  • 🎥 This PM mock case interview features Natasha Goel, CS undergraduate student at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a software engineering intern at Autodesk, as the candidate answering a product sense/design question about designing a new Google Meet product for university professors. Kenton Kivestu, ex-Googler and RocketBlocks Founder, plays the interviewer.
During the mock interview, we include "interviewer's notes" on the screen to call out nice points Natasha brings up and also areas for improvement. The end of the video includes a full discussion of performance with both Natasha and Kenton weighing in on what went well vs. not.
📖 Big thanks to Natasha from the Product Buds community for doing a filmed mock interview - it takes real nerves of steel to let the world watch you interview! To learn more about Product Buds check out their LinkedIn page: / productbuds .

Jesus, the caliber of this student is absolutely incredible. The reasoning and structure is impeccable, and an undergrad at that (sounds like an MBA student). Keep it up Natasha!

Clearly intelligent and product driven candidate. But more importantly, big shoutout to the interviewer - he asked great clarifying questions, guided the interviewee and probed at product points / suggestions that were weak. I've seen many of these "mock interviews" on youtube but this is one of the few videos where the interviewer is interactive and helpful. As a product manager, 10/10 to both interviewee and the interviewer. Well done.

Strong case driving and even stronger structuring! I definitely wasn't that solid when I was entry level. A soft skill tip for any candidates looking to take their executive presence to the next level: work on eliminating filler words from your speech. You'll notice here the candidate says "kind of" every 5 seconds, and also inflects the ends of sentences as if they were questions when they aren't questions. I find that these mannerisms are often forgotten at all levels. By taking the hedging out of your statements, you can convey confidence and professionalism far beyond your years.

The interview was really awesome, covering a broad range of things, but honestly I feel like this was like a few hr long video, not a 50 min one, at least to digest the overall content. I'd have to probably watch it a few times before I say what I got from this discussion. I started at around 4pm and had to take several breaks and hours before I completed watching it at 11pm. Glad the interviewer asked for a recap, because it really helped putting the high level overview in place.

Defining goals and tying it back to goals at multiple points - amazing takeaway from this mock!

She is good...however for a productivity tool the core is making the whole process in this case knowledge delivery experience successfuul. it starts right with the Preparation...would have loved to see some features around prep, then delivery and engagement and finally one single measure for determining a succesful experience delivery...like a student poll at the end. Other features would be marking segments of the lecture delivery, having a summarised section of all Q&A's during the lecture delivery etc....

Her structure and case was amazing!
I wonder, how long do people usually spend (or are generally accepted) on organizing their thoughts/structure on the product after given the prompt?

Between 30-90 seconds is the std range

I was wondering do we need to talk about Google's goal and how that maps to meet for profs?
