That’s actually quite interesting that Ewan (at least publicly) explained that he didn’t watch Game of Thrones because he didn’t want anybody’s performances from that show to affect his performance of this role. I think that’s at least an interesting way of approaching a show like this. I think neither Emma nor Olivia had ever seen the show when they auditioned, but Olivia says she’s seen it since. I don’t think it’s necessary viewing to do the job as an actor; if they enjoy it, then that’s one thing. But it’s a job and however they need to approach it to beat act their part is up to them. It’s just an interesting philosophy/angle from which to tackle a role of this nature and size.
It definitely is! I know some actors tend to do that, even in video games where they know OF the character but don't watch anything involving them because it might affect how they bring it to life.
I think if you have a crew who knows the source material its fine, since that's the directors job.. To direct. And it clearly works, he's a very compelling character.
@@traviscue2099yep the director and people making the show need to be fans. The actors don’t need to be fans. I like Ewans approach. It seemingly worked since Aemond is one of the best characters put to screen in this series.
For Aemond it works but I think for the Aegon actor it was better to have watched Game of Thrones. An actor who wouldn't have seen it might just do a worse Joffrey or something yk. Other performances can inform yours by knowing what's missing and how to be unique for the audience Aegon's actor is so good
The desert thing Tom Glynn-Carney is talking about is probably SAS: Rogue Heroes, in which he was brilliant and one of my favorite characters as Mike Sadler of the Long Range Desert Group, a group of misfit soldiers with absolute balls of f**king steel during WWII, and one of the founding class of the British Special Air Service.
1:10 Damn, they really were on crack. And in 1:16 , Emma expressing a love for coffee but also with a shaky voice, as if coffee were about to disappear forever and Emma's begging it to stay 😂

Olivia's reaction to the cut sex scene ending up on the Blu Ray is killing me 😂😂😂
@believer3851well no shit it was a joke LMAO
I swear they picked the most chaotic ppl they could for this show
Needed to embody the chaos of House Targaryen.
The discussion about Rhaenyra's capes at 2:54 killed me. "Even turning a corner has drama."
Aegon‘s actor is so flirty and fun wow, I didn’t expect that
0:47 and that's how he got promoted from Lord Commander of the Kingsguard to The Tongue
SPOILER:
now he is both the tongue and the hand

I love Emma and Olivia, because they both have the energy of two golden retrievers put into one room they're absolutely FERAL it's amazing

Emma is such an adorable cheerful person and it makes me so happy. They have such a big happy smile.

A tad bit too much opium

I actually wish Anya would pop up in House of the Dragon.
It would be cool.
She looks like a Targaryen
She definitely needs to play a Targaryen in the future!
she freakin popped in in DUNE, if she can be an Atreides she should definitley be a targaryen
Omg tom glyn is absolute younger brother to ewan hahahahaha so chaotic energy
I love that Aegon’s actor is a Game of Thrones fan
Olivia Cook is so incredibly beautiful!
