We got the worst version of this game really. It was originally made with motion controls in mind which would’ve been cool at the time. Then they made a fully 3D Banjo Pilot prototype which was incredibly impressive and substantially better than the final game, but was too demanding for the GBA. So we end up with the first version, which was designed with tilt controls in mind, without tilt controls. Not great.
I think it's different nowadays since there aren't many GBA racing games worth checking out. But I just found out about the fully 3D Banjo-Pilot. Looked super cool!
Fun fact: the entirety of the original Dinosaur Planet was discovered fairly recently if no one knew. Yet again, another hidden Rare game that never came to be, now found!
@@Demeech I actually have no idea. I would think so considering someone was able to play the game for TH-cam. I haven't looked far enough into this to know. Sorry if that isn't a very helpful response.
Nintendo should replace the unfinished game model with the ‘early adopter’. When they thought a thing is too risky. They can start doing early concept and development work and release the trial version for like mini e-shop game price. If they think the ‘demo’ sales well, they can continue developing and release the ‘true’ game with the ‘demo’ content included. The demo version will be taken off from e-shop but people who owned it still owns it.
You learn something new everyday, didn't know about this title, only knew about the cancelled GameCube sequel to Diddy Kong Racing. Definitely think this could've been made into a full game, looked to be more fun than Super Circuit. Will say this about Rare. When the fifth generation wrapped up, game development costs were rising and Rare was looking to sell, only problem was Nintendo wasn't interested in buying the remaining 51%, so they looked towards possible buyers in Activision and Microsoft and unfortunately, the rest is history, though I see Microsoft probably regarded buying them for 375 million dollars when their output for the original Xbox and 360 was pretty meh, very middle of the road, and nowhere near the acclaim of the SNES and Nintendo 64 titles. There's also this other tidbit about Rare. They weren't a friendly company to work with and in their strive to make the best games possible, they worked their developers to the absolute bone. They were hemorrhaging talent in the fifth generation and I think Nintendo saw it was time to move on before they became a liability. By the time they were bought, most of the talent was already gone.
Well I can defenitley say the lack of talent in the end bleed hard to nuts and bolts which is still known by many as the biggest franchise killer of all time :/
Well demeech I belive the reason why we didn't have a new banjo kazooie title is pretty much the massive backlash nuts and bolts got and you can still feel it to this day but hey if sonic frontiers give to people a more open level sonic game which didn't really happen since O6 or if you really want to count the zelda DLC at lost world which I don't I think banjo have a chance though I have some doubt because unlike O6 nuts and bolts is what people consider a franchise killer something on the levels of tony hawk ride when the franchise cannot really recover in the fanbase's eyes
As for diddy kong pilot I think is mostly decent but the presentation isn't what I like I never was huge fan of those 3D like models on GBA and I know they were really advence for their time they look pretty ugly for me remind me the mediocre altered beast game on GBA or something in this levels but overall I think is neat nothing else in my mind

Well sound like playing this game nowdays is a serious pain pretty much playing tilt and thumble with the Dpad with the same physics
It;s amazing how Rare largely rebooted Donkey Kong into the face it became, but now they're pretty much a literal who company
A modern version of Donkey Kong/Banjo Pilot with similar level design to Diddy Kong Racing and Sonic and Sega All-stars racing would be really good

2003 build. Same game as Banjo-Pilot, just with DK characters. The tracks and graphics are same.
