It's a really special thing to be able to see such a high-quality channel in its early stages like this. Your joke about being a shill to Raid Shadow Legends a year from now hit a little too close to home, it's painful to see so many of my favorite content creators slowly loose the spark that originally drove them to create good content, in favor of more profitable algorithm-pleasing garbage. I'm really glad to be here for the beginning of this journey, and I really can't wait to see where you go with this channel. Keep up the good work, we're all rooting for you :)
Dude I didnt even notice your lisp until you mentioned it. Your voice is hella soothing and I love it. plus, the pauses help me keep up with what you're saying instead of losing track like when some people speed-talk with word-vomit. Keep bein yourself and doing what you like, and you can't go wrong. I have notifications on for you and I cant wait to see what you do next! Regarding intros or outros: just dont have a noise or music jumpscare that's way too loud like some youtubers, and i dont mind whatever you do. For your geology stuff, I've heard the Teralith mod has more realistic generation for rocks, so maybe that could be something you could check out? Loved learning geology with you, and cant wait to learn more! Especially with the 1.20 update, adding archeology and weird ancient fauna/flora. Also; omg i cant wait to hear about your aussie outback trip when you get back, that sounds awesome!
Yeah, whenever I click on a video and the opening is too high energy for what the content is, i just click off. I want to find something that works with me. What I'm doing in Australia involves some interesting structural geology in a very old part of earth. I'll have to think about how to talk about it.
Feel like the creativity output on this channel is fantastic and really nessecery for this current state of the Minecraft community. Feels great to be a subscriber!
You remind me very much of those little minecraft channels that I watched in early 2010 and am still nostalgic for them. You have this spark of creativity, the desire to do something interesting and show it just because you know that it's something unusual and cool. Somehow even your microphone is very similar to them.
My parents are geologists who went to Colorado School of Mines in the ’70s-‘80s. I showed them the caves video and they were impressed! Teaching through video games, movies, etc. is such a great way to learn new things. I’m in school to be a dietitian, and I’m thinking about making a video about how food works in Minecraft compared to the real world.
I have a shirt from there! A dietitian is really cool, its a very important field that most people have a lot of misunderstanding of (the whole food pyramid etc).
I've been working on a personal modpack focused around food and farming mods, enhanced natural realism, and create. There's lots of fun mods out there that extend the variety of foods and food effects, some pretty realistically and some not so much, but I'm definitely trying to keep it balanced. I'd def watch a vid on the games food system or food mods from a dieticians POV! also how random to find your comment, mentioning CSOM. I was just coming to say I find Gneiss's manner of speaking relaxing (don't take the haters too seriously) and that his voice and delivery reminds me of the podcast series that got me interested in earth science in the first place, which was actually by a professor at CSOM. It was the Earth and Environmental Systems Podcast by Christian Shorey. The first half is literally earth sci 101 subject by subject, and the second half is basically "walking the timeline" but the audio version. I ended up studying and getting a degree in earth science because of that podcast, and I've relistened to the whole series a few times over the last 13 years, and Gneiss' vids always remind me of that. Fun educational content changes lives!
i love the atmosphere you create in these videos! it's so cozy and warm. also i think the slower talking pace is perfectly fine; together with the lack of bgm it feels like a friend is talking to me, rather than me consuming a piece of content. i think this is one of the main reasons why many of us sticked to the channel, so i don't think you should feel any pressure to add bgm or an intro :)
I also enjoy your manner of speaking. You remind me of Etho in many ways. I think it is safe to say ,after your recent growth spurt, you are probably safe to stay just the way you are 😊 I have been sharing links with my little server group of friends and family. I hope your channel succeeds to the point of being profitable for you because the work you do is valuable and you deserve compensation.
regarding the speed/nature(?) of your speech: it's actually the slower pace and more meandering quality that drew me to your videos. it's very different from most other mc channels today, but it reminds me of the older days of mc videos in a very good way. regarding music: c418 (the original composer for minecraft's music) has a couple other albums not related to his work on the game. i recommend looking into his album 'one', as it has a similarly chill, ambient feel.
Congratulations on the 10 000 subscribers mate! I only found your channel a couple weeks ago with the missing colours video, but you're already one of the few TH-camrs I actually have notifications on for. I like your calm style of delivery, and as someone pursuing a very niche field it's refreshing to see someone who is so clearly passionate about their area of expertise. I look forwards to seeing where you'll be in another year or two. Good luck in outback, and here's to further success with your channel and your career.
great channel, I love watching someone use minecraft as a tool to help explain a topic they are knowledgeable in. whitestonejazz does similar with math, both very educational and entertaining. keep it up
Hey, I like whitestonejazz too. Since he has been doing repeating patterns, I may reach out to him to see if he would collaborate on a mineral crystal structure video.
Interesting concept: everyone has their own speed of thought. The time it takes to process input, formulate a response, and articulate that response. Typically people gravitate towards others who have similar thought speeds. Someone who speaks too quickly tends to lose others who don't process as fast, while someone who speaks too slowly is typically irritating because one finds themselves hanging on every word waiting for the next portion of a sentence. Tuning how quickly or slowly you speak can have a drastic effect on the amount of audience satisfaction you get.
I just want to say, I have a similar lisp to you, and your confidence has inspired me. I was always afraid people would judge me and I wouldn't be able to get people interested, but now I feel confident that if I can make interested content, people will still watch.
It's always very reassuring to see someone so knowledgeable and passionate develop a following on this platform, not to mention comforting to find someone with a similar approach to/relationship with content. Whether or not you consider it a metric of value or success, I'm confident your following will continue to grow, and I can't wait to see how this channel and its community expand and evolve over time!
I like the Slow talking and erms and pauses, it feels more natural and like a real person is talking to me, also the slow talking makes this easy to fall asleep to, which i've done numberous times so please don't change it too much!
Absolutely love the videos and i prefer your slow talking and your voice overall is soothing and fits the theme of you videos. Same with the lisp, doesn't bother me what so ever. Don't change yourself to fit other people, either they like it or they don't :) Anything regarding speech will just come with time and practice and you are already pretty good at it. Keep up the good work!
Keep up the great work man. I’m so glad to see such an understated TH-camr, finally get the recognition that they deserve. Your geologic videos really helped me in my science class since I find it hard to pay attention in it, but learning these things in a Minecraft point of view really helps me get engaged in the topic. Hope your channel continues to grow and help inspire more people like me. I have no doubt that you’ll be able to reach 100,000+ subscribers before you even know it. Keep it up, and have a great day👍
I found your channel via one of the geology videos and was instantly captivated. It's funny that this video is posted celebrating 10k subscribers and you're almost at 15k already.
I loved the intro to the map art building timelapse where you flew to the location (and also the "ice-skating"). I've not seen that done in Minecraft timelapses before. I guess it felt a bit like a hyperlapse in photography. The testing of the minecart linking was a very funny moment!
Building map art over an ocean with frost walker is absurdly genius... ive considered making a perimeter before just to make map art potentially easier to build lmao
Can’t wait to see how this channel continues to grow and I hope that you continue to produce content that you enjoy because that’s what we enjoy. Best of luck to your time in the outback!
I really like how you talk! You remind me a lot of Etho, who is really relaxing to listen and is a nice change of pace to most other content nowadays. I also never noticed your lisp and am having a hard time trying to hear it even after you mentioned it. Congrats anyway, excited for future videos!
I find the authenticity of your speech patterns part of the charm of this channel, I would say try to focus on being the best You, not the best TH-camr! If you want to work on reducing your lisp or speaking faster, that's okay, but only if that's a personal goal you have set for yourself! We want you to be The Authentic Mr. Gneiss Name ❤ We love your stuff and we look forward to seeing more of your stuff ❤ Take care!!
You've been doing such a great job, it's wonderful all that you've shared with us and that you're happy to do so at your own pace rather than chasing growth. Here's to what comes next! (Also your survival world looks amazing!)
You should be really proud! Can’t wait to keep learning and watching. Also your pauses and slow pace is why we watch you, a much needed reprieve from how fast paced 95% of other creators are.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with your delivery or anything that you need to work on with regards to it. Honestly, it was what attracted me, and I'm sure many others, to your videos on the first place.
I'd love to see a video exploring the flower patterns in flower forests. It's some sort of noise generation. Mainly I've been trying to build a flower farm and have had a hard to finding a spot that give me the most flower variety. If you haven't seen what I mean, look it up. Would likely make for an interesting video.
i love your slow pace. its a step back from the “algorithm” focussed style. change how you want but don’t listen to people saying you talk too slow or are bothered by ums and ahhs
Congratulations! I recently found your channel and I’ve been loving every bit of it, especially the geology series! Keep up the great work and here’s to 20k!
I really enjoy the pacing of your videos and talking speed etc, It is a lot easier to digest the information :) Congrats on 10K (almost 15K now haha) excited to see the future videos!
i have to say i love how you talk. You explained it well with words not being in your head. I have that a lot, but because of it i talk like it’s 4 people trying to talk at once. But you speak for me at least quite slow AND MY GOD is it relaxing to listen to like there is no rush at all. Keep it up!
8:22 Woah woah woah, the slow pauses and cadence are what makes your channel so nice to listen to. It's relaxing, and not rushed. Which is becoming harder to find as time goes on
When I first came across this channel I was kinda surprised you weren't already in the 100ks at least. I'm a huge fan of your style of speaking and it contrasts well to many other Minecraft creators who (since they're targeting a young audience) speak in a very exaggerated and quick way. It's nice to slow down for a bit and just chill. Your building style is also great, most people wouldn't go all out for 10k subscribers but your dirt map is amazing. I'm excited to see where the channel goes from here
Love this channel, please continue making videos! You have such a chill atmosphere to your presence that can be relaxing but also engaging and attention gripping. Can't wait for more. Best of luck and congrats on the milestone! 🎉
Congratulations on 14.9k (when I watch this)! 4:32 What mod or data pack is that? I want to sit places! I think Iʼve heard of it but I donʼt know where. I canʼt wait for the Q&A video and all the future plans you mention; it all sounds really cool!
Ive been making a lot of map arts myself recently, its a fun hobby. Also your montage reminded me that frost walker may actually be really helpful making these, as before i was just using a lily pad which took valueable inventory space.
This was my first, its something I have been wanting to do but I didn't think it would be a play button. I was going to use lillypads when I remembered that my daughter usually keeps a pair of frost walker boots on her.
I don't really mind you taking pauses or talking slow honestly. It's nice to have it be organic, I feel like trying to avoid that could lead to a lot more cuts (to skip pauses) in the video which I think breaks the pacing worse than a pause
I've been subbed since you had 1 thousand subscribers i think? memory has gotten foggy lately, you know how it is. It's so heartwarming to see you channel get even a fraction of the following that it deserves.
I have personally been wondering about your somewhat odd pronunciation of "ch" or "j" sounds, but not asked about it in the comments, so I'm interested to see what your response is in the Q&A video. Anyway, congratulations on reaching this milestone! You definitely deserve it.
I'm very happy that you're getting more attention :D Your content is incredibly interesting and I feel like I could watch the geology vids for hours on end ^^ Hope you have fun making more vids for us to enjoy and to learn from ;)
5:43 I struggle a lot with this. Finishing up my Senior year of High School right now means I *CAN’T* fail anything, not just for me either. It’s a big deal. Being the younger of two _somewhat _*_heavily_* neurodivergent kids, me graduating on time is a *huge* deal. My older brother, who’s 22, ended up needing to go to a separate school specifically built for people who haven’t graduated yet. My only remaining grandparent (grandmother on my momma side) has bought her flight ticket here for graduation. It’s a lot of pressure. I don’t _have_ time to sit down and record what I want, when I want to. It feels like I’m…stuck. For lack of a better word I can think of. It feels monotonous at times. Get up, go to school, come home, chill out, schoolwork, a little bit of gaming, bed. Rinse and repeat. Man, I *_am_* rambling. Sorry. Anyway, point is I struggle with both a lack of time management and just time in general, and I get the *need* for any project to either be perfect or “good enough” or it’s not completed at all. I hope you find creative ways to complete those projects, such as making videos. Overall I like what you’ve done with what I’ve seen so far, and I’ll stick around. I’m 9 months late, _and I don’t mind._
Maybe you could show the earth in Minecraft as an intro as it terraforms. I mean that in such a way that you take some pictures of how individual blocks slowly transform and then create out of it an stop-motion animation. If not everything makes sense, I’m sorry but I hope you understand what I mean. Oh and before i forget it I think you do a really good job how you speak in your videos. It feel more calm in a positive way
Congrats! For the record I don't mind watching someone who speaks more slowly, gives my brain more time to catch up sometimes, heh. I also am surprised to hear you have a lisp, as I did not detect it in the slightest and can't seem to notice it even with it brought to my attention.
I'd say speak however is natural to you in your videos- people who get hung up on line delivery are just being overly picky IMHO. I really appreciate your slower way of speaking personally, and it's far less common than the faster cadences. Slowness is valuable, doing everything in a hurry is a flawless way to become immensely miserable in life
I really like your channel, expecially the way you make this videos, they are much slower than typical mc video and it's so refreshing, pls keep it that way, also dont forget to not to lose happiness in what you do. You are great youyuber
i absolutely love your no music, slower manner of speaking, lisp, non professional editing, etc!! very relaxing and engaging while I try to do productive tasks (thanks ADHD lol). and ill watch pretty much anything you post, at least eventually oops. hope you+fam are doing well man!!!
that timelapse made me shed some tears dude! i havent been here for long but i'm really happy i discovered your channel, you've got such interesting perspectives on the game and it's speculative lore. as far as the lisp or how you speak, just be you, as you complete more videos you'll come into a natural flow that's completely your own. cheers dude! ( congrats on 24k c: )
I'm just gonna say, that dirt-tier play button section actually made me tear up. Which is weird, never do these DIY play button videos actually have that effect on me. But something about the way you edited it, the inclusion of your daughter in such an occasion, and the pleasant slow reveal as you look down on the map from the oddly beautiful structure. I think it would only work on your channel though. I came aboard with the Geology videos, and I think what keeps me loving your channel is the simple rawness of it. You are very honest with who you are. You talk about your family and your work, you don't hide your lisp (that I didn't even notice until other people pointed it out), you're clear about what you want these videos to be, and your meandering, calm tone gives my thoughts room to silently have their own side of the conversation and ruminate on what's being shared. To me, it's more akin to watching a lecture or something. And there's something very refreshing and therapeutic about that Thank you and have fun
honestly as fun hermitcraft is, it's pretty stressful i don't think gneiss is able to make a schedule and spend most of his day in Minecraft, also he has a job and a family i don't think he has enough time
@@RuleofThehyperbolic I was just thinking of his personality its very hermitcraft like and humble. and i dont think hermitcraft is such a harsh environment and if he feels stressed he can take a break or just leave. also if he joined hermitcraft it would grow his channel and he might be able to go full time on youtube. once again i just thought that his personality fits hermitcraft. making a hobby into a job can make it boring and unenjoyable. It would also be a challenge on its own to just join hermitcraft and its also up to him if he even wants to join hermitcraft which he might want to or not.
And as of 11 hours later, you have 14.9k subs :) I'm happy to have been here from 2k. Your lisp and slow speaking never bothered me, it helped me process what you were saying easier, actually. I'll stay here because I enjoy your content.
Didnt even notice a lisp, and I do think you should write scripts for any future educational content! I love your geology and color videos. I wish Minecraft lent more to the education of these concepts. I remember how my parents were shocked when I knew what "obsidian" was back when I first picked up the game.
I don't think you need to try to change the way you speak; how you talk now is very relaxing and nice to listen to! I didn't notice a lisp or overuse of filler words, and after it was pointed out I still didn't hear anything objectionable. I think part of it probably comes down to the image you want to project as a youtuber. To my ears, the occasional use of filler words and pauses when talking are charmingly casual and invite the viewer to watch, listen, and enjoy learning something or just be entertained by the presentation of the content. I did hear a few mic pops on plosives, but that should be solvable with just a pop filter or otherwise relatively minor changes to your recording setup. You said you're using "just an old USB mic," but honestly an XLR audio interface is far from necessary for a youtube channel. In terms of microphones that work over USB, I personally really like the Samson Q2U-It's pretty inexpensive and has a very favorable sound compared to more expensive dedicated XLR microphones. (The Q2U can be used with either USB or XLR, so it's a good choice if you do plan to buy an audio interface at some point-you won't need to buy a new microphone to benefit from it.) I'm far from an audiophile, but even if you stick with the microphone you have, it still seems to capture your voice pleasantly. Anyway. I don't think you should stress about trying to speak differently for the benefit of the audience. You sound good!
Thanks Sam, I figured most people don't mind and the ones that it really bothers are the ones that comment. Good to hear from people that its not much of an issue. I recently got a pop filter that I need to attach and the mic pops I think are a complication from my setup. I was going to do some streaming so I play on one computer and record on another. I had to use the program voicemeeter to hear and record at the same time. Its either the program or my recording computer, which is several years old and can't keep up sometimes.
It's a really special thing to be able to see such a high-quality channel in its early stages like this.

Yes! Please never lose that spark, your videos are super interesting and I’ve been following them for a bit now :)

You should be really proud! Can’t wait to keep learning and watching. Also your pauses and slow pace is why we watch you, a much needed reprieve from how fast paced 95% of other creators are.
I love the editing style and pacing of this channel
There is absolutely nothing wrong with your delivery or anything that you need to work on with regards to it. Honestly, it was what attracted me, and I'm sure many others, to your videos on the first place.
I like the slow talking. Most TH-camrs try to be stimulating with their speech and it’s nice to hear a mellow voice, especially on a Minecraft video
Damn
Being able to say something like "My dad makes YT videos about Minecraft" is something that I would love to say
Congrats on 10 000 subs! May you get even more for the amazing content you produce :D
I never thought I could tap into my geology and Minecraft passions at the same time. Your channel is truly ideal! Keep making videos.
Keep it up Gneiss, you're making great stuff, I'm sure it's inspiring plenty of new geologists! Congrats on 10k and climbing.
I love the way you talk, I’m sure that others will grow to appreciate your voice
Oh wow..
Your videos feel like seeing Minecraft for the first time again and experiencing it through videos
Congrats on 10K
i love your slow pace. its a step back from the “algorithm” focussed style. change how you want but don’t listen to people saying you talk too slow or are bothered by ums and ahhs
I really feel that you shouldn't worry about the detractors, keep doing what youre doing!
Congrats man. You’ll be at 100k by the end of the year I’m sure
Your content is like a time machine to the simpler times. Better times.
Dont ever change.
Wahoo I'm so glad I've been a part of your growth!
Same
i have to say i love how you talk. You explained it well with words not being in your head. I have that a lot, but because of it i talk like it’s 4 people trying to talk at once. But you speak for me at least quite slow AND MY GOD is it relaxing to listen to like there is no rush at all. Keep it up!
Great work! Really been enjoying your videos! It's a great way of learning about geology and color
Congrats on 10k!
Honestly, I don't mind the slower narration.
8:22 Woah woah woah, the slow pauses and cadence are what makes your channel so nice to listen to. It's relaxing, and not rushed. Which is becoming harder to find as time goes on
Happy to see this growth :D
When I first came across this channel I was kinda surprised you weren't already in the 100ks at least. I'm a huge fan of your style of speaking and it contrasts well to many other Minecraft creators who (since they're targeting a young audience) speak in a very exaggerated and quick way. It's nice to slow down for a bit and just chill. Your building style is also great, most people wouldn't go all out for 10k subscribers but your dirt map is amazing. I'm excited to see where the channel goes from here
I'm proud to say I binged watched your channel after I found out about you.
Thanks!
I love the way you talk, slow or not, it's calming :3
Wow! You've been 1k subs just about a month ago and now by the time I'm typing this, you're close to 15k! I really want to see your channel growing!
Love this channel, please continue making videos! You have such a chill atmosphere to your presence that can be relaxing but also engaging and attention gripping. Can't wait for more.
Best of luck and congrats on the milestone! 🎉
the way you talk feels like a good part of your style!
I was going to use lillypads when I remembered that my daughter usually keeps a pair of frost walker boots on her.
regarding sound quality 9:40 I think your mic (and voice) sounds great!
I am now subscribed. You make such interesting content, any chance you could do more on caves?
Wow, your channel has grown so quickly
I don't really mind you taking pauses or talking slow honestly. It's nice to have it be organic, I feel like trying to avoid that could lead to a lot more cuts (to skip pauses) in the video which I think breaks the pacing worse than a pause
I was here for 10k!
Glad you like it Sky.
I've been subbed since you had 1 thousand subscribers i think? memory has gotten foggy lately, you know how it is. It's so heartwarming to see you channel get even a fraction of the following that it deserves.
Thanks StarHorder
I have personally been wondering about your somewhat odd pronunciation of "ch" or "j" sounds, but not asked about it in the comments, so I'm interested to see what your response is in the Q&A video. Anyway, congratulations on reaching this milestone! You definitely deserve it.
I'm very happy that you're getting more attention :D Your content is incredibly interesting and I feel like I could watch the geology vids for hours on end ^^ Hope you have fun making more vids for us to enjoy and to learn from ;)
Congrats on 10K, you're awesome!
It feel more calm in a positive way
i think the way you talk is soothing
holy moly!
You are great youyuber
i think being a slow talker is part of what i enjoy about your channel and videos :) the simplicity is nice
i absolutely love your no music, slower manner of speaking, lisp, non professional editing, etc!! very relaxing and engaging while I try to do productive tasks (thanks ADHD lol). and ill watch pretty much anything you post, at least eventually oops. hope you+fam are doing well man!!!
Thanks, I really enjoy making the videos and sharing what I’m interested in.
that timelapse made me shed some tears dude! i havent been here for long but i'm really happy i discovered your channel, you've got such interesting perspectives on the game and it's speculative lore. as far as the lisp or how you speak, just be you, as you complete more videos you'll come into a natural flow that's completely your own. cheers dude! ( congrats on 24k c: )
Thanks. I have really enjoyed making the videos and sharing what I find interesting.
And there's something very refreshing and therapeutic about that
Thank you and have fun
Thank you Dakedres, that’s very kind. I’m glad that you like what I’m doing.
And are you gonna livestream mabye? I love your content, its so chill! Can be in background, while coding or just watching!
I just want to hear more about geology. That's all I need
ngl but he would be perfect for hermitcraft
honestly as fun hermitcraft is, it's pretty stressful i don't think gneiss is able to make a schedule and spend most of his day in Minecraft, also he has a job and a family i don't think he has enough time
@@RuleofThehyperbolic he could be a _hermit_ on hermitcraft, like tfc was
@@RuleofThehyperbolic I was just thinking of his personality its very hermitcraft like and humble. and i dont think hermitcraft is such a harsh environment and if he feels stressed he can take a break or just leave. also if he joined hermitcraft it would grow his channel and he might be able to go full time on youtube.
once again i just thought that his personality fits hermitcraft. making a hobby into a job can make it boring and unenjoyable. It would also be a challenge on its own to just join hermitcraft and its also up to him if he even wants to join hermitcraft which he might want to or not.
I was thinking the same thing. Feel like him and Etho would get along really well

Hi! I hope that you'll reach a million subscribers soon.
Congratulations! Keep up the great work. o/
And as of 11 hours later, you have 14.9k subs :) I'm happy to have been here from 2k.
Your lisp and slow speaking never bothered me, it helped me process what you were saying easier, actually. I'll stay here because I enjoy your content.
10:50 on the monetary thing, it could be worth putting a paypal link for people to tip you if they want to :D
Omg it’s you!
Your the one who didn’t have that many subs when I first saw you! And now you do!
You will be one of the new greates, they needed to catch up on the 6 years of minecraft youtube you weren’t posting
i actually prefer the way you speak, the pacing is good. also, ive never noticed your lisp haha.
