@loneck When the magnet is on, it'll stick the blocks to the top. When the gravity is on, seeing as the left block is closer to the top than the right block, it'll stick there before the right block. So turning off the gravity drops the right block before it can reach the top and stick.
@3:17 ... DANG, this part was driving me nuts for about an HOUR in the early hours, this morning! Thanks for the help! I'm really not into games on my iPad (the onscreen controls frustrate me, being a console gamer) but I quite like this one. Anyway, thanks again and Meeeeeeerry Christmaaaaaaaasssss ...
Thats the purpose of the game :s then you realize that it was easier than you thought. Happens to me everytime. I rarely watch guides anymore, if im stuck i just find the most easy answer, works most of the times lol.
@TheLilylee Stagger the blocks. Notice the left block is closer to the magnetic roof. Turn the lever enough so that gets stuck on the roof and the right block still falls down.
@TheOnlyHero91 The puzzle at 8:36 was solved by first activating the magnet switch, which causes the giant blocks to stick to the ceiling. The block on the left is resting higher than the block on the right, meaning that it will touch the ceiling a few moments before the block on the right when you flick the gravity switch on. Make the left block barely touch the ceiling while reversing gravity so the right block doesn't stick to the ceiling too. Lots of rapid on-off toggling FTW.
@ManicAnarchaos It does work. You're supposed to disable the gravity switch halfway through when going up. The height difference of both blocks is the clue.
@sundipa The point here is to jump of cart while it have backwards momentum. So, drag it back straight from the button and jump to platform while cart still rolls back. That will give you extra seconds but you have to jump at the end of electrified platform or you'll die (again).
Guys, for the cart, the trick is to give it backwards momentum - don't jump on it when it's stopped, make it so that it's actually going backwards a bit, it will give you that extra 2 seconds you need.
@TheLeapingpanda It's about timing. Turning on the magnet will cause both blocks to stick to the roof, right? Well seeing as the block above the gravity switch is closer to the roof, turn that gravity on for only a bit and let that block hit the magnetism on the top then turn it off. That'll make the block on the left hit the top faster, while the block on the right didn't make it high enough to hit the magnetism.
@uberdeater I agree that the game should've been longer. But quite honestly. If the game had started at the price of $10, this game was a 10. The length satisfies. You get an awesome experience that doesn't drag on or get too old. Not only that, but if you REALLY want to go back, you can speed-run for leaderboards, or look for the secret eggs.
a bit easier way to do it @ 0:45 is to stay on the cart and keep walking to the right....he will then sort of tredmill the cart pushing it backwards giving u more time.....nice videos by the way :) i love this game
@UFOIST Be sure to have it so the cart is still moving backwards as you jump to the top. Also make sure you're jumping at the last second to give yourself a little leeway.
@BoltHype Make sure that that box you move with the gravity above the gun shooting at the elevator is all the way on your side, and push it. When the gravity is back on, it'll slide down to you.
@createdmiracle I may be wrong, since it's been about 7 months since I went there, but I believe you drag some boxes back there when gravity is upside-down.
@CognizantCheddar Totally depends on the person. I know people who got stumped on places for like 10 minutes that others breezed through. I think the fun of it is fixing together the loose ends. So take when you die a few times on that bear claw with the rope above it, I had that, "OHHH" moment when I realized I could weigh it down enough to close it up. Yeah, the game is short, but what's wrong with that? Maybe it could've used another half hour, but that would've drug on. I was satisfied.
@HDShadow The "OHHH" moments are great, I agree. My whole point though is that too often in Limbo that moment is trampled on by fickle input requirements that cause the player to still have to attempt a part several times long AFTER they had the "OHHH" moment of simply realizing the solution. And that's just counter-product design for a game like this. But certainly does extend the play-length...
@cprALexe the solution in this video walkthrough just seemed impossible to accomplish. it's easier at this part to jump onto the crate, and then stay on it until you get to the ledge. then, once your at the ledge and stood on the crate. push against the ledge. this slowly pushes the crate back with your feet and giving you more time to get past the electrified floor. then, once the crate is mostly behind you, climb on top of the ledge and run to the end. simple
@azcaz16 I was stuck on it forever on my first playthrough, so I suppose I probably scraped by in an unorthodox way. However, your solution does well to get people passed that part.
The trick at 0:48 is to push the cart backwards rather than pull. I did that and easily got past the electrified platform with more than a second to spare.
@uberdeater Do you realize just how much work goes into making a game like this? I read a Walking Dead tpb in an hour for 11.00 bucks and I don't feel like I got ripped off. It's not about how long it takes you to get through the game, it's about the experience of playing through it. The sound, the simplicity of the design, the starkness, the feeling of being in a dream. To me it's a wonderful piece of interactive ART.
I feel kinda guilty using it but 3:00 helped me through, just beat the game. Thanks man. :) Soon as I saw you pushing it up the ramp I was like "oohhhh" and stopped watching lol.
You forgot to get the secret bubble thingy below the elevator at 5.30 :) I couldn't figure out the flicking of he gravitational thingy to bring out the box but atleast I found the secret item, haha.
@UFOIST It's much easier if you push the cart from right side instead of pulling if from the left. You'll have as much as a whole second more to make the jump away from electrocution.
Anyway, the part right at the beginning of this video with the rail-car and the electric button is a perfect, undeniable proof of point (which you seemed to miss besides, since like I said the problem is not about figuring out the solutions themselves, it's about tedious application... but maybe that's too many complicated words for you, I don't know).
@HDShadow The problem isn't figuring out the solutions, the problem is actually executing them once you know them. Then it just becomes tedious, and that's bad design. You don't feel rewarded when it takes you a dozen attempts at something when all that time you already know exactly what you need to do, but beacuse of obnoxiously nit-picking timing it takes you forever. Anyway, I suspect the devs deliberately made the game tediously difficult simply to help mask how short it is.
0:47 - dont even jump off the cart just stay on it and push againts the rail - so you push the cart up by walking on it :) you have more time this way :)
Actually, that part at 0:49? I've seen maybe 5 or 6 other walkthroughs doing the same thing - and yet, I can't get through that part either. I'm not sure if I'm not pushing the cart back far enough, or what - I can never get across the electrified part in time.
totallymloved this game :D this sequence is a good example of the progression in the game..how every puzzle is harder than the last.. we dont get many games that test our intellect anymore..just dumb games that handhold u through the whole thing ....i hope more games like this come.. PS: HOW IN THE HELL did u figure our that turning magnetic fienld on and off thing right after the elevator?..i mean just how does something like that strike a persons mind?..lol wud have never thought of that..
@polkadotpuss Really? I feel like it's pretty easy in trial and error. I went through fine. I got stuck at parts for sure, but I never felt like I was completely lost.
So many people said that Limbo was cool, so I bought it for 2,50 at Steam and... I don't know I am kind of dissappointed. First of all, thank for your walkthrough, there've been some situations I didn't get to manage but it felt in a way different from games like Portal: I didn't even want to spend my time thinking about that to do, I'd rather just started your site to look what I've to do. So, I didn't really enjoy the game, but at least it only costs me 2,50...
I'm happy just to say I made it this far without looking up a walk thought.. That damn gravity block. The game lost the fear factor for me after the spider died
@Freakazoid406 Limbo's graphics are simplistic in a technical sense, but I think it's wrong to say they "come second" to the gameplay. Indeed, LImbo's visual (and also auditory) aesthetic is a crucial aspect of the experience. It took great artistic skill to make a game so visually fascinating (and surely you agree Limbo is that) but with only a monochrome color palette and a pseudo-2D platform perspective.
There's a lot about this game I love, but some of what happens in this bit is what I think is un-necessarily frustrating. It's like, okay, I'm basically looking at a completely black screen.
This is a brilliant game, but there is no way that I've seen so far that all of these sections can be figured out without prior knowledge of what's going to happen.
Holy shit! At the cart at 0:48 , you need to jump on the cart when it still is moving back while youare pushing it backwards and make a jump for the platform.
Figuring what to do there is simple and easy... but the timing necessary -- you have to jump off the rail-car at the microscopically perfect place and timing -- makes it UNREWARDINGLY difficult. When most players finally get it on their 12th or whatever try, by that time they are no longer in a state of mind that provides a sense of accomplishment. Instead, they just feel like they completed a bothersome chore.
@HDShadow polkadotpuss is a "new school gamer" which is another console kid who first - can't take a challenge second - simply can't think. Nice walkthroughs man. I was stuck at this kart part.
I didn't want to look too far into the solution of the puzzle and skipped the part where you have to go over the lift to get that second crate out of that magnetic thing, so I didn't have it. But yeah, sorted now.
@IMMMedved Thanks, it's OK I've completed the game. That part was a bit of a challenge but your technique sounds good so I may try it some time soon - cheers : )
Well, ironically these games are far better than a lot last generation games. But people is consumed by the videogaming industry, sorry if you are one of em.
@loneck When the magnet is on, it'll stick the blocks to the top. When the gravity is on, seeing as the left block is closer to the top than the right block, it'll stick there before the right block. So turning off the gravity drops the right block before it can reach the top and stick.
omg finallyyyyyy the moments that come after 4:06 i spent literally days trying to figure out what to do thnx soooo much
@3:17 ... DANG, this part was driving me nuts for about an HOUR in the early hours, this morning!
Thanks for the help!
I'm really not into games on my iPad (the onscreen controls frustrate me, being a console gamer) but I quite like this one.

Worked for me! Thanks so much for your walk-through of this game, really helps when I get stuck sometimes, great job!!!! Love it!
@ManicAnarchaos It does work. You're supposed to disable the gravity switch halfway through when going up. The height difference of both blocks is the clue.

this game is so subtle. so sweet.
6.00 was the only part that I got stuck so far. Thanks for posting.
I feel like a cheat now
@oceanclub2 stagger the switch. one block is higher than the other, so it should stick before the other will, if that makes sense.
i loved the music at the 2:20 part. such beautiful and peaceful music while being shot at by robotic gun turrets. :D
@createdmiracle I may be wrong, since it's been about 7 months since I went there, but I believe you drag some boxes back there when gravity is upside-down.
@detectiveyoshi ACTUALLY!!! I'm sorry, I flipped on that. Left box is magnetized, right isn't. But you get the idea.
@detectiveyoshi Gotta time it so that the box on the left doesn't get magnetized to the top while the one on the right does.
@ManicAnarchaos You gotta time it so that the left block is magnetized to the wall and the right isn't.
@yhshvoh Just make sure the cart has momentum going back giving you enough time to jump and hop over the electric part.
@CognizantCheddar Totally depends on the person. I know people who got stumped on places for like 10 minutes that others breezed through. I think the fun of it is fixing together the loose ends. at 0:45.. it is easier when you push the cart to the left, and jump on the platform when it's still a bit going to the left.. gives you enough time.
@cprALexe I find it easier to do that part by pushing the cart instead of pulling it, that way you have even less distance to cover.
@Jay4P Push the cart back fast enough so it'll backtrack a bit before hopping onto the cart and onto the platform.
@HDShadow
The "OHHH" moments are great, I agree. My whole point though is that too often in Limbo that moment is trampled on by fickle input requirements that cause the player to still have to attempt a part several times long AFTER they had the "OHHH" moment of simply realizing the solution.

without this walk through this game would really piss me off
Thanks for this I'm stuck on that damn cart now lol I didn't realize how close I am to beating the game already
@xGabicca Limbo is the edge of hell. the place between heaven and hell is called purgatory. Dante's inferno called limbo the first stage of Hell.
The trick at 0:48 is to push the cart backwards rather than pull. I did that and easily got past the electrified platform with more than a second to spare.
that game was really so creative and tricky in some parts
@Aries408CCA push the front of the cart instead of pulling the back, it gives it more backwards momentum.
I love this game I hope they release another similar or a sequel very soon.
@uberdeater Do you realize just how much work goes into making a game like this? I read a Walking Dead tpb in an hour for 11.00 bucks and I don't feel like I got ripped off. @ZombieMonkey7 dunno if this helps, put push from the backside of the cart and jump up, it seems to take more time pushing from the front
@wogboypaul Try pushing the cart back fast enough so it continues to move back while you are jumping on the electric floor.
You forgot to get the secret bubble thingy below the elevator at 5.30 :)
I couldn't figure out the flicking of he gravitational thingy to bring out the box but atleast I found the secret item, haha.

6:14 *slaps palm on face* So,thats how we get that box out of that corner!! THANK YOU! * running back to the game*
@ZombieMonkey7 Keep trying, it's not impossible. Make sure the cart is still rolling back just a tad when you jump on the platform.
i loved this game, a little short but it's still fun :')
@HDShadow
The problem isn't figuring out the solutions, the problem is actually executing them once you know them. Then it just becomes tedious, and that's bad design. The secret is having the cart move away from the button as you are jumping. Use the inertia.
0:47 - dont even jump off the cart just stay on it and push againts the rail - so you push the cart up by walking on it :) you have more time this way :)
as for the cart, pull it back, jump on it, and push towards the ledge..
u push ->>
the cart goes
@ManicAnarchaos Just hit the button as soon as the first block hits the ceiling. (If you're still stuck with it after two months :))
@ChelseasaurusRex Thanks for the tip =] A lot of people are still stuck there.
@muhyyerr I believe it was developed for consoles, there was a designated jump button for those. You would think you'd be able to swap keys, annoying.
Actually, people paid 15 bucks, not 10(15=1200MSP) It was discounted on new years eve but the price went back up
@Reikobi No worries! Happy to help =] Glad you didn't cheat the whole thing =P
@InsaneStealth No problem! =] Happy to help!
@fir3cr4ck3r I don't blame you. That happens with most walkthroughs though haha.
@Doxakne Isn't that where the secret room ends on the PS3 version? I forget.
@Wh1teB0ii369 it doesn't. the way the cart drives from the moment you can jump is still the same.
Actually, that part at 0:49? I've seen maybe 5 or 6 other walkthroughs doing the same thing - and yet, I can't get through that part either. I'm not sure if I'm not pushing the cart back far enough, or what - I can never get across the electrified part in time.
i love playing this game.but i only play it at night
thanks!! works like charm! if u do it good enough u will even have 1-1.5 seconds of extra time :D
I totally missed that gravity multi-touch tech for the second box.
totallymloved this game :D this sequence is a good example of the progression in the game..how every puzzle is harder than the last..
we dont get many games that test our intellect anymore..just dumb games that handhold u through the whole thing ....i hope more games like this come..

@Shaneogrg23 Yeah, I had A LOT of trouble on that part. Thanks though, I'll keep it in mind for the next time I run through it!
perfect, I have played 6/7 parts of the game in a single day...
@amex696 Probably Visual Studio / XNA, since it came out on x-box first.
Lol i did that the same way before looking up your walkthrough :D
6/7 is where the game started to get really difficult for me lol
@HDShadow polkadotpuss is a "new school gamer" which is another console kid who first - can't take a challenge second - simply can't think. Nice walkthroughs man. I was stuck at this kart part.
@yhshvoh Good luck to you! I'm actually planning on trying for that achievement sometime soon.
@HDShadow yeh i already thought something like that
thanks alot, because of you i was able to finish limbo
I didn't want to look too far into the solution of the puzzle and skipped the part where you have to go over the lift to get that second crate out of that magnetic thing, so I didn't have it. But yeah, sorted now.
@Ytrearneindre thanks, it's OK I've finally nailed it and gone on to complete the game : )
the cart part reminded me of donkey kong!
machine guns and anti-gravity fields in limbo. seems legit
How come your cart-thing goes so much slower then mine? I do exactly what you do and I don't make it halfway!
@IMMMedved Thanks, it's OK I've completed the game. That part was a bit of a challenge but your technique sounds good so I may try it some time soon - cheers : )
@fgbraz87 hes not in hell. hes just in a really strange forest.
I didn't think VHS players were capable of running video games.
Well, ironically these games are far better than a lot last generation games. But people is consumed by the videogaming industry, sorry if you are one of em.
This game is fantastic, and that part is hard. =D
@HDShadow
Or just push it from the other side and you'll have plenty of time to make the jump. ;)
@Doxakne I went down there, all there is, is that white glowing thing... What is the point of going down there/those white things?
@ManicAnarchaos Must click 4 times not 3 as the video seems.
@Cod5WawKilla oh you mean the ending at the end? I was confused, I thought you meant another ending..
I was thinking in a sofisticate way to do it... and that was the answer!!
The cart at 0:48 has pissed me off so much
@jeffwads me too, I watched this vid to specifically see how to get it and it just frustrated me that I didn't figure it out. Thanks shadow
@Zuljincz How wrong is it if I got through? :P I suppose. I hope people can figure it out though.
What was the point of 6:00-6:24? I thought there was something maybe hidden. But all I did was move the box out of that little area.
