The items you sell are so easy to find in the northeast. I moved from NYS to Texas, and the sourcing here is very different. No more paper, no more brass uniform buttons, but mid century is off the charts! I’ve learned what can be found for resale is extremely regional.
The button from Caius College was interesting, Caius is one of the oldest and largest colleges of the University of Cambridge. It was founded in 1348! The Boat Club was founded in 1827. Haven't sold anything on eBay for a long time, your video has inspired me to try listing some stuff again. Might try selling off some of my knick knackery stuff! Have a great Christmas, best wishes from across the pond :-)
I go to the goodwill bin store all the time, walk in and go thru everything that been searched and find things all the time. People overlook so much stuff it's crazy
Oh my goodness what area do you live in to be able to find these things? I live in st Petersburg, Fl and it just seems like its difficult especially with all the other resellers out there 😕 I need to look a little better when I go out thrifting 🙂
😮...Yeah, extremely good video...💯✔ It indeed gave me some good ideas...👍🏼 But what exactly are those labels thingys...🤔 Are they off of a bottle, or can they be, or what exactly should I be looking for with labels, because I really didn't understand what they were exactly...❓❓❓
The Nativity sets will always be a best seller. That is simply because of what the true meaning of Christmas really is. Before the commercialization of Christmas, it had real meaning rooted in the celebration of a birth, a life. Now, some celebrate a man with a beard in a colored suit who will bring you the latest electronics. Often, I celebrate the meaningful things, like the health of a child, friendship, and family. Merry Christmas, blessings, and joy.
One of the best channels on youtube! A wealth of knowledge. I was wondering if you could explain your discount system. I always see different percentages off as discounts. Do you automatically price high and add a certain percentage off? Is it after time? Thanks!
I love the stuff everyone else passes up. Very little clothing is left in favor of in demand hard goods. I have a personal collection of demo 45 records from the early 60's. The local radio station had a contest every night at 7. The DJ played a record backwards and the first caller to guess it right won the right to go to the studio and pick from a gigantic pile of records. We were very good at the game, dialing on a rotary phone, holding the last digit and releasing it to give us a slight advantage over other callers. One gem in this collection is a limited release 45 in the sleeve based on the new first family (JFK). Side note. We had a farm vegetable stand in our front yard back then. One customer was a cook who worked at the Kennedy compound in Hyannis Port and served some of our produce to the President and others visiting for the weekend. Beets was one of the items on this particular day. This was around the time when the Russians were sending missiles to Cuba. I think it was a little after. The soup of the day was Borscht.
I want to a wholesale jewelry show in Washington DC one time. I talked to a nice Japanese dealer who was the member of the family that owns a business. All they sold was gold filled jewelry. He told me that gold filled jewelry is the same color the whole way through the same medal. He said that was because there is gold and then they put a certain measurement of another metal in with it. So the Finish if you both it will come back because probably what looks like where is really tarnish. He said it was better than buying gold plated because gold plated the gold wears off. But even in gold filled if there's wear it's not going to change the color of the piece

Don, I am in desperate need of help, please. When I research something, it seems to take me forever to find information. I don't know a good research tool for the items I have. Also, I am at a loss for the "buzz" words that I need to use to sell my items. Is there a site you use? My sales on Posh for the last month are zero and I am looking at everything to try to resell my listings. Thank you, Don and God bless you and your beautiful family
Don to you and your entire staff Merry Christmas or Happy Holidays. I am sounding like a broken record when I state that you provide actionable information. Your statement of "knowledge is power" in this business is 100% correct as the playing field is a level one except for that. I cannot emphasize any more about your generosity in providing this information as it works. During the year, I look for ways in which to improve my online operations. Your youtube channel has been one that has been phenomenal and I recommend it often to friends in the business. Thanks again and all the best.
I have some experience in an AOR station while in high school and your def of AOR and ours was very different. I did some internet searching before I posted and I see that the AOR title was abused severely so I guess that's understandable. The stations that I worked at in the late 70s/early 80s did not consider "hair bands" AOR. Where I was from, it's stuff like Yes, Emerson Lake and Palmer, Pink Floyd, concept albums like the early Operation Mindcrime by Queensryche, stuff like that. Boston's first album at the fringe. I had shows both in high school and in college on the radio and I played what you would call "getting high" or "good trip" music like above. I still remember when "The Wall" came out and I got to hear it for the first time in very expensive surround sound headphones. That kind of stuff.
I get your view on it, but from the collector side I would not consider Boston, Pink Floyd or Emerson Lake AOR. Those would be more of a traditional release. Operation Mindcrime on the other hand was marketed back then as a concept album, and a very good one as well. I've owned that one since it was released. By the general standards it would be the closest to AOR but would be a little late to qualify in my book. I'm sure there maybe different interpretations of the use though, but I've used the same thoughts for 20 years when selling them .
Ephemera is collectible, and crafters also use it. Look for old paper items. Fontanini is expensive, sold by the Fontanini company or in "antique" shops. Never pass up any Fontanini.
I am definitely going to start paying more attention to post cards, buttons, and labels. I can’t even imagine how many I have passed by while looking for something else...
I found it interesting you didn't add the actual writing on the last button. I always think people might be looking for the exact button and put the wording in the search. This was good information for me. Thanks!
Promo records are worth more because DJs usually only played them a few times so they're generally in pretty good shape. They're rarer too of course. Lol
I'm thinking of getting into postcards once I transition over to managed payments and up my store game. I'm considering just buying a bunch of bulk lots of vintage used ones, no more than 25 cents cost per unit. Is that the way to go? Also, do I need to get sleeves for them to ship them, or should I just spend my money on the stiff mailers? I want to put in as little capital as possible and get maximum profit margin. I'm hoping I can beat used clothing profits, which are an average net of around 2 bucks per item. Can I make at least that much on every single postcard? I've been looking at some vintage listings; the average price I'm seeing with shipping included is around $7. Would it be good to set that as my base price with free shipping for anything I can't comp? I'm all about the quick nickle and maximizing sell-through rate, but I don't want to undervalue anything.
Hi, thank you. Do you have advice on finding vintage items to resell in the covid era? No yard sales, estate sales or auctions in person for the next several months, plus winter where I live through March at least.
When my town (briefly) closed down for Covid I turned to buying underpriced things I found right on Ebay. By the time stores reopened here, I barely even wanted to go because I can find so much more, for such less money, on ebay. I'm being vague on purpose regarding what kinds of items because I'm into such a wide variety and have no idea what categories you're into. But definitely don't assume that all other ebay sellers are smart cookies who know the value of things like you do. Even figuring in shipping cost you might be shocked what great hauls of stuff you can get for cheap. One thing to keep in mind is that a lot of people are struggling and just trying to get hold of money any way they can think of, so they're going through their attics and garages, just trying to sell things fast without doing any research. Many of them are brand new sellers for that very reason, so don't be afraid to buy from them just because they don't have much (or any) feedback yet. Keep in mind, ebay is on YOUR side as a buyer if someone tries to cheat you. #1 tip for sourcing items to resell on ebay: use the word 'lot' then you can scoop up quanties of whatever category you're looking for, at super cheap per-item cost. In fact check out 'junk drawer' lots and you'll see wide variety of categories in each lot--some of those are really cheap because most people aren't shopping for variety of stuff; they just want the exact thing they're looking for. And variety lots are so fun to unbox, ha. Anyway give it a whirl and come back here, tell me how it went.
Because we use the 0 quantity option, which means they never end even when they sell. None of those will show up in the solds. It's a setting anybody can use as well in the Hub.

As I said in the video that Latin text is used on dozens of things so it's unimportant. It's the club tie in that matters.
