I live 5 miles from the Northern Entrance to the Shenandoah National Park and Skyline Drive. Since I am retired I have lots of time on my hands. Since I am a military veteran I have free access to to Drive. We don’t have that many wild animals in the park, black bear, bobcat, whitetail deer, coyote, rattlesnake all of which I have seen. There are also sightings of mountain lions, which I have not. We do have the occasional tourist thinking that since it a park the animals must be tame. Part of the Appalachian Trail is closed because of aggressive bears looking for food from tourists.

BTW I got held up in my car by a herd of Bison at Yellowstone, and was not sure what was allowed as far as getting them to move along....I didn't want to do something against the rules and get booted from the park. A ranger came along in his truck and drove slowly right up to them and honked his horn. If I get stuck like that again, I would feel pretty safe following that example.
