  • The museum was founded in memory of all those young men who died on d-day in 1944. and you will find several dioramas and displays with genuine items collected over the years. I is well light and doesn't have any of the overblown mood lighting the modern museum are so fond of these day, It has a classic layout, great information, pictures and display cashed with items everywhere. It's pretty well lighted and doesn't have any of the overblown mood lighting the modern museum are so fond of these day, It has a classic layout, great information, pictures and display cashed with items everywhere. Outside you will find a Pak 43 88mm gun this gun would have been place in some of the bunker on Omaha and today you still can find one inside the bunker which is a 30 minute walk away from this museum.

    Great video of the museum for someone that has never been there or might never be able to visit. I would love to see that place, but probably never will. Thanks for sharing.

    great museum, I can confirmed it. I really love this kind of small but powerful museum, in terms of history and stuff to see. This kind of museum are really focus on history, not buisness, that's nice. It reminds me some other little known museums like the DDay Omaha, D-Day Collins Museum (new museum), or the Musée Cobra la Percée (focus on the Cobra operation, also a recent museum)

    Visited this museum last year and was a really powerful experience. Then walked along Omaha Beach to dog white at Vierville sure-mer and the remnants of the Mullberry. When this pandemic is over, put it on your travel list. It is incredibly thought provoking.

    I sadly drove past this museum on my visit too Normandy in 2018 as we had run out of time.I certainly hope to return to the area in the near future to see some of the sites we missed.

    I went to Omaha a few years ago, i am so sad i missed so many good places...
    for example, i didn't know about the Pak-43 in the bunker (and i walked right past it D:) , nor about that one bunker that was shot up by an M16 and out of all museums i could choose.. i went to the one that is very badly lit..

    • @PanzerPicture
      @PanzerPicture  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The M16 story is indeed interesting, I have been working on a video about that story.

      @jean-marie lebarbier Excuse me my grandfather, father, and three uncles served in WW2. I don't need any of your bullshit to know what I want or need to do. Were any of your relatives in the army or Resistance or were they collaborators? I do believe the allies helped free France, Belgium, The Netherlands, and other countries from the Nazis. Enough said.

    Any mention at the museum of the navy destroyers that destroyed German emplacements killing the soldiers on the beach and at he sea wall?

    • @PanzerPicture

      I can't really remember, because I visit so many places at once that I have really no idea.

      @@PanzerPicture .... when the morning fog lifted enough for the Destroyer captains to see what was going on those emplacements got hit with 5 inch and 40mm shells.

    I visited this museum in 2004. Watching your beautiful video I noticed have been made a lot of improvements. The main reason was probably to make it more interesting and competitive with other museums in Normandy.

      They changed a lot over the years, they have a big shop and the landing-craft is inside now.
