Oh wow! Game changer- I am an English rider but I’ve always wondered how the hell Western saddles were hoisted on a horse- they are SO HEAVY! Very cool trick- makes so much sense-thanks Warwick!
What is so cool about this method it seems almost impossible to drop the saddle hard or slap it on the horses back. Such a polite and soft way to start a ride. Thank you Warwick.
I got it!! It works for us. All these years of trying to gently saddle my anxious mare. She now quietly stands and doesn’t move away. I think it was my anxiety that was making her move away.
Omg this really helps I am an 12-year-old rider and my horse is The tallest one at the barn and I have one of the heaviest saddles out of everybody because they all ride English totally not fair
What a gorgeous horse. I haven't watched the videos with you training the Andalusian yet, but am looking forward to it. To be honest, I bought a synthetic, treeless saddle which only weighs about 10 lbs, so no struggle for me.
Warwick just wondering what Brand/Maker of saddle you prefer to use/ride in? And what style; Reiner, Barrel, Pleasure, etc? Thanks. I have been riding & professionally training for 35yrs and I have always said: "One can never stop learning"! Thx for helping me continue to learn. :)
I am 65 and 5'-0". My horse is almost 16H. Tried this and the saddle would hit his withers and I would have to go back to my old method. How tall and strong you are is a factor. Usually Warwick is on point, but one size does not fit all!
You can always get your horse used to a mounting block and then you can use the extra height to help you not only saddle the critter but make it easier for you to mount.
Than you for this video. I am going to try it. I feel like such a weakling trying to hoist a saddle with 2 hands and fumbling to push it onto the animal.
Help, I am pushing 70 and also don't have a Cheyenne roll. I have rigged a leather handhold as close to the cantle as possible but can only get a waist high swing. Any help will be appreciated. when I was younger this was no big deal. Saddle is approximately 30 lbs. and horse is about 15h. Thank you.
Have you ever done or have anything planned for a Massachusetts clinic? Love the videos man. I like the way you throw the saddle up there. I'll have to try that. Right now i'm just doing the old style of using my knee and swinging the saddle up high and bringing it down quiet and soft but what you do looks easier.
I just bought my first Western saddle, it is bigger and heavier than my little Wintec English saddle. Practiced this first on my couch, now I won't look like a klutz at the barn.
You can do it if the saddle is heavy or you're short. It's the momentum of the swing that gets it up there. Just practice. My trainer is about 5 feet tall and she swings a saddle up like this on a 17 hand horse.
@@chewar7537 My current trainer is about five inches shorter than me and she saddles my 16.2 horse like this. I have hit hit twice with the saddle, but she just swings it on up. I think it's practice. I am going to keep trying.
I need way more practice. I have whacked the shit out of my horse two days in a row. Thankfully he is very good, even though he is still learning, but I can't keep doing that. I just can't seem to get it.
It's rare to see a saddle that fits so perfect on the horse! Great!

Man, that's so cool! I've been struggling all this time and Warwick just made it so easy!
Amazing. I’m going to watch this over and over....until I get it.
It works!! So much easier. Where have you been all these years? Guess it’s a good thing I got into this TH-cam search mode. Thank you Mr Schiller!

Omg that looked so easy...great advice with the fence option !!
I really needed this.

I learned that same technique from another famous clinician. Its surprising how easy it is not to mention it doesn't scare the horse.
Thankfully I was taught this way , thanks for the refresh
Gorgeous Horse!!
Thank you Warwick. Again!!
The way you did it in the beginning to show how most people do it is exactly what I was doing 😂😂😂
Thank you so much you have saved my arms.
He makes it look SO EASY! I will practice this until I get it. I'm so tired of heaving it up there and the pad gets all messed up...

Very simple and easy to understand! Thank you!
Gorgeous horse!

This is what I was talking about.

I always always get my latigo caught up underneath! I put it up the same way but when I swing the latigo always ends up under the saddle

DollarMeWold, please email about an Arizona clinic.
nice horse
Can u do a video on how to have ur horse stand still?
I just bought my first Western saddle, it is bigger and heavier than my little Wintec English saddle. Practiced this first on my couch, now I won't look like a klutz at the barn.
Do you ever come to New Zealand?
Yes, I have presented at equidays the past 4 years and usually do some clinics around that time.
WarwickSchiller are you there this year? Is there information I can find somewhere?
Yes, Id look up their website, or mine.
Gangnam style place
My saddle is so heavy I can't get it over my horses back.
but what if the saddle is heavy as and what happens if your not tall enough?????
Brittney Trusz or get help from a taller person but you can't rely on others forever
Use your mounting bock

@@marge6020b Doesn't work. Tried it a lot, makes it look easy but it isn't!

Still doesn't work. The saddle is almost as long as I am tall.
Illusion is gawjuss
Wouldn't do me any good to throw a saddle on that big ol boy. I'd have to have an elevator just to reach the stirrup.
