Batman’s arc in this movie is perfectly surmised by one consistent bit of physical acting
1.) Bruce is visibly squinting in the entire scene where Alfred is trying to decode the first cipher because of daylight streaming in from the windows
(“Two years of nights have turned me into a nocturnal animal”)
2.) At the end, when Bruce is helping the woman being airlifted, he’s looking up, clear and wide-eyed in the daylight
Vengeance in the night -> Hope in the light

    2 things:
    1. It’s awesome as hell that both Batman and the Batmobile get basically the same intro, where you hear them before you actually see them. Absolutely pitch perfect Batmobile sequence with perfect build in tension.
    2. Love how subtly funny Bruce is in this, contrasting how dour he is. Constantly turning phrases and being a smartass, but not in a cocky way, more biting. “Alright, I got you on assaulting an officer!” “You got me on assaulting three”

idfc what people says about the movie. I love this movie so much, I think this is a great movie and I don't get the hate this one's getting. this is an immature version of Batman/Bruce Wayne, it's his sophomore year for fuck sake. his gadgets aren't that hi-tech just yet, his fighting skills aren't really that honed just yet, and he's too emotional compared to the other Batman where they are already completely incorruptible especially the Christian Bale's Batman in The Dark Knight. people really need to realize this one, that this is a young Batman who's just thinking he can avenge his parents by punching random thugs in the face or getting surrounded by 20 thugs and tell them "I'm not locked in here with you, you're locked in here with me!"

I will never stop raving over this movie. The shot as he literally leads the people of Gotham out of the darkness is absolutely beautiful. Bruce’s realization that being “Vengeance” is not actually creating good in the world and that if he truly wants to make the world a place where nobody has to lose their parents he needs to be better. He needs to care more, he needs to be Batman.

    • @Senny_V
      @Senny_V 2 ปีที่แล้ว +55

AND he needs to be Bruce Wayne. This movie was him realising what he needs to embody as Batman, but the sequel will have to show what he can do as Bruce, since this movie showed us a Bruce who didn't really know what to do with the massive power that comes with being a billionaire

    • @Blueeyesthewarrior

I especially love Batman's relationship with Gordon in this film. It feels very unique from other iterations where they basically treat each other as equals. Here, Gordon almost seems to begrudgingly look out for Batman out of pity and often voices his frustration with the guy's caginess. I almost get George and Lenny vibes from their relationship, like Gordon fears the idea of Batman snapping and going too far one day and having to put him down. I also love how the two actually share a bit of a chuckle when Gordon tells Batman to punch him in the face so he can escape. We never really get to see that side of Batman in the movies.

I always found it fascinating that as Batman he stands taller than even most of the cops. He towers over everyone he talks to as this intimidating force but as Bruce he seems almost reserved and like hes hiding in on himself. He always keeps his head sort of down and slouched not really meeting anyones eyes. It goes to show just how split the two personas are from each other at this point. Honestly that difference that Robert displays made him my favorite live action batman. No disrespect to any of the others (especially adam west) but this is a batman that is broken and suffering in his own personal hell and it is fascinating to watch. Throughout the movie i also noticed that he basically lives the line from Iron man in the MCU "if you need the suit you dont deserve it" towards the end of the movie we see him becoming more confident and grounded. His two personas mixing to form THE batman and by the end of the movie we see him become someone worthy of the suit and the symbolism behind it

The Batman is a fantastic film. This movie really explores batman in a very different way. Robert Pattinson does a phenomenal job as the caped crusader, so much so that when you look at batman, you also see Bruce Wayne and his inner torment and darkness lurking within. The scenes with Bruce without the suit interacting and Alfred were very effective and powerful. All the characters are true to what they are supposed to be like. All the actors which include Robert Pattinson, Zoe Kravitz, Jeffrey Wright, Andy Serkis, Collin Farrell, Paul Dano do an excellent job at helming these iconic characters. My only problem is that at times the characters survive things that they shouldn't be able to. The story is very well thought out and meticulously planned and crafted. The Villain, Riddler, is tragic, understandable, smart, cunning, and overall effective and I had no problems with him. The action is expertly choreographed, very well shot and confidently directed. This is by far the best looking batman movie. I love the Nolan films. The Dark Knight is one of my favorite movies and favorite superhero film. But the cinematography by Greg Freizer is just pristine and down-right gorgeous. This film's visuals are on a whole another level. This is probably the best looking comic-book films I Have ever seen. It's only real competition is Aquaman (great looking film). Now Michael Giacchino had a very difficult task ahead of him. The character of Batman has been blessed with beautiful scores over the years, from the iconic score by Danny Elfman, to the underrated score in the animated series and the energetic and exciting score by Hans Zimmer and James Newton Howard (My Favorite). The Legacy is hard to Live up to. But I am happy to say that Michael Giacchino has composed a flawless score for this film which itself was enough to put me on the edge of my seat. Its just a testament to why he is hired to compose so many films. This is the best Batman score since The Dark Knight trilogy. Now I won't spoil, but at the end of this movie, Bruce learns a lesson and it was beautiful. The arc he has as Batman is amazing. It is something I have never seen in a comic-book film, and it perfectly sends the message of what a hero is meant to be. This film actually delves deep into one aspect of Batman that the other films only addressed, and that is that he is 'The World's Greatest Detective'. That is what made the film so unique and fresh, the fact that is truly a mystery movie. Overall, you can probably see that I am very happy. I am honestly at a place with Batman right now where I have not been in a long time. This is my favorite Batman, DC, and probably favorite comic-book movie since The Dark Knight. its only real competition is Joker(2019). The Batman is an incredible experience. If it weren't for that problem I mentioned, this movie would have probably been better than The Dark Knight for me. This film is a technical masterpiece, and is beautifully written. Matt Reeves is truly one of the best film-makers working today. He showed promise from the start with films like The Planet of the Apes sequels and Cloverfield, and with this movie's trailers. The movie lives up to my hype and I had a Blast. In short, Go Watch It.

The monologue. The amazing lighting. The epic shots. The suspense. And the fights in this movies is what I know is the top Batman movie that I don’t see being topped anytime soon. I had my doubts the dude from the Twilight movies would make a good Batman, but holy cow he is a nearly perfect one with him being both Bruce and Batman.

14:50 love the point because it reminds me of the panel where WW, Superman, and Batman all hold onto her Lasso and say their names. Of course the words that come out of Batmans mouth are literally "Batman". He IS Batman, and Bruce Wayne is a facade.

Th first 10:00 minutes of The Batman, says it all about Batman and the criminal element. "Fear is a tool, and they do not know where I am." The guy Batman SAVES at the train station from the criminals was even afraid of him. This film can be taken off the pages of a Batman comic, has multiple layers of story there is not just one criminal element of the story.

I 100% loved this movie. It gives us a Batman we rarely ever see. That the sheer PRESENCE of Batman was intimidating, almost stifling in a way that made you uneasy. Not to mention I love his relationship with Gordon here and seeing them actually work together was awesome. The Riddler actually unnerved me while watching this and the fact he technically won in the end...this is not a Batman movie we are used to, but I will so see a second one.

I absolutely love this version. Paul does so well with acting as both Batman AND Bruce Wayne. Plus, this movie goes way more into his roots. Some of the more recent movies go more into his fighting and backstory, but this one goes more into his roots as a detective. It's called DC for a reason, and this reminds fans where Batman as a character started. Plus, the more creepy version of the Riddler and the mystery and misdirection works SO well with the detective Batman. I love this version so much and am so excited to see if more like this comes from DC. If it does, they can do a lot better than they have. They tried too hard to catch up to Marvel, but this new version can actually work for some audiences! I love this so much.

Eh I wouldn't go as far as to claim incel; if anything he does have a fair reason to be upset (not excusing his actions) with how the system has treated him and others being disregarded. Also incel description is more associated with the dislike of those who are active intimately (especially hostility towards women hence that's commonly seen) while they themselves aren't with anyone, so I wouldn't really use the word incel to associate it with him.

Battinson was way better than I ever expected and I was one of the few people actually excited for him. Colin absolutely crushed it, Jeffrey was a great Gordon, and of course Kravitz was incredible. It sucks this series is going to take multiple years for each film because I want so much more

It makes you watching the movie excited while also showing the sheer terror of being chased by the Batman. The score in the scene with Alfred in the hospital deserves a mention. We've been battered with all these dark, pounding, brooding themes constantly with no reprieve, and then for the first time, at the EXACT moment Bruce realizes how afraid he is of losing Alfred, the score makes a brief but definitive change to a major key. It just feels like there's hope, meaning, clarity, and renewed purpose, that there's a light at the end of this and things are looking up. It's the first real time the score does that, and it is super powerful for the contrast. And what does Bruce do when he takes Alfred's hand at that moment? He looks up, he sees the light in the sky, and we're off to the climax.

During the scene at 9:24, there was a VERY little kid in the audience and he lost it. He was absolute screaming and bawling that he was scared, and for good reason it's a creepy scene! His parent or guardian had to carry him out of the theater because of how hard he was crying.
But parents, grandparents, PLEASE do your research before taking your kids to a movie and PLEASE be courteous to other movie-goers and don't bring your young child to opening night DURING the night. Go during the day when there's less people or wait until the movie has been out a while.

6:08-6:16 A missed win is the audio mix. I shall always praise this film for how they set the sound levels to have the club music at the same level as normal audio and the thuds from hits and speech be muffled instead of the usual approach of keeping speech and sound effects normal and the music deafening. Good sound mixing deserves much more recognition than it gets.

For me it was all about that first scene, I was sold in the first 5 minutes.
For as much as I love Nolan's trilogy, no other movie was able to depict so well what Batman means for a bad guy. The thief running with the money, stopping in front of a dark alley and choosing a different route. You can actually see what's going on in his head: "He can't be everywhere. Why should he be there? Come on he can't be there....But what if he is?" Pure genius.

Just a little fighting detail I loved. When Batman and Catwoman are having their scuffle, Batman absolutely manhandles her, even casually keeping her quiet while the room is swept.
Really sells the weight and presence of the Batman. Yeah he's a dude in a suit, but at 6'1 and with all that armour nearly 300 pounds, he's about as physically dominating as a person can be. Especially in an action movie environment where martial arts and training seemingly let anyone of any physical capacity and size beat up anyone else no matter the disadvantage, to have all his physical might overcome those rules grounds him as such a realistic threat to criminals in the this version of Gotham, especially when most of them are overpowering people with surprise attacks and desperation. By his world's standards, this Batman is legitimately a monster.

One of the things Loved about this movie is Batman's whole operation felt like something 2 men with a lot of money could accomplish. The Batcave isn't a gigantic underground labyrinth that would have taken 1000 construction workers and several engineers to build. It's an abandoned subway. The batmobile isn't a one off supercar, it's a Charger with a suped up engine. Etc.

One of the best parts about this movie is that we get to actually see Batman so much. Most superhero movies has the hero out of costume for half the movie, cause the actors wants their face to have certain amount of screentime. It's a contract thing, and i'm so glad it looks like Pattinson didn't care about the arbitrary "exposure" most others do.
