The "Boys in orange" are angels with wings!!!! They saved my life!
Just retired after 30 years of running CG boats. I started out on the 44’ MLB. Those boats weren’t afraid of shit!
It's probably a Break-in coxswain behind the the throttles on the USCG 33' boat.
Those USCG Safe boats can take a pounding.
(Self bailing decks and have a sealed airtight hull)
They’re also equipped with shock mitigating seats for the crew.
And that is not even close to the worst seas that boat can handle, and a 47 wouldn't blink at that small stuff. (They're built to operate in surf up to 20+ feet)
@@erichammond9308 yep I've done many surf drills on the Oregon coast on 44's and 47's 30 srb's too
@@hankschrader149 I used to sport fish at the mouth of the Columbia and watch in awe as the Cape D Coasties trained on the old 44’s off the end of the North Jetty. It was amazing the seas those boats could handle. They would literally punch through a big breaker.
Trust me... Coasties never fail.
USCG looked like it was on a training run with a new Helmsman. Notice at the end how they are pointed for the biggest rollers!
About to say, no loss there, I almost rolled a 44' MLB just to scare the crap out of the new FN from Indiana! They were out playing in the spray best they could in such small waves
@David Does it make you feel better about yourself putting others down? Did your father teach you that? Dont be so cowardly putting some other man down when your not face to face.
@@JohnA891 No shit Sherlock. Don't you think they are held responsible on a daily basis for the maintenance and upkeep of the boat?????
just waitin' for the new blue legend to shows up :)
A wave over the bow for those coasties is like a punch to the head for butterbean.
Would love to see a First Responder special one day! Coast guard letting the boats down, terrible 😂
Check his channel. Pretty sure he did a compilation of first responders.
Coasties playing in some chop. The closest they'll get to actual surf -ops in FLA
@@jasonmoran7425 cool thanks will do, I’ve only been following for about a year 👍
Safe Boats International! Headquarters 20 minutes from my house. 🇺🇸 USCG!
Love the midnight expresd
I think the Coast Guard and any other military vessel should be exempt from Haulover's craziness, even if the run is hilarious! (They win just for serving :-) )
❤ Boston Whaler made it look easy. Texas in the house. ❤ Twin Yamaha nice also. Miami police.
1:05 this guy is a legend like the boston whaler red top guy
The Red Top captain is in a class all his own imo…but this dude is hands down in that class just below the real legend. There’s a handful of these boys that make it look real easy when we all know damn well it’s far from that.
They need to run a 47’ MLB THROUGH THAT. It would blow through
A 47' MLB would sneeze at these conditions. Go find a video here on TH-cam with those boats playing in the surf at Cape Disappointment, WA. Now those are some major incoming rollers.
@@mpgarr no kidding, I have to laugh every time they say "it's a rough day at Haulover..." They've obviously never been to Cape D or Cape Hatteras.
Not really sure how it’s considered a fail for the USCG just another day at the office for them
The coast guard needs to clean the bottom of that boat.
That turquoise water is deceptively beautiful
"unfortunately our boys in orange are going to go home with a loss..." -narrator whenever coasties get after me
Actually it is only the boat that is orange, we Coasties wear BLUE! They were a crew just out having some fun and no damage was done to that boat, SAFE Boats can take way more punishment than this.
Even the mighty have fallen!
Well, I have officially watched every one of your videos on this channel! I have watched many videos on the other channels as well! I cannot say how much I have enjoyed them! I have learned a lot and I only ask for one thing. PLEASE NEVER apologize for calling out the boneheaded boaters who put children on the bow of boats (with or without) PFD! I want to thank you for pushing BOATING SAFETY on your channel! So many creators never go there. That is the biggest reason I am a sub! When I was a kid, my Dad always pushed safety too! THANK YOU for doing a great service! BTW, if I was ever in the market for a boat, I would have to decide between the Invincible and the Freeman. The Invincible might just take the win!
Lol no man, that's abit of splash
i worked for seatow out of houston. its a blast every day brother
Bonus, folks actually brought fishing rods! and the USCG stuff, and that ain't my daddy's Zodiac. A++ content mate'
The Coast Guard probably had rods too. Just hidden until away from the cameras 😅 I know we always did, and heck, Oregon inlet had their rod holders welded on to their tow rail, even left them on when the district boat inspector came around! Master chief didn't play.
I miss the days of being on my 44MLB ‘379, and the Mighty Invincible, 52’MLB ‘313
Cool
I wish you a good day! Let it begin with the freshness of a cheerful morning! Wherever you go, may luck be waiting for you everywhere!
I'm so excited for the Blue Top Whaler play by play....if you don't know what I mean you soon will!
Thing is, on a boat like that does it really matter if they stuff the bow. Riviera, a common Australian boat brand, are designed to take big waves by “stuffing” the bow at high speeds, but just piercing through it
Unlike the Riviera, these _aren't_ designed to be wave piercers. Especially a heavy RHIB like the Coasties were in.
2nd clip 'on patrol' you may have rules for the channel but that boat, IMHO, is there to save the rest of us when something goes wrong. They won the round.
That whaler is gorgeous
If Hulkamania was a boat it would be the midnight express.
What! No everyone in the boat not sitting in the bow today? 🤣
I think the PooPoo were being a little lazy and brought the boat out for a rinse down. Cheers ✌
Seems to me that any one of them that doesn't sink is a win.
Is the haulover like the drivers ed for boating over there or something? I've seen smarter boaters in the ozarks and thats saying quite a lot
The 378 foot Coast Guard cutter I was on stuffed her bow many times on ocean stations Bravo and Charlie and it wasn't the dinky little ripples you call waves at Haulover!
I don't know why I love the Midnight Express boats so much
You should try a ride along with the Coast Guard or a Police unit.
i would put on my life jacket
Anytime the going gets rough, make sure you are facing the back of the boat.
That way, every big wave is an exciting surprise!
@rich keylor First Cav/Vietnam, here: Then a career in the USCG. I miss the fun that the guys in this RHI were having.
Yeah... "Patrol"!
❤️💯👏
I’d have given the USCG guys the win but your game your rules your calls.
Miami Dade obviously have done this before. Great boat handling..
Even the cop boats dont have their antennas straight up for best performance. What do they think they are outriggers?
I’m not sure this guy know was “on plane” means
Any water over the bow is a loss. I would say if you don't sink it, then it is a win.
Hey, lovely channel and love the videos! A question what's the depth of the haulover?
@@oleshka2162 do you know how come we never see a sailboat entering or leaving?
@@sirranjan7618 Not 100% sure, but there's a fairly low bridge up the inlet that won't let you pass underneath unless your outriggers are stowed in the down position, so a sailboat mast would likely an exiting demasting event... 😮😛
Looks to me they had no issues, did a good job.
Metro Dade PD are the best!!!!!!
I think they were all winners because nobody was riding in the bow of any of the boats!
If the occupants don't get wet from the wave it's a win for the boat.
Intrepid is such a bucket that Boat lost as soon as it left the factory. And it looks like there’s Stern hatch blew open but don’t worry it’s only one of about 35 hatches on that boat, none of them are dry and you can barely store anything in them
That is just a coastie wishing he was an admiral at command of a cutter plowing through 40 footers
It does get a little old and tiresome lol but it’s a very rewarding job.
at 4:23 is that the legendary deermeatfordinner? sure looks like him
So when they get past the inlet, does the ocean calm down a little??
Yes. Issue at the inlet is when tide is going out and there is wind blowing on shore. Result is close pitch, sharp, steep waves. A lot calmer outside of channel (ICW end or Atlantic end). Also when wind and tidal current run together, much calmer in the inlet.
How many times can he say haulover in one sentence tho?
Plenty of horsepower on some boats featured on this channel but not enough size to be heading to the big water.
Ive been boating a long time. I think I’d take one look at that and nope out. The waves and traffic are beyond my skill level.
Those waves are actually terrifying in real life when you're on a 17ish foot boat lmfao. You're like a coke can in an ocean and I haven't experienced even close to half these waves size...
How could you give uscg a loss they will come out in any slop or weather shame on you
That USCG looks like a Landrover defender on a RIB
Those old RIBs were fun! There was one at RESTRACEN Yorktown that would cruise at 60kts and turn on a dime! I think they had it overpowered .
3:35 miami dade with some old ass boat lol what kind of boat is it what year? youd think they would have some miami vice type shit... some midnight express or something lol lets goo
Looks like a sea ox, and handles anything over a 4' chop far better than a POS midnight express will
The sheriff was the only boat that took the correct line, near the rocks and out to the calm shoal on the left. I don't know why most boats are trying the go through the center of the inlet, that's the most dangerous part?
Coast Guard .... they usually have to go out in the worst conditions
Coast Guard whips it... Semper Paratus.
Soooo, everyone just ignores the smoother line to the north except the Sherriffs?
With regards to the USCG boat, that vessel is designed to be able to punch right through the rollers. I wouldn't consider that "stuffing the bow" if that is what the vessel is designed to do and more to the point, was probably done intentionally. You either need to exempt any self bailers or give them them the point for beating the inlet at it's own game.
1:17 Coast Guard needs to scrape the bottom
@@recon6746 they're aluminum, and paint hides stress fractures. That's why we stopped painting, the old 41' UTB's back in 1989, and stripped them down to bare aluminum. If I'm not mistaken, that's why all of the newer small boats are unpainted. Someone who was in more recently may know more.
@@erichammond9308 huh. I never knew. I got fiberglass boats so that was never an issue for me. The more you know.
@@recon6746stress fractures are certainly not as big of an issue for fiberglass boats. That said, the way some people slam their way through this inlet at high speed, I can guarantee that, should they continue to do so, they will end up with more than a few hull cracks and perhaps a herniated disc or two. 🤣
How was the coast guard boat defeated? It’s the opposite. Are you watching the same video?
Miami Boat Ramps
Who thinks he should make a top 10 bow Stuffings
Seriously? A little spray is a loss? Compare that to some of the absolute dunkings, they were just fiddling around. Probably had a new kid and wanted to scare him a little bit.
That big power cat at the end slapped the taste outta Haulover...
Power Cat - vs - any of the Florida inlets the odds are five nines in favor of the boat. Just about the only time a cat will lose is if the driver does something _stupid_.
@Repeat Offender Right at the very end of the video there's a custom power cat going through.
A. That’s b.s.the uscg didn’t take the loss they were on a training mission
B. Don’t they have their own heli’s , plane’s, cutters and such
C.now they know who not to respond to
As a former Coastie, I am sure that the way they handled the manner they handled the conditions in the inlet, was a part of training session, either for a well-seasoned, qualified Coxswain, or training someone just at the early stages of getting such hard won designation. As far as the Safe Boat taking those waves over the bow, not a big deal. They are made for those conditions and worse. Those boats are made in the Pacific Northwest, a place where those Haulover waves are baby rollers.
i don’t think its filmed at the same conditions
Embarrassing how that CG boat needs to be cleaned
I wouldn’t want to take a wake boat to haul over.
3:47 blood in water?
Patrol has one L mate.
The USCG has rules as well and being a self righting vessel that cabin door is supposed to be closed when crossing a bar and in heavy going. Rules are there for a reason guys!
LOL, that is NOT a self righting boat. Second, there is no rule that the door must be closed. It is up to the captain of the vessel. I know a few things because I've seen a few things-Former USCG :)
@@frankrizzo5594 actually, that's a 33' footer (listed by safeboats as 35') The 25' defender is actually 29'2" and sometimes referred to as a 30' (albeit incorrectly since as you know the hull numbers are "length of hull" and don't include the foam collar.) However, both are self righting IF equipped with an airbag (I'm not sure if the CG equipped them with the bags or not as they came along well after my time.)

Should probably check that spelling on “patroll”
patrol has 1 "l"
Patroll?
@3:40 it should be obvious to anyone with common sense that a fat person isn't very capable of rescuing a drowning person in the water. What happened to 'fitness' qualifications for people in positions that require fitness to perform their jobs. My goodness.
And the new training that might not necessarily have anything to do with piloting a vessel.....😉😜😉
In my experience local police are the ones giving tickets while others do the rescuing
@@aaronstestlab not in the CG ....Be grateful for some unions....SIU baby 👍💯🕊️
coast guard to slow and close the doors and let it rip
They were just going for a joy ride. Took the waves at their worst, just for some fun. That day with those weather conditions, not even close to being a "Great Coast Guard Day" weather and sea conditions wise. A great Coast Guard day is winds up to Gale Force, seas reaching the worst sea state conditions, spray and rain blowing sideways and its cold!!!
It should of been a 4-1 win got the boats
These guys don't know what break is.
stay in them rough seas 6/8 hours u will pee blood the next day
*patrol
Video vs Dictionary. It looks like "Patroll" well and truly stuffed the bows.
You really can't fault Coasties for taking water over the bow on a safe boat...totally different bow and boat than a whaler or Carolina.
