Hi OAG family. My sincerest condolences on the loss of your kin, such a great man, gardener. I've only been subscribed to his channel for about 2 years. I would appreciate if you all would continue on with his channel. Maybe re-release some of his earlier videos. I'm sure there are many of us who missed alot and would appreciate continuing to gain knowledge from him. Thank you so much.
Awhile back we talked about my sweet potatoes not setting any slips. We suspected sprout inhibitor. I got tired of fooling with them and tossed them in the ash pile. I was weedeating around the edge of the ash pile this morning and low and behold I had six inch slips. No roots so I've got them in water...wish me luck.
Thank you! I have done exactly as you have suggested. And, I have 2 18 gallon totes, full of sweet potato vines, that are growing up the cattle panels.
Hello Ken. Good to hear from you. I would give them at least 120 days of growing because that is how long it usually takes for sweet potatoes to form. However, you can check them (dig to see) starting after 100 days. C.

If I keep watching your videos, I believe I will become a successful gardener. You're the best, Charles. Thanks for doing such a well planned, organized 'show & tell' of gardening without all the fluff. Nothing wrong with fluff...if you have time for it. I don't. I noticed one time someone also made a 'grateful' comment about you putting in the 'notes' throughout the presentation. They said it really helped for the deaf or hard of hearing population. That was a warm fuzzy. How considerate. To be honest, I have taken several shots with my camera of your 'notes.' Terrific to refer to when potting something up or while out in the garden; or share with someone since it's on my phone. Jesus bless Charles!!
I usually grow them about 5 or 6 days. If it was rainy and you couldn't set them in the garden, you could hold them in the water bottle for a couple weeks. OAG

My first year growing sweet potatoes and I've already seen this first hand. I paid $20 for 12 Covington slips by mail(poor looking). They just sat there and a few died. Two weeks later I put in Beauregard plants in 2 x 2 cells @ $7.50 for 12 from the Alabama Co-op(beautiful plants). The Beauregard took off and are already running off the mound. The Covington are just starting to run. No comparison! From here on I can control the quality of my slips and I'll make my own as you showed. Thanks

Pardon me Mr. Charles, quick question for you. How do you deal with slugs and snails. They just love my tender little green bean plants. Do you have any wisdom you would like to share with me please.
I don't have a problem with those. But if I did I would use a product with Iron Phosphate. Check out Escar-Go. Buy it at: www.gardensalive.com/product/escar-go-slug-snail-control OAG
