Japan offers minimal recognition, some non-binding certification (they even struggle to deal appropriately with diplomats who are couples from countries allowing it). China and India seem more advanced than Japan as they at least allow unregistered cohabitation, some form of legal guardianship Taiwan is still by far the most advanced country in this regard anywhere in Asia
