If Russia had a leader such as Kasparov it would be a magnificent Russia. A strategist for peace not war. It lies within the hands and the will of each Russian citizen.
I have listened to Kasparov numerous times. He also was one of the historians who spoke on the role of Stalin on a drama documentary series about the 3rd Reich. He seems to have a handle and deep insight on Russiann affairs. His criticisms of Putin are credible. If he can apply his genius chess mind to being a leader, he may well be what Russia truly needs. Finally to bring hegemony to many decades of tension in Europe.

ukraine has been an independent nation for 30 years..why have they not built up their defense forces so that they are not dependent on the United States for military and financial help
1.Ukraine has been independent for 30 years in theory but in actuality it was controlled by Russian puppets until 2014
2.Ukraine was made to give up its Soviet inherited nuclear arsenal on the condition that Russia would never invade them
3.Ukraine has built up their defense forces greatly since 2014 but its simply not enough to keep up with a country as large and resource rich as Russia.

Two generations of Ukrainian boys and at least tens of thousands of civilians are now gone. Was the great chess master correct with the benefit of hindsight or would it have been better for NATO to accept one of Putin's many diplomatic offers - including before entering into Ukraine (see "LIVE: Jens Stoltenberg speaks to the EU Parliament" on September 7, 2023 - @8:30)? I think the calculus is pretty simple. How could such a great board game player have a problem predicting if a tiny breakaway republic with no air force could "win" against a global economic and nuclear superpower? Hmm...

@@Ast151 :Kherson was abandoned by the Russians for tactical reasons, the Ukrainians did not conquer it militarily, and that is a fact, and it proved good that they did it, a good move.
Smart man Kasparov but much of the burden to help Ukraine comes from the USA. Ideally it should be coming from exactly those countries that are knee deep in socialism and paying for their socialism instead of having adequate military to defend themselves and their allies.
