The only bloke who held his bottle for us was Poulter. Great pairing indeed, however the Ryder cup isn't won on the first two days and at Medinah it proved so. All the cheerleading by Keegan and flag waving by his caddie amounted for nothing at the end of the day. Screaming and shouting doesn't win you the Ryder Cup, good golf does and the reality hit home for Keegan on the final green on Sunday, his face was priceless
This comment confuses me. It sounds like you’re saying Keegan got what he deserved by being excited about winning his matches on Friday and Saturday. Both the Euros and US get excited about winning on Friday and Saturday. Is it wrong to get excited about making a big putt or winning your match? You sound kinda bitter.
The point is, Keegan was widely perceived to have gotten over-excited. The relentless fist-pumping and playing to the crowd like the Cup had already been won, and his caddie twirling the flag over his head like a maniac. As a result, we Euros did get a lot of satisfaction from seeing Keegan brought back down to earth on Sunday. I’m sure you got the same satisfaction from seeing Sergio’s tears on Sunday at Brookline. It’s just a reminder that humility in sport is always a safer bet than arrogance.
