Thanks Chad for all of your work coaching us Helix users! Appreciate you Sir and with you on the new Fender model. Carry on please and cheers from the Pacific NW!
Good new tones. Do u use your VA for acoustic stuff as well? I've got a JTV 59. Was using the acoustic stuff on it as well as the electric, but had soundguys get on me about "doesn't really sound like an acoustic" or whatever, so I went back to acoustics & electrics. Just curious as you have a great ear.
I do use the VA for acoustic tones live with good results. A couple of things to keep in mind, and you may already be doing this so ignore this bit of advice if you already are, but make sure your acoustic sounds are either going through a full range speaker, or sent directly to the PA. If your acoustic tones from the guitar are going through an electric guitar amp it won't sound convincing. The other thing is I like to use some eq and compassion on the preset I use with the acoustic tones. I use Helix, and this video explains what I do and has a free preset: th-cam.com/video/VWvAUXIWRGo/w-d-xo.html Basically I think using an parametric EQ can be very useful in getting a better acoustic tone. This applies to Variax, or a regular acoustic/electric guitar. The video referenced above will talk about those concepts. Hope that helps!
Awqesome Tones, I love your playing and your vibe in general \m/ Legend, Can't wat to hear you do some early Metallica style stuff with Pre and Post Eq on the new EVH amps
@@JimmyKay1976 thanks! You can't directly lead this preset into stomp, but you can look at the blocks I'm using, and settings on the screen when I click on each bloxk , and easily build the exact preset on stomp. I don't think you'll run into any dsp limits.
This was a great video. I appreciate that you’re using the Variax guitar.
