I found Commedia dell'Arte through a combination of my drama degree, The Second City, and improv in general. It's so amazing to look at all the lazzi's and characters and their function.

  •  12 ปีที่แล้ว +7

I think it should be useful to contribute with this video by introducing a key part of the Commedia: the Canovaccio.
The Canovaccio was a kind of script where all the actions were written. The plot-makers thought a story and then they wrote the main action. For example: Scene 1: Pantalone calls Zanni and tells him to hide his money from his son; Scene 2: the 1st Actor decides to steal the money from his parents to go away with Columbina and so he tells her; and so on. They didn't write any text.

Any movements nor positions were detailed in the Canovaccio as that was the result of improvisations and lazzis that they creating during the rehearsals and performances of the play.
When considering to make a "CommediaD'A-like play", text and emotions should come from improvisation and not from thought text, that way the emotion of it will come right from within and the result will surely be truer.
If you build a Commedia story, use a Canovaccio and see which improvisation works and which not.

    I got the answers!!!
Identify 1 detail that is significant about Commedia? The 1st time girls got to be in theatre.
What is lazzi? A verbal and physical comic business.
Commedia is a template for what, according to Didi? It’s a template for all classical modern texts.
As thanks for my help please subscribe to my channel I feel discouraged I’m not getting noticed a lot.

Commedia started on the streets of Italy in the 1500's - mostly improvised. Troupes travelled around and performed outside-market squares etc.

from my research, Roman Theatre did use female actors. They were mainly extras with non speaking parts, but there are known example of women with speaking roles in late Roman Theatre
