That extra switch in the back was common practice here in KY. They are extra side band channels installed for privacy.....aka little bo peep . I owned and operated a cobra 2000 for many years.
Rooster they are probably not ladybugs, this time of year it's Asian Bettles, not friendly like ladybugs. Bite and irritating as hell when you get alot of them..look em up..
