In this week's Torah portion, Rabbi Fohrman discusses the interesting conversation between the children of Gad, the children of Reuben and Moses, as they are requesting to live on the other side of the Jordan - not in the land of Israel proper. Rabbi Fohrman analyzes their exchange to get to the core of true communication - trust and respect.

Enlightening presentation especially the illustration between deals made with trust and deals ensured with consequences.

In every family there is an Esau. One who wants his reward here and now, and can't be bothered to wait. Reubenites and Gadites incarnated the paradigm of Edom.

Blessings. Thought you might want to know... the music is a bit loud in this video... especially louder than the voice of Rabbi Forhman between around 4:14 - 4:21. Shalom

Thank you very much. It is a very beautiful and deep explanation. The only thing that I would suggest please make the music lower that one can hear the words.
Very difficult to listen because when the most important thought is about to be said the music goes very high and I couldn't hear the main idea of the topic.
Thank you very much for your understanding and future consideration.
Blessings of LOVE and Peace 🙏❤✡

Or is this rather about the art of communication? Were the Gadites and Reubenites intending to participate the battles with the rest of the people from the beginning but they just had to clarify that to Moses? So it seems to me. I think they had the same terms and commitments in mind, and Moses just got it wrong first and needed clarification? Or ... did the Gadite-Reubenite group originally try to play themselves out of fighting in the Land of Canaan, but changed plans as Moses pointed out their selfishness?

If only we would have continued faithfully in the manner displayed by Reuben and Gad we would not have been kicked out of the glorious land! But of course this our dispersion is by design, that the blessings of Abraham our father may be manifested unto all nations! For Adonai YHWH wishes for all men everywhere to honor and praise His great Name and to walk in His ways!

I don’t understand why the need to kill the midianite children? It’s hard to take in and understand. Especially being descendants of Abraham

SOMETIMES WE TRY TO FIGURE OUT OUR CREATOR IN A LOGICAL WAY, THEN WE READ THAT HIS WAYS ARE HIGHER THAN OURS...
IF THE CHILDREN DIE IT'S BECAUSE OF THE SIN OF THE FATHERS...FOR IF THEY WERE TO GROW UP THEN THEY ALSO WOULD BECOME IDOLATORS...
BUT IF THEY DIE IN THEIR VERY YOUNG AGE, HEAVEN AWAITS BECAUSE OF THEIR INNOCENCE...
      IN OUR EYES, CRUELTY...
      IN HIS EYES, MERCY...
      SHALOM ALECHIEM...

Idolatry doesnt merit a death penalty for a gentile.
And lest thou lift up thine eyes unto heaven, and when thou seest the sun, and the moon, and the stars, even all the host of heaven, shouldest be driven to worship them, and serve them, which the LORD thy God hath divided unto all nations under the whole heaven.
      Deuteronomy 4:19
Israel killed the male children of Midian because of the inmorality that was attached to them.
If you ever have a clue what goes on in satanic gatherings , you will understand how even children are corrupted by their parents and society.
