    Another great video. I wondered how to change bearing on a motor. Pretty straight forward you make it look easy. Sent you an email when you can get around to it. Can't wait for another surf and Turf

    The best assortment of bearings I've found are from an outfit in Boca Raton called (for lack of a better name) Boca Bearings. Add a dot calm at the end of their name and it will take you there. I've been using them for three or four decades now. They do nothing but bearings, and have every possible style bearing you can imagine; from full ceramic to cheap Chinese; from micro to big enough for a D-9 lower unit. Check them out and see how their prices compare. Inquiring minds would like to know.... 😉

      Dr. Jet what is you opinion of Fast Eddy ceramic bearings, I’ve purchased a complete replacement set for my Traxxas 4tech 2.0 but have not installed them. Just curious, but they got to be better than the stock ones from Traxxas. The car barely free rolls out of the box. Thanks

      @@nealstarling5422 As far as I know, Fast Eddy does not make ball bearings. Neither do Losi or 99% of the other names out there. SKF, Lufkin, and a handful of others make ball bearings. What happens is all the common RC suppliers buy bearings in bulk from the dedicated bearing manufacturers and market them to a specific group. In other words, a Fast Eddy Blast-O-5000 bearing will probably be the same exact bearing as a Losi Blast-O-5000, or a Boca Blast-O-5000.
      If you are asking about ceramic bearings in general, I highly recommend them. Remember, you can get ceramic balls in steel races or ceramic balls in ceramic races; prices vary accordingly.
      For 99% of my drive-train use, I use stainless steel bearings. I remove and clean them after every run, so it's not an issue. If I need to replace motor bearings as Big B did here, I would absolutely use ceramic or full ceramic if I felt it worth the extra investment. Full ceramic bearings can be run in seawater forever as long as no marine growth attacks them.

    Have you had that TP motor from new? Any idea how many hours run time before the bearings needed replacing. I'm thinking of ordering a bespoke 'build your own motor' from TP and wondering now about the bearing life span 🤔

    • @IRONCLADRC
      @IRONCLADRC  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I've had that motor for at least a year in a half. Ran it in the limitless for 6montha than threw it in the deltaforce for 6 months. Tp bearings aren't special in any way, I'd recommend upgrading the bearings to ceramic, I had a tppower 4050 bearing blow out mid run and destroyed the rotor and stator the 4050 was only 4 or 5 months old?

      BTW, my son told me that there are softer non-metallic bore brushes in all the popular gauges and calibers. He felt like that would be a better choice.
