      Actually slightly wrong. They weren't junked through mistakes. The BBC policies was to show it a couple of times, sell it abroad and due to thevfact that tapes and videos took up space to save room in the vault, the BBC junked the film and tapes. It's not just Doctor Who that was to "benefit" from the BBCs policy but many of the programs from the mid 70s back were junked. For example Out Of The Unknown, and more famously Dad's Army. The missing early episodes of Dad's only now survive as reproductions.

      Thank Chibnall, he was horrible before he was the showrunner and now he's running the show into the ground. He wanted more companions because Classic Who had them, but neglected the fact that New Who has a shorter run-time, also he couldn't write a good Doctor Who story if his life depended on it, like that star that killed the miners.
      To be fair, he did write some of the best Amy and Rory content, but then decided to ruin it in the last third of the episode (the one with the cubes).

      even weirder that I'm not really that familiar with Doctor Who (although I watched Torchwood through a few times, but that hardly counts), just yesterday I got recommended a video titles something like "The failure of the 13th doctor" and watched a couple short related stuff -- otherwise, I didn't even really think about Doctor Who for years, and now this video hit youtube 17 hours ago (it took me this long to check youtube)
      how's that half the time I look up something relatively obscure* a channel I'm subbed to releases content about/around/mentioning it? *: by obscure I mean outside of the usual and expected range of topics or subject, I'm not calling Doctor Who "obscure" literally

    • @ms.antithesis

      @@grzzltn I get it. The thing is I watch Gamer from Mars for these types of videos. But I also watch a lot of forgot who tubers (diamanda hagen, amtv, josh snares, cdf, ace creeper, i could go on, all relitively small doctor who channels) so seeing an outsider, who I'm familiar with the content of, talk about this is wierd.
      Generally he's accurate, although he does gloss over or exaggerate certain elements of things.

    • @grzzltn
      @grzzltn 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ms.antithesis yeah, and it's a good format, but given the time limit of the video and schedule, small inaccuracies or exaggerations are to be expected and generally not frowned upon. it's just still weird how (seemingly?) independent things sometimes align and result in that YT recommends to you a topic you haven't even think of for a long while and you watched nothing even mentioning it, then he next day someone also mentions it -- it's even spookier if it happens in real life. Of course, it's almost 100% sure to be a glitch in the matrix, I mean statistically highly probable to happen eventually, but my brain still gets amazed by it

      Timeless Children completely puts the wait of time lord creation on Doctor's shoulders, having their own regeneration cycle implanted into the original people of Gallifrey

    I'm glad so many episodes have been found, and since so many have been found so recently, it gives hope that more will be found! And this video tells so many amazing stories and facts I've never heard anywhere else! Good job!!! On another note, there will never be an actor so perfect as The Master as Roger Delgado. He was charming but sinister, suave but dangerous; no one will ever play him as well or as powerfully. May he rest in peace.

    Jon Pertwee is likely the most interesting doctor, as he was transferred last second off of the battlecruiser HMS Hood when she and HMS Prince of Wales were given the orders to intercept the German battleship Bismarck and heavy cruiser Prinz Eugen. If he had not been scheduled to begin officer’s training, we could have seen Ordinary Seaman Jon Pertwee be just another name on a list of over 1,418 men who lost their lives at sea when HMS Hood exploded after being hit by a 15 inch shell which detonated the 4 inch magazine.

    Both The Final Game and The Cartmel Masterplan sort of made their way into the modern series of Doctor Who. The Peter Capaldi (12th Doctor) era saw the introduction of Missy, the Master's female incarnation (played by Michelle Gomez), who was initially still up to her evil tricks. But unlike past incarnations, her actions weren't purely out of spite for the Doctor, rather she wanted to go back to being friends with him. This was further explored in Series 10 where Missy asks for a chance of redemption, to which the Doctor agrees to oversee. This came to a head in the Series 10 finale where she encounters a previous incarnation of hers (John Simm's Master) and she has to decide whether or not to stand with the Doctor in his final (for 12) hour or return to her evil ways. Though reluctant, she decides to stand with the Doctor at the last minute as she and the Master are some distance away from the Doctor and co., resulting in her stabbing the Master in hopes he'll regenerate into her. The Master, however, refuses to ever stand with the Doctor and kills Missy in such a way that she cannot regenerate. Her redemption was seen by no one aside from her own past life (who would forget it all happening anyway due to the effects of meeting your future self) and she died for nothing. An ironic yet fitting end to a character like The Master... who comes back 2 seasons later played by Sacha Dhawan so it don't matter.
    Speaking of, this ties into The Timeless Child arc which, like the Cartmel Masterplan, revealed that the Doctor (now played by Jodie Whittaker) had previous lives before her first. Though as opposed to being a reincarnation of "The Other" specifically, but a continuation of a being known as The Timeless Child who fell through a portal from a mysterious world and was the first being on Gallifrey with the ability to regenerate, so her adoptive mother Tecteun preformed experiments on her to try and harness her regenerative abilities and shared this power with the Shobogans, creating the Time Lords. The Timeless Child had their memory wiped and was regressed to an infant (the 1st Doctor), but there were apparently Doctors who preceeded even the first, as seen with the Fugitive Doctor (played by Jo Martin) in Fugitive of the Judoon. Needless to say, this has been one of the most controversial revelation in Doctor Who since the 8th Doctor (Paul McGann) revealed he was half-human in the 1996 Doctor Who Movie.

      The Timeless Child retconed everything about Doctor Who lore to the point where they may as well have just rebooted the series so they could start a fresh new timeline and make a whole new universe of stories to explore.
