I have come to the conclusion that small local museums are much better than the larger national ones by a long way.

Great video on such an adorable little town!! It’s hard to wrap your head around how relatively quickly fishing went from dominating the community to now not even a single fishing vessel embarks from there. Strangely sad, in a way.
Interesting. I also took advantage of Heritage week and went to a church outside of Ipswich st Mary Stoke, not usually open but this time had a guide and my ancestor had married there in 1617. It was wonderful to see inside.

The museums are amazing and I would recommend them to anyone. Lowestoft on the other hand like most ex fishing towns in the country has seen better days
This was great! 😊👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏😉 When I cook and eat a fresh fish….I always give a thought to the fisherman risking their lives….and all the work it takes to get that fish to me 🐟I was shocked that is no more fishing industry in Lowestoft 😔 That museum was wonderful…I’ll plan a visit next time in the UK 👍👍
Given your name you might know who I mean the singer John Tams has a great very hunting song "How High The Price" about the struggles of fishermen that worth a listen.
That was amazing ,I have been to both the trawler & museum ,both highly recommended .The history of our town is incredible & we should be proud of where we live . That is from a new comer to the area .😊

A little bit of history, please read.
As you said in your video, you do intend to revisit this super interesting Maritime museum at some point.
You did also say a small bit about the Naval Museum, that’s only about 100 yards away. Both being at Sparrows Nest, lowestoft.
One day I did visit both museums and I absolutely loved the Naval Museum.
So when you do go, I do advise you to have a look round the Naval Museum.
There was a small entry fee, and to be honest, I can’t remember how much it was.
It is a very small museum over two floors, but I assure you it really is worth a visit.
It was absolutely worth every penny. I saw things in the museum. I really never expected to see.
Real samurai swords.
A real Vickers machine gun, and other guns.
A real German WW2 flag., amongst many other, extremely interesting World War II items.
There was also a World War II bunker on the same site that most people don’t know about.
The entrance to the bunker was actually just outside the entrance to the Naval Museum .
Hopefully the correct gentleman will be looking after the Naval Museum and fill you in on info about the bunker.
Also ask about the burials just outside the entrance.
Again, this is all very interesting if you have an interest in the Second World War.
I hope this helps you on your next visit.
The Canons and the war memorial are also well worth a visit on the same site.
Another museum you must see is Gressenhall Farm & Workhouse museum.
Its a full day out and you will need good walking shoes.
Again, there is a small fee for going in, but it’s well worth it.
