Nope every time it is not necessary you have to clean your chain every 500km or more than that after washing your bike do use wd40 to avoid rusting and don't wash every week it's not good for the bike it will have rust and pain will wear and tear ..
Too easy to lose a finger here so be careful.

Rinse the nylon brush with WD-40 or chain cleaner after chain cleaning; alternatively, scrub with soapy water and air dry.
