Just wanting to say thank you for this video.
Granted, I encountered it a whole lot longer than you'd put it out, but still..
I was hoping you'd do this too where I kept seeing your bucksaw end up in a bunch of videos but had no idea how to put one together.

      Shawn,
The blade used in this video appears more robust then the blade I'm using. Do you know the manufacturers name? Thanks Mark

I had to come back and revisit this video to teach my daughter how to make one of these. I have never bought a buck saw since I've learned how it's cheaper more efficient and economical just to carry the blade thank you. That it will cut comment well let's just say I have Earl Gray now dripping out my nose from laughing. Thank you devil dog I appreciate what you do for us by making these videos. My daughters and I watch your videos and we go camping and we pick one corporal Kelly's Bushcraft skill to learn you've brought us closer together you are an amazing man

    Saw buck is next?
I sawed along the ground once. My back said there must be a better way. I asked my dad, 91, he said everyone had a saw buck to go with the buck saw. I built a collapsible one. A Bushcraft one for an extended camp would be awesome!

You sir def make tying knots easy for the ones that have a learning curve... It's seriously like a slow-mo play by play! Some TH-camrs do it so fast I have to rewind a few times...

Eric Rosbottom I believe he’s done one, showing the lashing using a timber hitch, fraps, and finishing with a clover hitch. Very good video.

You know you could also jst slow down the playback. I've got mine at 1.5x speed.

    • @Jaden48108
      @Jaden48108 ปีที่แล้ว

Very true. I've learned most of the knots from the corporal who is deliberate, goes slow, and doesn't let his hands get in the way of showing how the knot is tied.

A good saw can be one of the best tools for bushcraft if not the best most essential.
YT is recommending so many of your videos now that I am finally catching up with you.

    Fantastic instructional video.
Had just watched some videos that were one way tickets to severing finger tendons, and a tool that would only cut branches, my knife would make short work of.
For a little more time and effort, you showed me how to make this beast.
I cannot wait for the summer, as I don't have the experience to survive colder weather safely.
    Once again, thank you.

I am prepping for the Pathfinder intermediate class in April. I have made 3 Bushcraft buck saws in the last 4 days. The first two were Dan Wowak style with the cordage securing the crosspiece. They seemed good, but not like they would hold up over time. Today I made your version. It looks outstanding, and feels much more solid. Thanks for your excellent instruction.

Where I live the closest to a buck saw I can get is a pack saw. Had one,got rid of it. Instructions are great and clear. Looking forward to finishing mine Tonight.

You could also use a constrictor knot to stop the branch from splitting, Much less rope needed. I build a bucksaw earlier today before watching this video. Mine was slightly different but still worked, not as good as I would have liked but it was my first time and now I know how to do it better next time.

If you saw a slit on the outside of each vertical ends, just deep enough for the blade - from one end to the other. You can break it all down, store the blade on the slits and move out! A couple of short Canadian jam knots to hold it all together.

Good to go! Debated about buying one of those nice folding or take down saws but after seeing your older video like this and this one as well, it makes more sense to just craft up a takedown buck saw using natural materials like this. If the saw should fail in the field you are able to make a quick repair. Thanks again for another outstanding educational and informative video.
