Listen to the whole recording again and notice that 1) husband knew EXACTLY what incident wife was talking about with no prompting and 2) he hesitated when stating the story. My theory: Wife's gut is strong. Husband and best friend were cheating together and hyperaware so he picked up on when the wife started noticing things. He had a LOT of time between then and the call to cover his tracks and think of a story by the time she asked. Verdict: He's the guy that Diane is cheating with. Why wouldn’t the best friend tell her best friend??? Even if I don’t approve my best friend would tell me and I wouldn’t judge her I would just tell her it’s not right and she needs to stop but I would still hear her out.
It`s possible that Shannon`s best friend was cheating with one Shannon`s husband`s friends and why he got into an argument with Shannon`s friend and didn`t tell his wife not wanting to get his friend into trouble and becoming the piggy in the middle. I know, I`ve been in a similar situation myself. I believe this was the case.
I don’t know why it’s so hard not to believe her husband. I don’t know why it’s so hard to believe it would put him in a bad spot between his wife and her best friend. Could it be that he was looking out for the best friends husband as well and trying to keep it under wraps, get her to quit seeing the other guy and hopefully keep their marriage intact.
