@@parthf4873 My father pays 30% taxes too. We are from a tier 3 city in Bihar. The situation is worse than you can imagine. Whenever it rains, the roads get flooded 'cause the sewers are clogged and never maintained. We don't have access to clean drinking water. People around us who don't earn enough to afford a water purifier travel 2-3 kms to get water. The 'Nal-Jal' scheme is just a gimmick. Don't even need to elaborate on the schools and hospitals' conditions. On top of that we have the infamous 75% reservation in Bihar (which got overruled by Patna HC but the state govt is appealing it in the SC).
In a nutshell, for people like me I would suggest you leaving the country.
I won't feel an ounce of guilt while leaving India as I am not obligated to this country in any sorta way. My dad worked his a** off for 40 years to get us here.
What has this country (more specifically my state) done for me?🤷♂

@viveknegi7006 just because a part of your salary fall's under 30% don't claim that you are paying 30% tax on your income. If you divide the total tax liable / gross income you will get the actual percent of tax. Just use some online calculator of cleartax etc. You will know the exact percent.

The most painful experience is paying a third if our hard earned wages as tax, and then to see it be spent as freebies to get more votes and deplete the treasury. Take for example, the free bus and metro rides, which we support in principle, but the capital expenditure is so high, that the government then adds further taxes to fuel costs, which are again paid by the same set of people who fund the freebies in the first place. The whole situation is untenable, and will eventually lead to a downfall of our society.

@CASunnyKr my dad was a 1st grade officer of an OIL company and he has been paying taxes throughout his life. His package was very good but seeing him pay so many different taxes and not getting anything in return was definitely frustrating. He sent me to a privaye school, we had access to good hospitals where his company paid and will still pay as a retirement benefit. He never kept the option of sending me to a government school or hospital and luckily I got into a government college. But the way people are taxed where only 2-3% pay taxes is utter bulls*it. Lowering tax rates but taxing everyone is the only option especially taxing farmers. Around 56% of working indians are farmers so till this day farmers never taxed a single coin, so why not tax them a little? Otherwise say goodbye to development

Not many farmers earn more than 15 lakhs. Many have family land distributed among family members. It looks like a big holding, but it is distributed income. you can tax farmer, but be prepared for. Rise in food grains as many will leave farming and migrate to cities. Best is to encourage manufacturing. How many time you buy local goods, local groceries, local resorts , local crafts, local ice creams instead of big Indian corporates?

Paying tax is never a concern, but paying tax alone is the main concern. Why tax is collected from only 2-3% people? Why not from everyone? All banks are linked with Aadhaar, find a way to collect taxes based on the earning in that account. Anything can be done if government wants to do it, if there is a will then there is a way.
Becoz most of the people are below exemption level or they don't show their income directly. Don't forget that an average Indian earns only about 3 lakh per year. Above 10 lakh and you are in top 1%

A special income tax card should be issued to all salaried individuals who are paying income tax under 30% bracket. This card should allow free travel in AC coaches of railways, free bus and metro travel in cities, free health insurance cover, free education and admission in premier govt schools and colleges, reduced interest rate of loans from govt banks, etc. The point is if we are really the people who are paying extraordinary taxes, then only we should get premier services of govt.

Taxes are not problem, but use of taxes is. Developed countries take taxes upto 50% bit they prvide great survice in every sector.
My suggestion : 1% tax on 0.6 lakh to 3 lakh income [All type of income including Agriculture income and business income] and provide Free Term insurance coverage of 15 lakh life cover and Health insurance coverage of 3 lakh for one year and tax pay not compulsory upto 3 lakh. 2% tax on 3 lakh to 10 lakh income [All type of income including Agricultureand business income]. Above 10 lakh income 10% tax [2% tax on 3 lakh to 20 lakh on Agriculture income and 10% tax on Above 20 lakh Agriculture income and business income]

While it is true that farmers face significant risks due to unforeseen events, there are insurance mechanisms in place to mitigate these risks. When businesses incur losses, the government doesn't typically intervene to prevent bankruptcy. So why is there an exception for farmers? Every year, substantial subsidies are provided to the agriculture sector, and loans are frequently waived off, burdening taxpayers. Agriculture is a business and should be treated as such. No one is "Ann Daata"; no one is feeding my family unless I earn money and pay these so-called "Ann Daata."
Additionally, why aren't taxes imposed on farmers with an annual income exceeding 1 crore? Wealthier farmers still benefit from subsidies meant for the deprived classes. This unfair advantage needs to be addressed to ensure a more equitable distribution of resources.

1. Govt should rich farmers. There are many rich farmers taking 50% subsidies on bank Loans and not paying any tax.
2. Many Private schools and colleges not paying Tax.
3. Politician not paying Tax.
4. There is only one earning member in somefamilies, and in some other families 2-3 members are earning members. So Govt should Tax on average income of a family, and not on individual income.

Agree to each & every line you said, this is too much for middle class citizens paying taxes. Govt. can't abolish unfair rules to please farmers to save their govt. but when tax paying citizens rise up there won't be any govt left to follow the institution.
First of all an in debth analysis needs to be done: 1) On how much of the tax finances go towards all the benefits accumulated by all the politicians from the countries finances. Why is this not included in the chart .
2nd proper use of government finances for infrastructure that is solid and long term in use. That means good construction. Why is no one held accountable?
3) More should be spent on good quality education and standard of living at the grass roots level.
As someone who voted for BJP, I 100% agree with these points.
However I do believe that a bigger reason for this war on the middle class is the whole welfare and reservation system. The government is a coward when it comes to implementing meritocracy, because if they do so, half the country will come down to protest. An internal strife is the last thing that any democratic government needs, especially in a country like India, which gets targeted and ridiculed by western nations on a daily basis.

It is an archaic constitutional clause that promotes divide and demotes merit. The ONLY reason to even have a reservation, is to bridge economic divides, rather than being caste based, which is the case with Indian reservation. You call me a BJP supporter for going against reservation, I call you a hypocrite to not see the destruction that its causing the country.
Three things that we don't need:
1. Caste based reservation and quotas
2. Income taxes for people earning below 30L.
3. End of government welfare schemes (freebies).

You are wrong in saying highest tax in India is 30%. Its actually 42%!
Once you start earning more than 50L annually, you have to pay a surcharge as well, and if your income is greater than 1Cr, it amounts to a net of 42%!
Such high paying jobs have a lot of stress associated with them, but government is like "nope, its our money" and makes them indirectly work for government for 5.5 months. One of my colleagues pays 20+ lakhs in taxes alone and he cant do anything about it.
Business owners can file tax during ITR, which gives them huge leverage to collect black money, but for salaried employees its deducted before it even reaches our bank accounts.
Can we file a PIL in Supreme Court to ensure that every taxpayer has the option to deny paying taxes in lieu of poor services in return?
