Indore Development Authority (IDA) has approved the development of Ahilya Path. This is a 15 km long and 75 meters wide carbon-neutral road, stretching from Rinjale village to Revati village (Ujjain Road). It will eventually be expanded to 90 meters. The road will include greenery, pedestrian paths, bicycle tracks, and other amenities.
According to the Indore Development Plan 2021, a 15 km long and 75 meters wide road has been proposed in the western region of the city. The proposed plan aims to ease traffic movement in the western region of the city, reducing traffic pressure and pollution in the central area. The 15 km long road will cover approximately 1400 hectares of land across 8 villages, with a total of 5 schemes proposed. The cost of the first phase of the project will be 400 crore rupees.
Ahilya Path will be developed as a carbon-neutral road. It will be 90 meters wide instead of 75 meters. In addition to the 75-meter road, it will include greenery, walkways, bicycle tracks, and other facilities. Dense tree plantations, bicycle tracks, and open green spaces will be increased from 5% to 7%. Public amenities will also be enhanced.
The plan includes proposals for three large urban parks/regional parks. Solar lighting will be installed in all parks and public spaces. The first phase will be from Ahilya Path 1 to 5. Preliminary proposals for urban development schemes based on the proposed land use in the development plan have been prepared from Ahilya Path No. 01 to Ahilya Path No. 05. The construction will be carried out in the first phase.
To build the road, five schemes will be developed on 1400 hectares of land across eight villages. The IDA will soon develop several major projects in the western region of Indore.
Schemes 1, 2, 3, and 5 on both sides of Ahilya Path will be residential. Scheme 4 will be a Fintech City, proposed in Palakhedi and Budhaniya over 214 hectares. The current land use is residential. The plan will be cluster-based development, and land will be made available to financial technology institutions.
A golf city has received in-principle approval to be developed in Palakhedi and Limbodagari villages along Ahilya Path. The current land use includes a green belt and a pond. The golf city will be developed over 566 hectares.
