even include a USB C cord for the new Samsung Galaxy S8 and Note8 phones. These distributor add-ons must be an southern thing. That doesn't happen at the Northern and Southern California and Denver Toyota regions.,

Southeastern and Gulf States are the only two Toyota distributors in the US.

Thank for that pic. For the one in the video, they might as well just add ToyotaCare Plus (prepaid maintenance plan) from Toyota Financial Services. Only a little more, and you get the car covered for 5 years/60,000 miles, and that includes air filters too: www.sc.toyotafinancial.com/web/tfs/pub/contents/ToyotaCarePlusBrochure.pdf

After watching this video, i think the 2018 Honda Odyssey EX blows this 2018 Toyota XLE out of the water. The Odyssey is not perfect but for roughly the same price, you get a lot for your buck. Unlike the Sienna, it doesn't give you an option for an AWD, but that really depends on your geographical area so for the most part maybe FWD is sufficient enough. Besides, opting for the Sienna AWD version means losing a passenger seat which is a bummer. With the technology already available on other makers, there is still "NO" Apple Carplay or Android Auto?
Nevertheless, this is a nice review...

Everything about this just screams old parts bin. Plastics from the 90s, reused bits from other vehicles in Toyotas lineup, bland interior, and almost unforgivable crash test results.
Sorry Toyota but my money goes to Chrysler Pacifica. That's how you do the minivan.

  • @radius8283
    @radius8283 5 ปีที่แล้ว

DO NOT BUY this vehicle! This Sienna platform has a tire issue and potential safety issue that Toyota have not addressed yet. You will notice the excessive and uneven tire wear at 13K to 16K miles which it already out of warranty at 12K or 12 months and won’t cover even with extended warranty! Buy a different minivan not this! Honda has more features at the same price!
