One of those awesome feel-good songs from 1988. Me and my lady both still dance to this one and we are now in our 60s. It really gives us a burst of energy. Music is one of the best gifts that we have to listen to.
What an ingenious tune, slide guitar, ragtime groove, that swingin hi-hat with big band bass drum, and Tyler's scratchy vocals. This song never gets old, so many layers of influence. It sounds just as unique now as it did in the hot summer of '87.
Finally we got the remastered version of this video. I might be showing my age, but I remember seeing this video almost every hour on MTV back in the day. Also this needs to played more on classic rock radio.
Part of their resurgence...after years of conflict, lineup changes, drugs and alcohol abuse, they came back with a vengeance. Permanent Vacation has to be one of the best comeback albums of all time (though they did release Smoke and Mirrors not long before, but I consider that the opening act for this album). They got clean, got focused and got back to doing what they do best. This is one of my favorite Aerosmith tracks from this era.

❤ Aerosmith was my very favorite band in high school (the 70's). I saw them in concert in '77. Then I had kids & didn't go to concerts for years. My kids went to the same high school as me. One night I was in the high school parking lot, waiting to pick-up my son. I was listening to Aerosmith & it hit me, that here I was, sitting in this same parking lot, doing the same thing as 20 years before! ❤ I saw Aerosmith in concert again in 1997. 😃
I literally love this song, I'm soo glad I found Aerosmith, I remember I just happened to find one of their albums in a five dollar bin at a Best Buy, and damn I've been hooked ever sense, I'm 17, but what I wouldn't give to go back to the 70's and 80's to see these guys in their prime!
They had a fairly rough ride from late 70's to just about the time of this song (and album), wasn't all happy go lucky for them, what you see in this vid is the start of Aerosmith Mark II.
@@chelsblue7370 Yea, I've heard before that they didn't have an easy time throughout that period. I know they sort of fell off at one point due to the bands drug addiction.
Their prime, performance wise, was actually probably mid-late 90s. They were high as kites in the 70s and early 80s. Late 80s they were kinda figuring out how to do it sober. 90s to early 2000s was peak Tyler vocals. But heck, go see them now if you get a chance. They’re still really good live today.
This was my grandpa's favorite band other than ccr, zeppelin and his Janice. Sometimes these songs put a smile on my face and others they make me bawl. But I know his spirit lives in through these songs. Love you papa, keep rockin
Aerosmith wasn’t just a band that had been around for a long time, they actually had hits that charted for multiple generations. 70’s, 80’s, 90’s, 2000’s…I can’t wrap my mind around that.
Not just the artists but the actual producers behind the scenes. Bruce Fairbairn produced this album. He did a lot of work with Loverboy, Bon Jovi, AC/DC and other major bands.
@Dan HessI just thought I should mention Bruce because I was reading his Wikipedia page and he seemed to play the largest part in the production of all these classic albums, besides the band members themselves of course.
Aerosmith made it big in the early to middle 70s, their content dropped in the late 70s, then got better in the mid to late 80s, and then probably peaked somewhere in the 90s. Regardless of this, whether I think their early stuff was good, or their later stuff, this song will always remain one of my favorite Aerosmith songs of all time.

It had been nearly 15 years after they charted their first single and they were only getting better. What a beat and melody. 1988 had some really great songs. Real music to party to.
The only reason I am listening to this is because when me and my family are on a car road trip we take turns and listen to music, and my dad picked this song when it was his turn and said he listened to this when he was 15 and I really liked it lol

This one should be on the list of all drum teachers. EVERY young drum student loves this one, til this day. Even slow learners are killin the kicks in the chorus in no time, if you play with them on guitar or piano, which works great with this song too. These guys are so so so good! Tyler is a monster!
I'm 78 years old and still love this song by Aero Smith . I first heard it in 1976 on A. F. R.N. Airmed Forces Radio Network while stationed in Germany.
I’m low key convinced that they’re one of those bands that will just never die. Even if all the members are actually dead, somehow they’ll still be on tour.
If only Oliver & Company would have had Aerosmith featured in a Disney movie, it would have been rocking awesome. The movie could've also been a jukebox musical like Permanent Vacation, the ninth studio album from Aerosmith.
This was actually my first exposure to Aerosmith as a kid. Steven Tyler was this funny enigma. Joe Perry look studly workin that guitar. Plus the scat at the end was hilarious to sing along with.

I have a picture I downloaded of him (Steven Tyler) several years ago while he was walking his daughter's dogs. The two looked exactly like my little dogs so I text my husband and told him "Look who dropped by today to walk our dogs"! haha I had my man goin' for a while! Great video of an old favorite right here.
I've seen them in concert 2X and I still have my ticket stubs !! They were my favorite band as a teenager and they're Still my All- Time Favorite band !!! Love their music and their style!! Still loving Steven ❤
This may be the first Aerosmith song that I heard and made me a fan of Aerosmith. Sang it around the house at 10 years old, and my mom was like, don't sing that...
I was early junior high when the song came out just getting into my own music preference. This video captivated me. I don't know why. I still remember seeing it for the first time.
For me, this song exemplifies everything this extraordinary band is all about!. And hey,... it's possibly a step towards establishing "Janie's House". I love it! Thank you, Steven. And the band!
I can't believe I only JUST NOW rediscovered this song after hearing it a lot about a decade ago when I was a child, I'll always be thankful for my mom's awesome music taste ✊
I'm a Guitarist, And this is one of my favorite song by them. By the way They're one of my favorite bands, I saw them Live Five times in Philadelphia, Pa.!!!
Everyone feels that way. In the 90s Everyone wanted to be in the 60s, and the Doors had a resurgence. Probably because of the dystopian war on drugs when you could go to prison for a roach. Though admittedly the 90s were absolutely wild. I am convinced that 9/11 happened to get Gen X under control. We did burn down Woodstock to let the Boomers know how we felt about them. So maybe you are right, lol.
This song just takes me back to my teenage years.
Right on! Same!
Wow you are young.
I don't know how they put this much positivity, swagger, grove and rock 'n' roll in one song. It's perfect.
They are perfect ❤

I'm 78 years old and still love this song by Aero Smith . I first heard it in 1976 on A. F. R.N. Airmed Forces Radio Network while stationed in Germany.
I’m low key convinced that they’re one of those bands that will just never die. Even if all the members are actually dead, somehow they’ll still be on tour.
I’m writing this comment to look it 15 years later while I’m listening this masterpiece
Hope my kid born this year will be listen to it in 15 years...
me too
@@giewus I listen to it all day and night RAG DOLL
What you talking about?
This was filmed mostly in my hometown, it makes me feel proud to live here just because of this video
where was this filmed
New Orleans
Johnson City Tennessee and New Orleans. The Cobra belonged to a guy named Bert- Sigma Nu Theta Chi chapter at ETSU.
This is one of the MTV videos I remember the most as a teenager . Aerosmith been in my brain for many a year 🤘 Rock&Roll legends man
One of my all time favorites right here. If you ask me, and according to the views on this video, easily one of the most underrated songs by them!!
If only Oliver & Company would have had Aerosmith featured in a Disney movie, it would have been rocking awesome. The movie could've also been a jukebox musical like Permanent Vacation, the ninth studio album from Aerosmith.
3:58 will always be the best part of the song.
❤
This is one great band.
You know that Steven Tyler had a hell of a lot of fun filming this.
Yes he was we were there 😁
We are witnesses
This song reminds me of my days in senior high school and when I hear this song I feel like I have to do the keep on truckin style of walking

Click on the three dots directly to the right of the video, and then click on 'not interested in channel,' or' do not recommend.'
We're waiting for more HD remastered videos, and maybe some concert video or maybe an outtake.
I really LOVE this song ❤️✨
Me too lol 😂
This was actually my first exposure to Aerosmith as a kid. Steven Tyler was this funny enigma. Joe Perry look studly workin that guitar. Plus the scat at the end was hilarious to sing along with.

"Tap dancing on a landmine" is such a brilliant lyric
Yes. Steven Tyler is easily one of the best rock lyricists ever.
Linda demais🤘 Amo vocês Aerosmith 🖤🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷
🇷🇸💙🇧🇷👍😺
Best front man hands down! All these years still sounds great!
That's too funny. Lol
Nobody cares
@@Mikemyers2948 I do.

Thats right American Rock and Roll.
Always!!!
This may be the first Aerosmith song that I heard and made me a fan of Aerosmith. Sang it around the house at 10 years old, and my mom was like, don't sing that...
This is rock'n'roll, this is freedom!
OMGGG!!! AEROSMITH IS THE BEST F**IN' BAND OF ALL TIMEEE ❤🎙
Growing up with this band and then watching new generations come along, the line "new version of the old scene" hits a certain way
I love this song too reminds me that good old New Orleans Magic❤❤ love you Hilda Ross
love this song
Aerosmith's rag doll reached at number 12 on the mainstream rock charts and at number 17 on hot billboard 100
i never get sick of their music. i just want MORE. lol Steve Tyler is talented beyond others.
@Joe Perry thanks Joe I'm 👍 rag doll is another favorite
@Joe PerryI,m skeptical. how do i know its you?
@Joe Perry that's great I've been a fan since the start. My son is a fan and he's a lead 🎸 in band cellarr once Openside
@Joe Perry New Zealand
I hate I’ve never been to an Aerosmith concert 🎵 IN MY WHOLE LIFE heartbreaking ❤️🩹
And now, on today’s edition of songs I shouldn’t have been singing on the playground when I was 10… 😂 Still slaps as hard as it did back then.
Me on the playground....fn A theyre gonna bleep you anyway, walk this way...LMAO 🤣
This is my Philadelphia song too . When I was 17 this song came on and it's one of my favorite memories. A memory of a blackout. 🐯
Was blasting this on the way home from kayaking on a lake the other day with clear blue skies, perfect song for a perfect day.
Aerosmith is TIMELESS!!! So Few can cross these borders....🤘💋🤘
Fantastic ❤❤❤❤
Older generation was way cooler than this generation
I couldn't AGREE more!!!🤘 🤘 ❤
Everyone feels that way.
So maybe you are right, lol.
wdym, this gen cool but that gen was mad homophobic
This was the first song I ever danced too at the Glasgow Cathouse rock club. On a first date, many moons ago now 😍😁
