Playing catch up with my podcasts the last few days. Great video again Paula. I did laugh when you started singing we plough the fields..... only yesterday morning we were out on our way to get puppy food for our new puppy labrador and there was a tractor ploughing away. Paula you have lifted my spirits no end today. I love everything you ‘re making and I’m also knitting some socks with Amy’s Gingerbread Haus yarn. Your story about walking around with Betty, and people responding positively, this kind of happened to me. We visited Ironbridge when I was around about your age (more than 20 years ago) and I bought myself a Merrythought Teddy which I carried around like a baby, for the rest of the day. The attention I/we received was tremendous. So many adults engaged with me and I knew that they also craved to walk around cuddling a Teddy in public. Teddy (who was named Butterscotch) was spreading happiness everywhere he went. At first my children thought I had gone mad, but even they were seduced by the happy atmosphere 🥰 Like Teddy Butterscotch, you spread happiness too 🥰

I was scared when you said you had another addition to the family, i thought maybe you should have warned us of a scary doll, but then you pull out sweet little Betty. Ooh, can’t wait for the mince pie tasting as the hot cross bun tasting episodes were hilarious. I know what you mean about the drawbacks of living with a tradesman, as my ex was an electrician and we lived in a house which wasn’t earthed for 5 years, with bare wires hanging out of sockets and twin babies crawling about. Loving the socks and your project bags are gorgeous. Betty is so beautiful and reminds me of my lovely doll, Susan, trouble is my little sister poked her eyes out and they had to be glued back in so they didn’t open and close any more. I’m still bitter about it, especially as my little sister had a well posh doll that wet it’s nappy and everything, I was so jealous. Betty is georgous. She is wobbly as she needs the elastic inside that holds her limbs together replacing as it will have perished + that is why it is loose. It is easy to do just make sure you pull it tight
My wonderful mother, who passed away five years ago, had three daughters and she always said: “You’re only as happy as your least happy child.” I think she believed that even after we were all quite quite grown! As a mom, whose three kids are all now grown as well, I could never get that phrase out if my head! So it was so funny to hear you say such a similar phrase on the podcast! Love Betty. Yes - I’m the same - never usually buy yarn packs as like to try and make my own colour scheme. We are all different but once I saw your version of Lucy’s Yuletide Blanket I just had to order it. Was out of stock but got an email last night to say back in stock so have ordered (along with lots of Liberty fat quarters for my new hobby of EPP). Liberty fabrics are so beautiful! I absolutely loved your new bags but was too slow in the rush. Will have to wait for your next update. I think I will try the Tiptree Advent Calendar this year. It’s themed on a London bus (how I loved those old London buses when I was young). It’s rainy and blustery here today so am going to settle down and try and finish my Call the Midwife sofa throw to get myself ready for the Lucy extravaganza. All my little bears, rabbits and pandas are looking forward to the coal fire going on soon. Hope Doug is well. My cat Mollie has a new addiction of Banana Weetabix with milk!!! When I was a little girl and we would visit an aunty and she had a doll just like your doll you bought. I always played with her and called her Lucy and I have often wondered what happened to her. I just found you a week or two ago when Ali from This Little Wonderful Life mentioned you. You are just great! I should say that I grew up in NE England but have lived in the US for many years. I watch anything that I can that comes from England! I told my husband today that you remind me of Beatrix Potter with your love of animals and the stories that you tell about the little bears, bunnies etc, that you make. Also your bags, socks and everything else you make are just beautiful....such talent! Betty is georgous. She is wobbly as she needs the elastic inside that holds her limbs together replacing as it will have perished + that is why it is loose. It is easy to do just make sure you pull it tight
My wonderful mother, who passed away five years ago, had three daughters and she always said: “You’re only as happy as your least happy child.” I think she believed that even after we were all quite quite grown! As a mom, whose three kids are all now grown as well, I could never get that phrase out if my head! So it was so funny to hear you say such a similar phrase on the podcast! Love Betty. Yes - I’m the same - never usually buy yarn packs as like to try and make my own colour scheme. We are all different but once I saw your version of Lucy’s Yuletide Blanket I just had to order it. Was out of stock but got an email last night to say back in stock so have ordered (along with lots of Liberty fat quarters for my new hobby of EPP). Liberty fabrics are so beautiful! I absolutely loved your new bags but was too slow in the rush. Will have to wait for your next update. I think I will try the Tiptree Advent Calendar this year. It’s themed on a London bus (how I loved those old London buses when I was young). It’s rainy and blustery here today so am going to settle down and try and finish my Call the Midwife sofa throw to get myself ready for the Lucy extravaganza. All my little bears, rabbits and pandas are looking forward to the coal fire going on soon. Hope Doug is well. My cat Mollie has a new addiction of Banana Weetabix with milk!!! (She gets meat and fish too of course). Lesley x.
