Yes you can! The best order is the one you like the most :) The only constraints are field moves and the badges needed to use them, so Koga's badge for Surf and Misty's badge for Cut; beside them, any order is possible, and given that the gym's teams scale with how many badges you have, you will NOT encounter a pathetic situation like in Scarlet&Violet where they claim you can do them in any order but then you either get demolish or steamroll over them ^^

I really hope so! My goal was mostly preserve the mechanics, aesthetic, and general feeling of gen1, while at the same time improving, expanding, and deepening it, with tougher battles, QoL improvements, a deeper and darker plot, new areas, harder dungeons, and a variety of secrets, mysteries, options, and whatnot!
I got Pokémon Blue years ago and stopped part of the way through because it just felt so janky compared to modern Pokémon games, but this? I gotta try this! What a cool project!

I'm currently playing this game, i think it's great but needs more options to balance this kind of difficulty. All trainers have maxed stats pokemon, while you just have to grind a lot in that new place added in the game to get some decent evs, yet it looks like it's never enough. That's a lot frustrating honestly, also when you catch a new pokemon in order to use it effectively you must do all that grinding from zero. I don't like much this kind of difficulty, I prefer a more effective IA instead. Also the fact that the enemy reads all your moves and "predicts" the pokemon you are changing in is terrible. Is there a faster way to ev training? Also the ev stats screen is weird, i see only 2 numbers for stats that sometimes grow up and others go down, i don't understand it. The hack is good but could be improved and I hope you'll do so. Still good work!
Thanks for the feedbacks, this is a good example of a constructive criticism I like! I may not agree with all of your points, but I do appreciate you put in the effort to motivate your ideas and proposed improvements :) So, I understand what you mean about the grinding. Giving max DVs and Stat Exp is to balance the fact that, even if I DID improve the AI a LOT with respect to vanilla games, it is still definitely dumber than a human. To balance things a bit, I gave it a small edges in stats, and I LEFT the "perfect prediction" that is a vanilla gen1 unique thing -basically the AI chooses what to do AFTER you've chosen your move-. EV training is not something I really had in my mind as it does give you an edge, but not a gigantic one. I do have a system to max out DVs and Stat Exp, via the item Perfecter, but you can get only 1 before the League, and infinite afterwards. About the "EV" displayer: it's unfortunately a bit bugged :/ And quite tough to fix. It is MEANT to show a number from 0 to 63, as a kid in Viridian School explains, which corresponds to the next stat gain at level 100 (see Bulbapedia for the full formula). Unfortunately, for reasons still not clear to me, it just works bleah for some values... So I may actually just make it display the actual in-game Stat Exp (0 to 65535), which should be much more straightforward, but less intuitive to read. Oh, about grinding! I heard quite a few suggestions about easening the level grinding, so I think I'll add an "Infinite Candy" (or "Cheat Candy") in the next release, i.e. a Rare Candy infinitely re-usable. Thanks for the feedbacks! I hope you're still having a good time with EY despite its imperfections :) P.S.: you can join the Discord server if you wish, for further discussions about the game!
@@RainbowMetalPigeon Thank you a lot, yeah I think it would be much better to add evs exactly as they are, I really have no idea about how to interpret those 2 numbers, but i guess the max I should read is 63 if i grind a lot. On the other hand, the story and world exploration is absolutely great. If I may give you an advice, I suggest you to optimize the item menu and storage a bit. And also something about helping the player to use pokemon found later in the game without too much grinding (remove limits of each vitamin per stat is possible?), just to not let the player give up, and help him instead in experimenting the usage of new pokemon and strategies. Level grinding is not that much of a problem thanks to the rematch system, but of course if you could add ways of getting rare candies it would be great. But I get is not easy to change many gen 1 mechanics. As I said before, thanks for the work, the game is great!
P.S. I forgot to ask you one thing: does the exp share allows other pokemon of the party to earn the stat experience as the pokemon who fights as in modern games? I saw the stats ev raising in pokemon that didn't fight so I think yes but I want to be sure about it 😅
you can add the blastoise sprite from the first version of red and blue like that of charizard too because those of the yellow version are not beautiful, thank you very much

That was THE WORST Blastoise I ever used on any playthrough.

It has a super-low catch rate, so you need quite a bit of luck, it's tougher than Mewtwo to catch!

EV training is not something I really had in my mind as it does give you an edge, but not a gigantic one. I do have a system to max out DVs and Stat Exp, via the item Perfecter, but you can get only 1 before the League, and infinite afterwards.
About the "EV" displayer: it's unfortunately a bit bugged :/ And quite tough to fix. It is MEANT to show a number from 0 to 63, as a kid in Viridian School explains, which corresponds to the next stat gain at level 100 (see Bulbapedia for the full formula). Unfortunately, for reasons still not clear to me, it just works bleah for some values... So I may actually just make it display the actual in-game Stat Exp (0 to 65535), which should be much more straightforward, but less intuitive to read.
Oh, about grinding! I heard quite a few suggestions about easening the level grinding, so I think I'll add an "Infinite Candy" (or "Cheat Candy") in the next release, i.e. a Rare Candy infinitely re-usable.

@@RainbowMetalPigeon Thank you a lot, yeah I think it would be much better to add evs exactly as they are, I really have no idea about how to interpret those 2 numbers, but i guess the max I should read is 63 if i grind a lot. On the other hand, the story and world exploration is absolutely great. If I may give you an advice, I suggest you to optimize the item menu and storage a bit. And also something about helping the player to use pokemon found later in the game without too much grinding (remove limits of each vitamin per stat is possible?), just to not let the player give up, and help him instead in experimenting the usage of new pokemon and strategies.
Level grinding is not that much of a problem thanks to the rematch system, but of course if you could add ways of getting rare candies it would be great.
But I get is not easy to change many gen 1 mechanics.
As I said before, thanks for the work, the game is great!
P.S. I forgot to ask you one thing: does the exp share allows other pokemon of the party to earn the stat experience as the pokemon who fights as in modern games? I saw the stats ev raising in pokemon that didn't fight so I think yes but I want to be sure about it 😅
you can add the blastoise sprite from the first version of red and blue like that of charizard too because those of the yellow version are not beautiful, thank you very much
For every single mon, I personally cherry-picked my favourite sprite between Green, Blue, and Yellow. Most of them ended up being from Blue ^^

@@RainbowMetalPigeon I got it Pigeon. Man that was some league I just had whoo hoo! I am really concerned about Blastoise though. Did you legit just nerf the heck out of its stats that the player gets and then proceed to max stat the evs, ivs and dvs of the a.i. trainer's mons? Becuase the Blastoise I had sucked ass! That was THE WORST Blastoise I ever used on any playthrough.

I'm not questioning the vision, it's just that it seems extremely difficult to pull off, because every rom hack of Yellow I ever saw either don't bother with it or, when it does, it breaks the game to the point of being unplayable.
@@theazurehawk310 well, Yellow is peculiar because of the following un-evolvable Pikachu! So I didn't see any reason to remove such feature. If you want to catch and evolve your normal Pikachu, there are in Viridian Forest :)
