That athletic director should have asked former Alabama coaches if they wanted the job instead of his friends. Those former coaches learned under Saban.
It's not just the score, though Vandy did drop 40 on the Tide, it's that the scoring drives are 17 plays long and it's clear Bama can do nothing to get off the field and they look bad doing it, for example trying to tackle from a standing position while the running back walks down the field. Even worse, they keep going back to the same plays over and over again and Bama can do nothing to stop them. Shovel pass anyone?

The scheme had nothing to do with Vandy loss. It was a combination of of Vandy playing a near perfect game, our players lack of taking them serious and not properly preparing for the triple option.
Vandy also called man beating plays because Alabama played a lot of Cover 1 man. That’s one reason how they kept beating Bama on 3rd down with passing plays. Coach wommack ran some more zone coverages and mixed them up which led to a better defense again SC

It’s a little trickier than that. Some TE’s are like wide receivers. They can beat linebackers on the pass a whole lot easier that they could with a heavier DB
@@s.k.1452 The thing that people don't understand is that a football game itself is like chess. Yes, the 3-4/4-3/4-4 formations do better at run stopping, but they tend to leave the pass game more open due to having an extra LB on the field, so no formation guarantees stops every time. It's ultimately about making the best play calls at the right time and hoping that the players execute the plays properly.
