We often get a question about what is the difference between our pergola at The Luxury Pergola and the Mirador product, which is a popular lower priced option.

I would say they main difference is about $28,000
Actual difference is about $8000. We mention later in the video. The unit we offer for $10,000 is the same quality as the unit that typically goes for $30,000 is the point.
@@theluxurypergola ah I see. The introduction threw me off because I thought you were comparing like size. Just went on your website though, looks to be a great product. Would have loved to get a 12 x 16 but they’re slightly out of my price range.

Do you have any installers near Naperville, IL that have installed your pergola?
Appreciate this but I think you are missing the mark....don't think anyone is cross shopping $2k to almost $10k.....would love to see and think it makes more sense to compare contrast Bon Pergola, Hanso, struxure X would be a much better comparison as they are more in the same class.....those are some others I am cross shopping.....would love to see...

Hello! I'd recommend this video on our channel discussing pergolas and comparable quality pergolas. It might help you spot that two on your list are not quite the same quality as you'd be getting with ours or even one of the others you mentioned (with the exception that the other comparable quality system tells you to remove the louvers in high wind or snow: th-cam.com/video/KUcNeY8rEU4/w-d-xo.html
Is there a non-motorized option?
Great looking product. At that price point though - the shades (going forward) really need to be “plug and play” and an option to be motorized with no pre-drilling required by the customer; the motor on top should be hidden from view (from all angles); if you can’t figure out a fully motorized system, then the louvers and shades should be able to be manually opened / closed and raised / lowered from inside; and lastly maybe offer the entire electrified / motorized features as options. How many years have you guys been doing this? Seems like you have a pretty good product but not sure if it’s worth it to drop 10k on a direct to consumer online product that has very few real world reviews and videos. Your videos are actually kind of selling me on the Costco one because if doesn’t hold up, I can still buy 2 or 3 replacements over the years and still be under 10k
Great question. If you watch our “Who Are We?” video, we talk more about it. We’ve been selling our product for the last 3 years now, but direct to consumer is new in the last year. Prior to this last year the product was only sold custom on residential or commercial applications for restaurants and hotels.

FWIW I had the Costco one. Was great until one freak storm, and now it is a pile of bent metal in my backyard. Props to this video for explaining the quality differences.
Do the louvers open up during a wind storm?
Usually with heavy wind, there is rain. Our system is designed to be open or closed in rain and/or wind. That's why we engineered it with a 130 mph wind rating. If the winds are strong enough to exceed the 130 mph wind rating, typically your house is gone too.
I've been wanting one of these for some time now but the price point is just too high. The manual one is closer to my budget so I'll see. The luxury one looks better bc of its size and height but for the price I just can't see myself spending that amount.

Do these need a special footing?
It really depends on your application. Whatever pergola you choose will need proper mounting to ensure it doesn't blow away in the wind.

Can you mount infrared heaters at the top interior to keep people warm on a cold night? If so, is it possible to hide the wiring in the posts or something?
Our system could definitely handle that. We just don't sell the heaters ourselves. You're spot on with how to wire it as well.

Maybe you guys should try making $5k version and that would really take a bite in to the mirador customer base.
Unfortunately, the cost of these raw parts is significantly higher than $5k. The only way to shave cost is to shave weight, as we're charged per pound of aluminum. When we shave weight, we lose strength. If we did that, we might get to their price point, but we'd be selling something we don't want to stand behind as a company. We are trying to find ways to get it as strong with less weight, but so far, that hasn't been feasible. I agree a lower price point would make everyone happy, but only if we can make it as strong. I guess due to its heaviness this can't be installed directly on a trex deck
The weight wouldn’t be the issue. It’s more of a concern of wind load, but it all depends on your local building codes

A pergola of comparable quality is $28,000. Ours is much less than that.
