I mixed the sound for all of these videos from the Newcastle concert while working at the ABC in 1994. John came in and did one guitar overdub and one line of vocal overdub. It wasn’t an ABC production but made for Sony/BMG 12” video disc with a karaoke version, which I also mixed in the back side of the disc.
Awesome comment. I have the Sing Australia CD that was recorded from this concert. I was wondering where I would find a copy of this concert in video form. You mention it was made for Song/BMG, apart from Karaoke, for what reason?
@@chrisfi3d it was made for general release but 12” video disc wasn’t a format widely used by the general public at the time. It was superseded by DVD a few years later.
@@newhopemedia I understand that, however the 'general release' of the concert on video is an item that doesn't seem to exist. If you could point me towards the produced and packaged version L/D VHS/DVD that the video was produced for, that'll be great.
@@chrisfi3d if I could find a copy of the DVD I’d buy it as well. This video was originally posted, as a shortened version of the original 1 hour video, by Sing Australia. Unfortunately the audio on their posted version was faulty, thin with the left/right balance mostly to the right. They had removed some songs from their upload because of ‘copyright’ issues so it isn’t the full 1 hour. I offered to fix the audio for them as I have a first generation digital copy of the mix. They didn’t respond so I downloaded their video, replaced the audio with my original mix and uploaded it as an example of my work. I have no idea what Sony/BMG called the original Laser Disc or DVD release as my involvement was only mixing the concert in post production.
Nothing like this today. A special place in time.
