Dude, you have taught more in this series about electricity and motors than I have learned my entire life and that is 63 years.

I think the reason many people are asking you to do more basic electronics videos is because you're such an amazing teacher. I would also enjoy watching more intro-level electronics videos from you as well. But I certainly understand why you wouldn't want to go there. Thanks for sharing! Edit: And thank you Patrons!

@@Jeremy_Fielding Hi Jeremy 👋, U have great knowledge, With ref to ur prev episode on 1-Phase Motors, I want to re-confirm you that (1) Capacitor Start Motors do not have Shaded poles ? (2) Like then do Ceiling fans have Capacitors then do they have Centrifugal switch ? (3) Also like in Cap Start Motors the switch dis-engages the Cap line but in Shaded Pole motors supply to Shaded Windings is not dis-engaged & they contribute to Magnetic Flux continuously ? thanks & regards Engr Ammad Asim

Thank you, Jeremy! I’ve seen many of your videos and have learned quite a few things and really enjoy them! I am a paralyzed physician/neurologist (paraplegic T11) and knew very little before watching your lessons and explanations. You have been very helpful. You might wonder why? Well, I use a power wheelchair. The best ones it seems are made in Europe. This in turn makes it extremely difficult to get them serviced. Invariably rather than making repairs I am told “this chair is too old to repair, you need to buy a new one” (>$40,000.00!). I’ve been forced into a second profession - wheelchair repairman. Thank goodness for your help! God bless!

Hi Mr Fielding.old(ish) man here. I qualified as an electronics tech 35 years ago.I then ran my own domestic electrical contracting company in Ireland for 20 years. Just recently discovered that I had not worked with motors much since I originally learnt about them way back. Your videos have been a gift to me in my revision of subject. You are,I think, a person who thinks like a true engineer(I've met a few).I also think you are a natural educator.Well done and keep up the good work. Much respect.Frank.

Jeremy, just wanted to tell you that you have the gift of a great teacher/insturctor in bringing things down to their simplest level or finding another approach at making your audience understand. I've been told the same thing with my commercial aircraft co-workers. Understanding the system is the key to troubleshooting. Once you understand the way everything works, troubleshooting becomes almost logical. Thanks once again!

I just love the way you explain the topic. I tell my friends wait! , let me get my coffee, and come on, lets listen to Jeremy, we all have a good time like we're at his home kicking back and talking and learning about motors and stuff. This is how life is suppose to be, isn't it, or is it just me getting emotional with age. I just love his personality, very heart warming, especially in this day and age. :)

I super appreciate how you broke down different motor types and started at square one and built knowledge on top of knowledge. You are a great teacher.
I have watched many videos wondering how motors work and what on earth is the difference. After your series, I know with the exception of the microwave fan motor. Will have to watch that again.

Somebody told me about your motor videos and how good they are so I had to come check it out. Until this fifth video I thought that you were an Electrical Engineer with a gift for teaching. I am an Electrical Engineer focusing on power generation, distribution and storage. I am impressed with how well you taught yourself first but even more by how well you explain it to others. You have a real gift.

Sir... I have NEVER left a comment on a video before, mainly because I've never been as appreciative of anything I've watched on TH-cam as I am right now. I have been interested in motors, in general, for a long time, but never had any formal education on the topic. I've noticed the way in which you are careful in explaining certain things, emphasizing important parts, sticking to the exact topic of the series with your target audience in mind, and providing ample examples to demonstrate what your teaching. This series is EXACTLY what I needed. You know your craft AND, the best part is, you know how to TEACH (which is hard for some people). Thank you so much for your excellent work and for helping me become even more excited about learning how motors work and how to use them practically. I hope you continue to make more videos and help others as you've helped me. Thanks again!
    With Respect & Appreciation,
    Joshua Lopez

The patrons may have helped (enabled) you to do these videos, but you have rocked on actually doing them. In my 58 years I have never seen these mechanical concepts explained with such clarity. Most engineers are much smarter than I am, but their inability to convey ideas in a concise, coherent easily understood manner is legendary. Thank you so much for these vids. You're a generous man.

You make so clear on how it works. The way you speak it comes out so clear. I just came across this video by mistake. I am glad I did I learned so much. But reading and trying to get it straight in your mind is hard. I do know what you mean learning on your own. I did that with programming.I Started back in the late 80's Way before you tube. For me it is different you can see my results and if I worded it wrong it just will not work. What you do if you do something wrong you can get hurt or burn your house down. I really enjoy your video. You might be missing your calling as a teacher.

Respect man! Now even more when I know that you are self taught. I went to college for mechatronics (it's basically mechanical and electrical engineering) and many people (as I was) would be surprised how little practical knowledge they teach you. Most knowledge from those areas I'm using now have to learn my self. You doing pretty good job explaining those things to someone with little knowledge.

First off congratulations for teaching yourself and learning all of this on your own. I am currently in the exact same process. I was getting close to thinking that self teaching about magnetics/induced electricity was a bit too complicated to self teach due to the fact that there are certain areas in this subject, that are simply very difficult to find correct information on. Thanks for the video.

Regarding your explanation as to why you've avoided schematics in this series, from _my_ perspective it seems that you're not only trying to explain the nuts and bolts of how motors work, you're also trying to help the user to build up his or her intuition regarding all concepts pertaining to motors. There _is_ a place for schematics and for the language of symbols, but they seem separate from conceptual intuitions (with respect to motors, in any case). I really like this series, and I've learned (and am continuing to learn) quite a bit! Thank you.

I have only just found this video series, which I have found fascinating, you really do explain everything so simply, thank you !
I was originally looking for information on how hybrid motors work with ICE's ?
    Especially ISG's (Integrated Starter Generators)
Can I eliminate my separate electric starter motor and generator and combine them into one unit that can start my existing car, charge the battery, and power all the necessary lighting functions, etc.
I have looked at the ''Dynastart'' system, which has been in use for many years on cars, but which left me wanting more simplified information, which has led me to your video.
Any advice would be welcome !

Hi Jeremy. I just watched your single phase motor video and now this one...I’ve been in industry for over 40 years and still don’t understand what determines the direction of rotation in a single-phase motor? I think (if I put myself in the average range) most industrial electricians know how to change the direction of 3 phase motors and if a single phase motor has the option of reversing it, they just follow the data plate schematic and voila. I watch these videos and think of what it must have been like for the innovators of electricity in their day. Working in labs, blowing stuff up, measuring and getting that ‘a-ha’ moment!
