    Beautiful singing ! ! ! Bravo CARLO BERGONZII !

Such amazingly elegant singing, and he makes a great effort to sing the trills, although the second trill takes shape more completely. Joseph Schimidt sings the best trills, and surprisingly Ben Heppner does beautifully as well. Bergonzi is, IMO, the most elegant of the Italian Tenors. A class act through and through.

Aside from all the technical aspects, Beronzi's quality of tone is near perfect. Thanks for posting.

Like it were yesterday I can still picture him as Riccardo in the Old Met's Un Ballo in Maschera. There was a first-act caballetta (in the rhythm of a trotting horse) he
sang so suavely and effortlessly. Only later did I appreciate how great he was. This was a Gilbert and Sullivan-type patter song-staccato notes rapidly one after another. Extremely difficult even for an Italian.
I was so smitten by his art-voice, acting, technical skill, I saw him at least once per year for the next thirty years. Roberta Peters was the most charming Oscar the
Page you can imagine. What a memory.

Stunning! It makes one realize that Verdi's musical style comes from the 'Bel canto' of Bellini and Donizetti. Wonderful performance. Thank you for posting.

Carlo Bergonzi the last exponent of Bel Canto. Every aspiring tenor should listen to this, it is absolutely masterfull.I Trovatore is classified as middle period Verdi. Its not really. Its the best of the early style of Verdi operas and as Nanbil says it has more of the influence of Donizetti.Trovatore is the true successor to Ernani.

An excellent performance sung with great feeling. The trills are there too :) I just feel at some times Bergonzi's high notes are a little too weak.

All and mean all tenors sounds like vulgar pub singers after you have heard Björling sings this piece.! Although Bergonzi was a fine tenor
