In defence of Kik, back in the days (2012-2016) everyone I knew were using Kik. It is what was used to communicate in early to mid high school years among the classmates until Instagram and Snapchat took over.
The only social media that I truly love is TH-cam, and even then, it's so hard finding anything good to watch. Most people have taken their content from TikTok and posted it here on TH-cam shorts. So no matter what, you really can't escape it, even if you've never had it.
thats why i mostly watch long form videos more than youtube shorts now, i used to watch youtube shorts more but i stopped because its boring and i lost my braincells from the dumb videos

Social Media just shows users their true colors. Nowadays I have TH-cam, Skype, and Discord. I quit using the popular social media accounts and deleted those accounts due to how bad and toxic social media is.
I will disagree with you about Telegram, because most of it's users are speaking on Russian, so yeah a lot of people use it, as well as me. It's a really good platform, you just need to censor the content you see, that's why I join only TH-camrs Telegram channels. But yes, there's a lot of 18+ content, but as I said already, you can just censor it for yourself.
There are people who use social media to keep in touch with their friends and families, and rheir are people who use social media to lash out at the entire world, and their are people who use social media as a substitute for living life outside of their homes.
Two of my Reddit posts EX-PLODED pretty much overnight for their respective subreddits, and for Discord, well... I'm pretty much a head mod in a server of my friend's.
Snapchat is horrible. I get random bots messaging me, sending nude pictures of women, shit like that. I can't tell you how many new snaps I've had to make
I actually had a story like this, I used to be really into the backrooms lore, so I went on the fandom, mad my own level, and within ONE FREAKING MINUTE, my level got deleted, the fandom is very similar to reddit.
