    Denzel is a jewel to the black community. We all refer to him by his first name alone as endearment. As a 31 year old millennial, I grew up on Denzel. His movies and acting have done a great deal to represent, black masculinity, black pride and black love. Subtly as he does it, it adds to the respect, favoritism and appreciation we as black people have for him. The way he holds his wife’s hand high to this very day I think is something any loving black person can aspire to. Having his kind of integrity is not just respectable and admirable it is a sense of excellence or even black excellence in it self.

      @johndoe Obviously, it's not the same. However, it is not my responsibility to explain that to you. Read a history book and figure out why. Black woman are constantly told that they are the lowest in American society. White women are exalted as much as a "woman" can be. So one man saying he would not kiss a white woman on screen does nothing to them as women. Literally a large percentage of successful black men marry and exalt them already. Someone supporting the most marginalized and disrespected group of women is not rascism. That is clearly what you are hinting.

    This is very rare. You don’t see many black celebrities that care about the community enough without getting any financial benefit from it. His decision actually got a lot of black actresses jobs. Black people tend to be more individualistic and don’t think as a collective. Denzel is truly a pioneer. We would be better as a community if we all thought like Denzel.

    • @Laura-sg6ss
      @Laura-sg6ss 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Yep! And it's so sad because we originally come from collectivist cultures but ofc that has been ripped away and especially, the richer you get, the more the individualism becomes apparent. And it's important to note that this individualism isn't them just protecting themselves necessarily, it's literally just wanting to be individualistic and distancing themselves completely from their community. And that is shame because we could do so much more for each other and tbh you don't even have to do it at a super close range if it isnt possible to - advocating for the community is huge in itself. We could really help each other ALOT. We have the brains, the numbers, innovation, the style, the charisma, the personalities, the talent. WORLDWIDE. We all got it - it's a special gene from Mama Africa honestly, it's so special. Makes me sad alot of the time but it is what it is. Seeing it in Denzel is better than not seeing it at all tbh lool.

    Denzel Washington deserves every respect and accolade he’s received. He is a shining example to us in the way he conducts himself, and holds stead fast to his principles. I'm a big fan of his.
    I think we also have to remember that two people can simply fall in love. The only thing that matters is how they feel about each other in this instance ;the question of race is not a question for these individuals. Instead; it questions societies maturity in accepting love overrules all, especially when you’re in it.
    I wish us all the kind of luck Denzel Washington has in finding that life long love regardless of race religion or creed. Let’s hope that the human species evolves enough to realise when you have love in your life that is a big deal. Common sense tells us; If it’s bad reject it, if it’s good accept it!
    No doubt the world can be a much better place.

      I have great genuine respect for how Mr. Washington's respect and love for God, his wife, their well raised adult children, the great contribution to communities especially for Black American children, including other ethnicities and so much more. Integrity, Character is important for me to admire any "actor" beyond the big screen.

    Denzel was always respectable. There should be more representation of black love on the screen. There is push for representation of all other types of relationships but when it comes to a black man and a black woman coming to love and respect one another, there is no push. I don't want to see a racially ambiguous looking woman, " can pass for black " type of chick. I want to see Lupita Nyong'o be the love interest. Idris Elba. These actors are very good esp. Idris Elba.
