I have this for my Pomeranian. I started with letting him get the food with the bones seated in their slots, leaving the drawers unlocked. He caught onto that pretty quick. Next I locked the drawers but put small dabs of peanut butter on the bones. That worked really well, letting him unlock the drawers but I could tell he wasn't making a connection between the bones and the unlocked drawers. Now though I simply give him the locked puzzle and let him at it. He picks up the corners and drops the puzzle. The vibration from the impact eventually jars the bones into their slots. He's then very good about pulling the drawers open to get his dinner. This is an ingenious puzzle 👏 but needs a dog a lot smarter than my pom to work it properly! 😂
I definitely think this puzzle is a hard level 3 with the bones 'locked'! Happy to hear your Pomeranian enjoys it. A lot of the dogs here do the same thing, where it will come off the ground and bounce down to open more of the drawers, too.
Hi! My dog loves your puzzles. But he doesn’t want to work on Level 3 and above. All Level 2 puzzles he worked through, but he is refusing to work on something he can’t get right away. The dog casino is one such puzzle. He is a large dog with a very head. He can’t get the white bones turned right away, and would walk away. I loved your suggestion (in another video) of tying strings to drawers. Do you have any suggestions on how to make the white bones a bit more accessible (I tried leaving them not fully down, but my dog with his big paws dislodges them in the completely down position usually). Thank you!
Great video, to show how it works. I was looking into getting this for my dogs. They both love the 'touch' command and use it to their own accords when playing with interactive toys. So I'm pretty sure they won't understand the fact that the bones will unlock the draws. In fact they'll probably struggle more on opening them without the bones being involved. I will see how it goes, it will be interesting though :)
If you purchase it for your pups, Anniie, let me know how it goes! I don't lock the bones for many of the dogs. I think that is a hard level 3 with the bones 'locked' :)
My dog just will not understand the bones unlock the drawers I will put treats on the bones but if he does unlock them he doesn’t understand that he did
Hi Monika, try starting with just turning the bones. You can teach him to initially touch the bones and then turn the bones through treats/positive reinforcement. Once he has that down, you can connect that to the trays. Not all dogs will make that connection and will work at the bones and trays repeatedly until he gets all the treats. That's ok, too!
I bought this for my toy poodle. It's almost impossible for him to open the drawers/ The space for a paw is extremely small. Any suggestions before I return it?
Hi Jacquelyn, the opening is small. Most dogs will catch their nail on it and it will open a bit and then use their nose to push it open the rest of the way. Some will also lift the whole thing up with their nose and the other side will open or when it drops a couple drawers may open. They also will open the drawers with their mouth. Does he paw at it at all? Just a couple times and gives up? Does he interact with it in other ways? You can try opening a drawer just a bit to help him get started and see if he'll open it the rest of the way from there. Try putting treats right on top of the handle, that can encourage him to use his mouth to open it. It's hard to say without seeing him but If you are using his favorite treats and he either isn't that interested to keep trying or if he is getting frustrated, I would return it or put it away for a later date. Maybe try some other puzzle toys and come back to this one or it may not be the right fit for him and that's ok!
@@rufflifedogcarecenter1012 Thanks for the helpful suggestions. I find the design of the drawers is not very dog-friendly. The designer herself suggested putting strings on the drawers so that the dogs could open them. Also, the puzzle sits close to the floor so it's difficult for a small dog to get under it. My dog was not inclined to pick the entire toy up and turn it over. I was excited at first because Nico gets into just about everything in the apartment and carries it to his crate as a prize. He finds tiny bits of food on the floor. Which easier puzzle would you suggest? Thanks very much.
@@jacquelynbonomo6355 Depending on Nico's interest, you may try something to start to get his foraging skills working in a different direction. :) You can try putting his food or favorite treats in a towel and rolling it up (I have a video here: th-cam.com/video/OotKx8Ua1xk/w-d-xo.html) or a snuffle mat ( here: th-cam.com/video/vBUF5yKYKtA/w-d-xo.html). Otherwise, the spinning bone toy (th-cam.com/video/J0YOOsMoiOw/w-d-xo.html) he can slide open to get his treats and the dog brick he can flip open with his nose (th-cam.com/video/Orkvh7XtrNk/w-d-xo.html). You can check out my other videos for DIY enrichment and other ideas to try and see what he prefers. Usually once you find something that he likes and does well, he will be more inclined to try other new things. Hope that helps!
Oh no! Try one a level or so down from this one. You can also try making an enrichment activity from things around the house and see if that engages them more.
I want to know how to teach them to move the bones first to unlock the game

I would have started out not licking ANY of the bones for awhile
