I agree that approaching any discussions to illuminate the differences in culture requires a sincere desire to be educated, a willingness to be vulnerable and listen to your partner’s point of view because in this context they are subject matter expert!!! Been married to my black wife for 38 years now. If I could do something different at the start, I'd take a cosmetology course and learn how to take care of black hair. I would gladly do that.

I’m gonna be honest- I’ll say yes! But totally on my part. I realize it took a long time for me to open up, but many things in our relationship went at a slow pace… he’s my first *real* boyfriend and on top of that my first white boyfriend! So I guess I was treading extra lightly… Hope that makes sense! Thanks for watching and commenting xxx
