Great video and learned much more about Wally's in the fall. Great rig for them trolling and jigging. Can't wait for some ice videos again . Hopefully we have a good Ice fishing season coming up
Very helpful video!! Thanks! I kayak fish 5 or 6 days a week in Ontario Canada and those Rapala crush city paddle tails are my absolute favorite baits. Walleye, bass, pike, and lake trout all go for them !! I use regular lead head jigs in 3/8oz or 1/4 oz depending on the depth I want to get to or wind conditions.
I guess it’s more the time of year than the weather for me. Early fall would be mid-September through mid October. Mid fall would be the last half of October and late fall would be November. The fish may be a week or so ahead or behind schedule but the weather more determines how they bite rather than what patterns they follow I feel like.
Always enjoy hooking walleye when they're in shallow during the late Spring and early Fall time frames. Over the past couple of weeks, I've hooked the odd walleye primarily using vertically-jigged blade baits where I fish in Lakes Erie/Ontario. I generally only fish rocky structure beginning late Summer in 20-30 ft of water...still can't keep the smallmouth off my baits!
@@calebwistad They definitely are...and it's fun to hook fish on them. That sudden stop and "thump" on the blade is why I love using them. Some of the largest and most bizarre fish that I've caught were caught on blade baits...including a 20-lb channel cat, and an 11.5 lb 33-inch walleye. What I mean by bizarre is blades tend to catch fish you just don't expect in certain areas of the lake.
Thanks for your very informative videos. Will be up in Vilas County in a few weeks to give some of your tips and recommended products a try. Can’t wait!!! Are you up in that area and do you also guide?
Thanks for the video, very informative. I fish a lake that has very few walleye, but they tend to be big. It's not a place you really target walleye, but maybe I give it a shot.
@@calebwistad October is the only time I've ever caught a walleye there, and always trolling over humps like described in the video, while targeting trout.
Oh yeah. I definitely have some and have been using them. They hold swimbaits incredibly well. Haven’t tried the 360 shads yet but I’ll check them out!
Lots of good responses here but I will add this: fish rivers. Anywhere there is good current breaks at least a few feet of depth you can find walleyes within reach of shore.

Glad to hear it was a helpful video! Yep. Ice season is coming!

They are killer!
Caleb,
Do you have a video on fishing for walleye with bottom bouncers? I tried to find one but didn’t see it unless it’s not in the title.
Not specifically. I’d love to make one and I’ll get to it at some point though!
And thanks for the super!
Great video! Thanks for sharing the techniques.
You’re welcome!
Nice video, Caleb. You didn't talk about what defines fall for you. Thanks.

Nice! Blade baits are be underrated.

That bottom bouncer sure does look funky. Im gonna have to look up how it works
It’s a fish daddy outdoors interchangeable one. Has an LED light on it.

Awesome! Nope, I’m further west and as of right now I do not guide.

Fall would be a great time to do it!

Excellent, thanks!
You bet!
Thank you
You bet!
Your location looks exactly like little bay de noc (Between Escanaba and Stonington penninsula) on Lake Michigan. Am I right?
Nope, this is an inland lake. I’d love to fish that area some day though!
Need to tie on that hsbj swim bait jig now that you are sponsored. It is a killer all year long. Storm 360 shads paired are almost criminal.

@@calebwistad360 shads just are better weighted than the crush city in my opinion. Those new 3.5s. Love crush city on other stuff though.
Great video! Fishing in Door County Wisconsin, should I still target off shore structure October/ November?
Yes, but up on top of shallower structures than right now.
@@calebwistad jig and night crawler or anything else ?
When you are running your bottom bouncers do you use pay attention to how much line you let out? Do you have a rule? Thanks good stuff!
Nope, no rule. Just want to have them just bumping bottom at your trolling speed and about 45 degrees back from vertical.
I catch walleyes in the fall time lake Erie on the pier or the rock number 12 and number 14 husky jerks joint bombers rapala jerkbait
Oh yeah. For sure!
What were you using to for sonar to mark fish?
I was using a combination of livescope and 2D sonar.
I TROLL LAKE ERIE BOTTOM BOUNCE NO PLANER BOARDS GOT 2 MAN LIMIT 6 OUT OF 7 TRIPS THIS YEAR USUALLY IN 4 HRS OR LESS. SIMPLICITY IS THE KEY FOR ME.
Keep it simple if you can!
How do i get'em from shore? I don't have a boat
Wait at the boat launch and take them from the fishermen.
Otherwise go to Fox River by Green Bay
Fish at night when they come near shore
I own 3 boats- 1 is a lund- the piece of equipment that has caught me the most fish in my entire life is chest waders and a 4 foot diving husky jerk 😊
Fish at night, I love dragging crankbaits over rock formations (from 2 inch deep to 4 feet deep).
Lots of good responses here but I will add this: fish rivers. Anywhere there is good current breaks at least a few feet of depth you can find walleyes within reach of shore.
You ever fish castle rock?
No I haven’t!
well i catch large ones in 2 feet water about 20 min before dark
There are certainly places that they will feed that shallow early in the fall but it’s more common later on.
They sure don't do that here in Tennessee early fall they gone
@@daleburke3679 where do they go?
This looks like the most boring way to fish ever lol
Well, I had quite a bit of fun filming it. So not boring to me at all. 😂
