New to vaping let the guys at the shop guide me in my purchase. I am into all kinds of tech so o ended up with a new 75w kbox mini starter kit. I specifically told him I don't want to deal with an pocket full of juice like some of my friends and guess what. My last effort before I returned it (shop warranties defects like this) and you have fixed it. I found instead of mine being long it didn't sit in the groove and when I pushed it into the groove I got instant seal and no more leaks. Thanks!!

THIS WORKED! Simply on point. There has been ZERO leak since I did this a few days ago. I just shoved the lead sticking out into the rubber seal. Even sent the link of this video to Kanger. Note to uploader: I opened up my new Kanger OCC box. 3 of 5 coils had the lead sticking out! Since your advice clearly is the right one, I would advise you re-make this video using an OCC with lead sticking out as an example. And do also include how you can safely clip the excess lead as well. Thanks again buddy!! Saving me money!

worked flawlessly. just had to bend the pins above and below the red gasket. once I removed the coil, I saw how the gasket wasn't aligned and pins were sticking out. I just wasn't sure where to look at. thanks for the tip.
This is incredibly helpful. I took my coil out and it the damned O-ring was just not in place, at all. The wire that goes into the hole was far from it and it was sticking out on both sides. You can imagine the size of the leaking! I fixed it now and hope that it doesn't leak anymore. It's brand new! Thank you for your help!

This was driving me feckin' MENTAL; bastard thing leaked a whole tank into my jeans - not an easy look to pull off and now all I need to know is how to dismantle/clean the on/off lighty-uppy button, which has been erratic ever since it got an oil bath. Didn't work at all until I shoved the whole thing into the tumble dryer outlet for forty mins...
I just bought a new tank due to this exact type of leaking from the air vents. It worked for one day, and then began leaking from the air vents again. Extremely frustrating to say the least. Im going to pull the tank apart, and see if I can implement this fix. Thank you for the information, sir..
I'll give this a try, cause honestly, I'm on my last FUCKING THREAD OF PATIENCE with this whole vaping thing! It's great being able to still "smoke" without smoking, but when I'm constantly getting juice on my hands and having to wipe the device down all the time, it's becoming so bothersome, it's almost not even worth it anymore.

Don't go back to smoking , Vaping is the best alternative, You just got a bad tank. Go get a different Tank..or a Smok Kit. If you don't have the money right now just get a pen set up that will get you through until you can buy a better Kit like a Smok Kit. . Vaping can be a challenge at first but don't give up!
There's one step before putting the end pieces together. Check the coil wire ends are on correctly. One end is directly to the coil and is placed at area of the red seal and metal edge of nipple. The other coil wire end is placed through the opening of seal to contact metal node when screwed to base. This end is insulated of the coil wire other end. You might need magnifying glass if your eyes can't see ends through the nipple opening. Some tanks require refill by inverted tank(upside down) if only the inhaler nipple is only removalable part of tank top. Tank top is screwed on inverted after refill. Wash out leaked fluid from base and dry before use. Hope that helps.

Mine was leaking like crazy to the point where I didn't want to use it. I tried this while watching your video and sure as shit the wire was laying across the seal and that's where my juice was leaking from. Now it's perfect. Not a drip. Thanks!!!!

Great explanation. I used this on my NEBOX which leaked like shit. I tried the RBA Deck, no leaking but the airflow holes are not wide enough for my preferred vape. So I went and bought a 5 pack of these exact OCC heads. They all have wire sticking out of the bottom. Cured now. Thank you very much.
Hallelujah!! I had just started using the ceramic coils and was told I must have gotten a bad batch. Third leaking coil in two days and I thought I was going to lose my s###. On a side note, being that I have longer fingernails, I was able to just push the excess wire inward after pulling the bottom button out a bit. I didn't need to cut the wire and it still did the trick. I can't thank you enough!

+WhoahCanada As a matter of fact, no it isn't still working. It lasted a day or so and then the leaking started again. I gave up and ventured to learning to rebuild. Much happier with my RBA.
See that white rubber stopper in the coil that's also a culprit. You tighten that too much and it would just press out causing tiny gaps for the juice on the tank to leak under the coils and through the base air vent. Regarding the tiny wire sticking out I thought also it was a defect but never had a leak problem with it.
Will do that soon bro. It's still a hit and miss for me. If it leaks a messy way of doing it is just to remove the rubber, wash it and put it back in the coil head properly and screw it back and test again. Even if the coil head is still good. One more thing a chain vape heats up the coil head making that rubber elastic that also causes leaks.

+Lucy Wheeler Haha I was about to post same thing, then I saw your post!, If liquid got anywhere near that gasket, it's already in the intake chamber... Wick problem is what causes leaking. That gasket is just a seperator between the anode & cathode you're correct :)
So, I just bought a new Kangertech TopBox Mini. It looks identical to the one in this video (maybe it is slightly different...this video says his is a Subox). Regardless, I received it today, and based off of a review video I had watched, I had bought 5 of the coils just like in this video. I pulled out the one that came with the unit and replaced it with one of these coils before using it. It leaked everywhere just like in this video. I thought I had overfilled the unit. I took it all apart and cleaned it just like this guy says to do. I put it back together and it leaked again...took it all apart and cleaned it again. By this time I was highly aggravated as it is a quite time consuming process. So I changed the coil to another new one just like the one in this video, and the same thing happened. I tried to clip the wire just like in this video, but the entire end popped out and fell on the floor and then both pieces went flying into the garbage can at 100 miles per hour. I put the coil in that came with the unit...and it hasn't leaked since. I'm thinking they have changed their coils due to this issue, and that these types of coils are not worth buying. Maybe that's why I got such a good deal on them. So far since I put the original coil in I am finally getting to enjoy this unit.
I think you solved my problem. Thank you. Strangely - it only leaked when in horizontal position in my pocket. It didn't when i smoked it in the upright position, however, excess vapour could still be seen coming from the breathing hole. I am going to put and RBA coil in it from now on, that should solve the problem.

Your right in that there is an o-ring failure on the coil, but it is not the red one. All that one does is insulate the +ive and -ive terminals. The O-ring at fault is the clear one above the thread. it is just simply not thick enough and doesn't seal properly. the only fix would be to install a very thin O-ring on the tank above the coil thread. this will fix your leak, but it has to be very thin otherwise the coil won't make contact with the +ive terminal at the bottom.

The only way that I see this fixing a leak is if the wire is avoiding the coil to be screwed in all the way, causing the actual white/clear seal at the base of the the boxy part from creating a seal. That white seal avoids liquid from inside the tank from leaking inside the intake chamber. Liquid shouldn't be reaching that red insulator in the first place. There are two types of leaks, leaks from the tank to the intake chamber, which means the white/clear o-ring isn't doing it's job (usually because the coil isn't screwed in correctly. The second type is when it leaks from inside the coil chamber, down into the intake chamber. This usually happens due to "over-wicking". So somehow too much juice is entering the coil chamber. Of course, I can always be wrong, but that's my experience with these tanks.
Great vid mate! For you pogues who can't follow direction: make sure you DON'T cut off too much and make sure it is STILL making contact with the casing. If you are rubbish with a needle nose pliers and a clipper ask your mum to do it for ya.
I've been having this problem since I got the subtank plus. I opened up the coil like you did, and I had the exact issue with the coil wire poking out. I have done what you suggested. I will give this a go. Fingers crossed

Thank you, been having leaking problems and have just tried this, will post back with results. On mine both ends of the coil was sticking out, bottom one was not in the gap and the top one was sticking out as you described. Moved and adjusted, hoping for the best. This was on a .5 Ohm coil
Being as careful as possible, I followed the instruction in the video. Now the new coil is busted (completely open ohm load) and... still leaks. This is not by any means a guaranteed remedy and will most likely cost you the money spent on a new coil. Kangertech needs to acknowledge this problem as it is messy, costly, and potentially dangerous.

Now I am going to give it a cut to see if that fixes the problem! I hope it does because I am getting an amazing flavor from the .5 coil. Really really good flavor!

Anyway, was going to add that using (cleaned or new) nail clippers is a great way to control your coil trimming, in addition to having just taken the assembly apart and putting it back together manually may also be what "fixes" it. Regardless, brand new ktech Kbox mini c leaked like Snowden the first day I got it and following this vid immediately corrected the issue. Great find and video, guy! Many thanks.
This partially fixed it for me, but the length of the wire is only one part of the problem. After refilling the tank, and a few drags later it was completely clogged and leaking AGAIN!!! Then I noticed that by screwing the tank back-up I had inadvertently closed the air vent completely. I guess that the suction force was then too strong for the coil to burn all that liquid and it started leaking from the base of the device. So I opened the air vents completely and blowed hard in the mouth piece a few times, eyes closed and with a tissue near the vents to soak the liquid. Once no more juice was coming out, I set the air vents to let in just a tiny bit of air. So that would be my advice : NEVER COMPLETELY CLOSE THE AIRVENTS WHILE VAPING. Hope this helps :) Cheers

I'm going to try this with my boyfriend's coils. He replaced his coil and it leaks no matter what now. He's brand new to vaping and it's been so frustrating for him. If he leaks, he won't use it and he'll keep smoking. He loves vaping instead of smoking, but hates the unreliability with the leaking issue. The comments say this is the key :)

im currently testing it, like putting the tank in the way that earlier on it was leaking the shit out, but it's not anymore.

+Sneaky “Nick” Beaver I just tried it last night. I think what's happening isn't that it's leaking through the gap, but the because of the gap we can't screw it in enough.
mine is fine about 12 hours later so we'll see...

+WhoahCanada As a matter of fact, no it isn't still working. It lasted a day or so and then the leaking started again. I gave up and ventured to learning to rebuild. Much happier with my RBA.

See that white rubber stopper in the coil that's also a culprit. You tighten that too much and it would just press out causing tiny gaps for the juice on the tank to leak under the coils and through the base air vent. Regarding the tiny wire sticking out I thought also it was a defect but never had a leak problem with it.
Will do that soon bro. It's still a hit and miss for me. If it leaks a messy way of doing it is just to remove the rubber, wash it and put it back in the coil head properly and screw it back and test again. Even if the coil head is still good. One more thing a chain vape heats up the coil head making that rubber elastic that also causes leaks.

Wow what a great video, i just got this new e cig and i love it but was worried about te leak problem which you have fixed. you should let kanger know that some of their coils arn't finished properly. Thanks a million for sorting this issue out for me.

+Lucy Wheeler Haha I was about to post same thing, then I saw your post!, If liquid got anywhere near that gasket, it's already in the intake chamber... Wick problem is what causes leaking. That gasket is just a seperator between the anode & cathode you're correct :)

So, I just bought a new Kangertech TopBox Mini. It looks identical to the one in this video (maybe it is slightly different...this video says his is a Subox). Regardless, I received it today, and based off of a review video I had watched, I had bought 5 of the coils just like in this video. I pulled out the one that came with the unit and replaced it with one of these coils before using it. It leaked everywhere just like in this video. I thought I had overfilled the unit.
I took it all apart and cleaned it just like this guy says to do. I put it back together and it leaked again...took it all apart and cleaned it again. By this time I was highly aggravated as it is a quite time consuming process. So I changed the coil to another new one just like the one in this video, and the same thing happened. I tried to clip the wire just like in this video, but the entire end popped out and fell on the floor and then both pieces went flying into the garbage can at 100 miles per hour.
I put the coil in that came with the unit...and it hasn't leaked since. I'm thinking they have changed their coils due to this issue, and that these types of coils are not worth buying. Maybe that's why I got such a good deal on them. So far since I put the original coil in I am finally getting to enjoy this unit.

I think you solved my problem. Thank you. Strangely - it only leaked when in horizontal position in my pocket. It didn't when i smoked it in the upright position, however, excess vapour could still be seen coming from the breathing hole. I am going to put and RBA coil in it from now on, that should solve the problem.

Your right in that there is an o-ring failure on the coil, but it is not the red one. All that one does is insulate the +ive and -ive terminals. The O-ring at fault is the clear one above the thread. it is just simply not thick enough and doesn't seal properly. the only fix would be to install a very thin O-ring on the tank above the coil thread. this will fix your leak, but it has to be very thin otherwise the coil won't make contact with the +ive terminal at the bottom.

The only way that I see this fixing a leak is if the wire is avoiding the coil to be screwed in all the way, causing the actual white/clear seal at the base of the the boxy part from creating a seal. That white seal avoids liquid from inside the tank from leaking inside the intake chamber. Liquid shouldn't be reaching that red insulator in the first place.
There are two types of leaks, leaks from the tank to the intake chamber, which means the white/clear o-ring isn't doing it's job (usually because the coil isn't screwed in correctly.
The second type is when it leaks from inside the coil chamber, down into the intake chamber. This usually happens due to "over-wicking". So somehow too much juice is entering the coil chamber.
Of course, I can always be wrong, but that's my experience with these tanks.
Great vid mate! For you pogues who can't follow direction: make sure you DON'T cut off too much and make sure it is STILL making contact with the casing. If you are rubbish with a needle nose pliers and a clipper ask your mum to do it for ya.
I've been having this problem since I got the subtank plus. I opened up the coil like you did, and I had the exact issue with the coil wire poking out. I have done what you suggested. I will give this a go. Fingers crossed

On mine both ends of the coil was sticking out, bottom one was not in the gap and the top one was sticking out as you described. Moved and adjusted, hoping for the best. This was on a .5 Ohm coil

Being as careful as possible, I followed the instruction in the video. Now the new coil is busted (completely open ohm load) and... still leaks. This is not by any means a guaranteed remedy and will most likely cost you the money spent on a new coil. Kangertech needs to acknowledge this problem as it is messy, costly, and potentially dangerous.

Thank you for this video!! I recently got mine and it was leaking like crazy. I took it apart and looked it over and the wire sticking out did catch my eye but I didn't think anything of it. Now I am going to give it a cut to see if that fixes the problem! I hope it does because I am getting an amazing flavor from the .5 coil. Really really good flavor!

this is super helpful! I've been having the exact same problem and you were right, when I unscrewed it the wire was sticking out. so I trimmed it and pushed it back a bit, I'll update if I think it solved the problem
Wow. Can't merge posts, still? Anyway, was going to add that using (cleaned or new) nail clippers is a great way to control your coil trimming, in addition to having just taken the assembly apart and putting it back together manually may also be what "fixes" it. Regardless, brand new ktech Kbox mini c leaked like Snowden the first day I got it and following this vid immediately corrected the issue. Great find and video, guy! Many thanks.
This partially fixed it for me, but the length of the wire is only one part of the problem. After refilling the tank, and a few drags later it was completely clogged and leaking AGAIN!!!
Then I noticed that by screwing the tank back-up I had inadvertently closed the air vent completely. I guess that the suction force was then too strong for the coil to burn all that liquid and it started leaking from the base of the device.
So I opened the air vents completely and blowed hard in the mouth piece a few times, eyes closed and with a tissue near the vents to soak the liquid. Once no more juice was coming out, I set the air vents to let in just a tiny bit of air.
So that would be my advice :
NEVER COMPLETELY CLOSE THE AIRVENTS WHILE VAPING.

I'm going to try this with my boyfriend's coils. He replaced his coil and it leaks no matter what now. He's brand new to vaping and it's been so frustrating for him. If he leaks, he won't use it and he'll keep smoking. He loves vaping instead of smoking, but hates the unreliability with the leaking issue. The comments say this is the key :)
