I knew him from Nuest and Wanna One but I wasn't deeply into either groups beyond their music. It wasn't until I watched Alchemy of Souls where he was one of the main characters (tho not the male lead but a big role) that I started to like him enough to check him out beyond the surface level. I really liked his character and as soon as he showed up I knew the actor was Minhyun, so when the drama ended and he had his solo debut I naturally just tuned in and when it was announced that he has a new drama as the male lead I watched it because of him.
His drama is currently airing and it's a bit interesting that I've known of him for like 7-ish years and it took me so long to notice him as an individual. I really like his personality and interviews as well, he's a lot funnier than his image portrays lol.

So abt the career situation: (long comment ahead)
basically nu’est did well when debuting but by the time they released Hello, ppl started to turn away bcs of the concept change. Then Pledis mismanaged them by sending them to China then Japan with zero involvement in Korea when they did. Even when Baekho started to involve himself in production of albums, even if the song quality improved, they were practically unknown by then bcs of this weird plan Pledis put them through, and since SVT debuted, nuest kinda got ignored by the company too. All but 1 member went to PD101 (the 1 member sustained a leg injury) but everyone criticised them badly for competing with trainees though thankfully the longer it went, the better the members were and people grew to like them (minhyun’s ‘hwang emperor’ nickname came during this time). Unfortunately minhyun is the only one who got into W1. After PD101, nuest gained a huge reversal moment, all their songs charted so high! I think most people say that their reversal is definitely one that idols look up to, which is probably why Suga said it felt like a movie being written. Nuest decided to not let that go to waste so they debuted their subunit Nu’est W (W for wait) and said they wanna make sure minhyun can return to a stable group after W1 that he can be proud of. 2019 i think, they reunited as whole again. (But pledis and also hybe seemed to push them aside again bcs they arent as big internationally and here we are)

He seems like a nice guy. At times he seemed a tiny bit uncomfortable even with Suga being best host a idol could ask for since he has been on the other side and would not try to embarrass or pull out to much information. Honestly without the cameras I can see them getting along well once they meet a few times. 💜

There's a documentary about Nu'est. I salute them for hanging till the end. Pledis made wrong decisions on their career. Changing their concept and made them to perform overseas with little following. Even Mingyun said that their fansigning event is like empty . Then Pledis asked them to participate in P101 even though they are mature candidates for it. Only Minghtun pass the test and went on to become Wanna One. It's only a one and half year contract.Thereafter, he will go back to Nu'est again.His ex colleagues formed Nu'est W meaning wait for Mingyun. Before Wanna One's debut, there's a teary exchange between Mingyun and his Nu'est colleagues which has resulted the reverse charting of Nu'est songs. Group became popular. Minghyun had a comeback and the group still maintained their success until they announced disbanding.

@@komerican-og , yes it is. The teary exchange is about Mingyun keeps apologizing to his colleagues that he was the only one who made it and that he did not do it on purpose. Seems like he's guilty of winning and leaving his members even though it's temporary. The other members also cried thus it gained sympathy from those who followed

I didn't knew him neither his groups. So I'm more interested in his acting career
