how am i only now getting a video that crosses over Counter-Strike, Blender, and anime tutorials... this video must be a gift from the heavens made exactly for me.
I really do hope this video gets out to more people. Your hard work deserves way more appreciation, and I'm really glad we got to take a look behind the scenes. Looking forward to your next project, I'm sure it's gonna be great!
It means a lot! I checked out your channel and I saw you also have an animation that took around a year to complete. I think you understand how much pai XD Thanks a lot for the comment, I am also looking forward to your next projects!
whoaaa this is amazing!!!! I want to creat an anime-inspired opening in Bledner and Grease Pencil, too! You're soooo good at modeling!!!!! The music is awesome!
It's not possible to achieve the hand drawn effects in the same ways i'm doing here because I am rendering my scene and drawing on top of it inside of a drawing software. (It can be done directly in Blender, but an external software was my personal preference) Doing the same same in game engines is more complicated because the rendering is done in real-time. This doesn't mean it's impossibile, just that this specific workflow I'm showcasing likely won't translate 1 to 1 But I have some ideas I can share. It's possible to bake the Blender Greace Pencil to a mesh (Gpencil --> Path --> Mesh). With a skin modifier and some manual adjustments I can see that as a viable way to create loose 3D outlines. You would need to bake the effect from every angle, though, so i can see it getting tricky; some geometry nodes knowledge would be really handy here. It's hard for me to go in detail because I haven't explored this myself, but the idea sounds interesting so I'll consider exploring it in the future in Unity / Unreal / whatever other engine A common way of creating outlines is through edge detection shaders or the inverted hull method, but I feel like both of these end up looking too clean to resemble a 2D illustration. Outlines aside, I think your best friend in terms of decorating the environments would be texture painting and clever usage of shaders. - Custom normals on Vegetation - Matcaps on windows (or any other way of making fake reflections) - Creating a custom Ambient Occlusion solution (look into Custom Render Passes in Unity / Unreal) In Unity (And maybe also in Unreal), if you bake your lightmaps you can find a texture of it and modify it. It should be an EXR file if I am not mistaken. For example, if you want to pixellate your shadows, you could bring the lightmap texture into photoshop, krita, gimp or whatever your preferred software is and apply a filter to it. It works the same with anything else you might want to do with it, you can make it look hand painted, you can do cross-hatching etc... etc... I know I didn't give you a concrete answer on how to do it, but it's 100% possible in one way or another. It's really hard to give a specific answer in this case (also because I didn't fully experiment with it myself), but I hope you found this comment helpful and if you have any questions you can just let me know!
Yes! It's very easy. I use a color ramp to determine where the shadows are. You can use this as a mask. Imagine that if your shadowed areas are completely dark and you multiply them with the outline, the outline shouldn't show in the shadows. You can use the same principle in reverse: invert the shadowed area and the area in light, multiply it and use this as a mask for the dark highlight. It's really hard to explain actually, so I will make a post on my channel about it so you can see the nodes. Just go on my channel --> Community and you should see an image soon!
No worries. But in case you are still wondering, I used Blender 3.67 LTS. I used this version because the project took a long time to make and updating mid-project can sometimes cause issues. Everything you saw should work perfecty in 4.0, though
I was like . . . "good video quality, deserve a li- WHY THE FUCK IS THERE FOCKING 30 likes here? WHich world am I in? What the fuck has I found???? 35 su-, no! 36!!! now!!! WHY the fuck??????? This channel is surely shadow banned"

Thank you! With enough time and practice you'll be able to do anything. I'm sure you can do it as well, don't give up!
absolutely amazing, I can't imagine the blood and tears that led to the production of this masterpiece.
Stay hydrated
SOOOO UNDERATED BRO, I thought u were like a big youtube w 100k
Thank you very much! Maybe one day!
Bro made a whole new project...simply astonishing!
Thank you, sir
Damn, that knife fight animation part was cool af! Well done!
Thanks!
Bro used 3D software to make 2D. Crazy !
thanks!
Informative! Subscribed!
Thank you!
Nice work! Thanks for sharing. Liked and subscribed.
Thank you for the sub and the like!
Thats so awesome
Thanks a lot!
Great contribution. Great tutorial. You have my like. Thank you so much. Greetings
Thank you very much! i apprecciate it
Wow you did great job👏👏
매우 감사합니다
Really cool.
thank you
Oh Gosh, that's the best game ever! CSGO
Peccat that CS2 cames out because it's antipatic versus CSGO
This is amazing and exactly what I wanted to go for! I have a question. Is it possible to do that hand-drawn pass thing in game engines?

2:36 Any tips for making the white lineart turn white only where there is light and black only where there are shadows?

Perhaps one day... could be fun to make an episode
Thats a lot of sticky notes

Great video, (are you using 4.0 blender version 'cause the nod "shadow to rgb" doesn't appears to me :( )
nm it was because I was on cycles
