  • Join John Downey as he takes us on a journey to his farm in South Limerick, where he underwent a remarkable transformation from breeding Limousin cattle to establishing a thriving dairy herd. Faced with the challenges of a tough and unsustainable beef industry, John made a pivotal decision to transition to dairy farming.
Embracing innovation, John introduced cutting-edge technology to his farm, including robotic systems that revolutionized the milking process. Additionally, he made a crucial investment in a Grass Technology Zero Grazer, a game-changing solution that enables him to deliver fresh grass directly to his herd. Since implementing these, John has experienced firsthand the benefits and rewards of his choices.

A lot to be said about opening a gap and letting the cows out to get their own grass. A constant marathon doing 3 loads a days. At the end of the day who is working for who

But he’s not feeding with a mixer, I’d reckon it’d take longer than doing it with a mixer but the cost benefits would outweigh the time taken for sure

Great video. You might have a reason for not using one, but you might think about putting an angle blade on your Yanmar to move the grass over to the fence instead of having to back up and go forward so much with a bucket.

Good video, when cutting grass that way would all the compaction weight not affect regrowth off the grass ?

Cows grazing the field would do a lot more damage to the field than a zero grazer. It is designed to float!

the walking floor could do with adjustment if its automatic or for the operator to pay attention if its manual, not a great advertisement of the system and machine with the grass piling up and falling out

Yeah have to say its a bit excessive alright, I am sure a Modification could be added easily enough.

Bit of operator error but I see it on wagons aswell. If floor not manually moved it over flows. It is an annoyance and does look like a fault in design. I'm sure it can easily be designed out with a few clicks of the CAD mouse.

Why would ye upload this? Fairly poor advertisement for a zero grazer, grass falling off all over the place, loads of stripes left in the field from missing bits and the cows are filthy.... like....filthy. not a good advertisement for an indoor system.
