I got to see the Underground in 2009 in a small bar in Tulsa Oklahoma and they were amazing. They played their show and then hung around and partied with us. They didn’t think their were too good hang with their fans. So badass! I was a child of the 80s and teen years in the 90s and this was the standard.

Digital Underground was one of the first hip-hop groups that I liked when I was a kid in elementary school. Rest in Peace, Shock G.
Lightning really struck with this song, right place, right time. Digital Underground were from Oakland, just like MC Hammer. That must have been a throwaway line about successful regional rapper MC Hammer. This song was recorded and released almost concurrently with "U Can't Touch This" that made MC Hammer the biggest star in the world. Digital Underground were the first to namecheck him in a hit single, further boosting the popularity of this single and riding Hammermania of 1990.
I love this song because it's shows, you don't have to be good looking or be a great dancer to be the life of the party. ♥️
