Ryu has been actively instructing piano and music lessons for beginning to collegeprep level students ranging from three-years old to adult. In addition to her experience in teaching piano privately and in group settings, she has a firm background in percussion performance and education. After receiving a Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance in 2010, Ryu continued her education at California State University Fullerton with a Master of Arts in Piano Pedagogy, completed in her degree in 2012.
In addition to her performing career, she maintains an active career as a private piano teacher and an assistant band director at a public junior high school in Chino Hills. Her recent academic research titled, "The Role of the Piano in Grade School Classroom Music Instruction: Implementing Piano Pedagogy Methods to Meet the National Standards," demonstrates her significant interest in both piano pedagogy and general music education.
Her teaching philosophy centers around the concept of allowing flexibility in her teaching techniques based on the students' needs to help them meet their personal goals as a musician, and to satisfy a proper development for the student. She approaches each student professionally with the uniqueness they deserve. Throughout her performing, teaching and academic career, she accredits her teachers, family and God for her emerging success.
