These are so good Erin even bought a pair for himself.
Can't wait for the review, these are very high on my list for my next speakers.
I just have to say, laughing out loud at the “Delivery Driver” insert. 😂
Well done. Nice speakers!
Thanks!
For $5k that's like kinda a " sweet spot" for high-end speakers, but for same price Focal Aria Evo speakers puts these and other brands to shame! I love Focal! Hope you guys might start caring Focal.
Thanks Adrian, this is one of your best unboxing I’ve see, perhaps because I’m seriously thinking about getting a pair 😀. Can’t wait for your review, so I will probably get a pair before your verdict is out.
Walnut would be my choice, but would prefer black grills just because light colors are distracting to me. Hope I would be able to separately buy black grills.
Buy them! 😈
Thanks!
Beautiful speakers!
Agreed!
Well done, Adrian, another superb unboxing video😂👌👍
Thanks Shane
=) I love to see the joy of unboxings =)
lol, we both need a life!
Thanks Adrian. Looking forward to all the reviews of this speaker based on the first impressions from show goers that these are truly outstanding performers at their price point. Looks like Andrew Jones has another hit on his hands. Definitely on my radar as a possible future speaker upgrade.
Thank you! Looking forward to doing the review
From an aesthetic perspective, white grilles would be more appropriate with lighter color finishes, such as a maple wood veneer or white paint.
You should start your comments with “IMO”
@@ponch0068 Agreed. FWIW, I personally would prefer a retro oatmeal tweed colour like on the recent KLH 5s, etc.
I really like that contrasting light coloured grill.... It makes the speaker look more modern I think.
yes I agree
Great! Need a review. Please compare to Sourcepoint 10! Thanks!
Will do
Looks good but will it be better than others at this price point?
Will soon find out
Unboxing videos are far better than uncrating, IMHO😅
lol
From your video it seems tweeter is slightly off center due to bad manufacturing. Is it true ?
I don't see this
Think outside the box 📦
That is the same two delivery drivers that dropped off a delivery for me the other day, what a coincidence, what's the chances of that hey..
lol
Based on all the reviews I have seen, these should fly out of stores rather quickly. But looks like the Canadian distributor charges more than in the US (even accounting for the exchange rate difference).
I believe Canadians have a pretty stout import tax. Like 20%.
@@damonmaddox1313Yup, raised front 15% in ‘22.
@@damonmaddox1313 A lot of times the differences in prices between USA and Canada (even taking into account exchange rates) is that a USA manufacturer may ship directly to USA dealers, but in Canada they may go through a Canadian distributor first, which is an extra layer of distribution. Or maybe the USA distributor has more efficient economy of scale than a Canadian distributor.
A fixation with cardboard is normal…the sound of styrofoam is beautiful…Christmas morning comes early…
Yup!!
@@adrianlow2114 Keep the case cutter blades sharp…
Don't know if it matters but the crossover parts are the cheapest around.
They may not be the most expensive, but I guarantee you they are not the cheapest. You must work for the competition, or a retailer that doesn't sell MoFi speakers.
@@Mark-rw3kw You cannot guarantee it. And you're also wrong about me being a retailer. I'm just someone who is interested in these speakers and has seen the crossover parts of the Sourcepoint 8 and they are indeed the cheapest money can buy.
@@cremersalex I don’t believe you that the parts are the cheapest money can buy. Anyway you should spend more time listening to speakers rather than disassembling them.
@@Mark-rw3kw I know you don't believe that. In fact, you can guarantee it!
@@cremersalex You sound like a GR Research groupie.
those are kinda affordable
Yes, definitely appears to be an incredible buy
Nothing is FedEx proof. It’s just a challenge for them
Chinese crxp.
Ugly and I hear there were QA problems with the bookshelves.
Adrian, safety first, please put back your gloves with this knife and never cut towards you like you did on the first cut. Or next time, you title it: The Stephen King’s Unboxing….ta-ta-ta….TATA….
yes, good point!
Looks like last generation of emotiva speakers and still has junk crossover parts.😢
Crossover is easy to upgrade if there is a number on the crossover parts for what they should be then just order the same number in a better brand.
@@Albet27it’s a $5k speaker. It should not be filled with crap.
@@alexw890 Not really since a capacitor can cost over $500 and things aren't free these days.
The markup for audio components sits between 30-70%, it all depends on what one values as important. People who have excess funds normally don't care of the cost vs value proposition. They are convinced by a salesperson that want is a necessity. 99% of videos like this are extremely biased because this company or that only carries the brands that provide that are profitable and they switch brands because either the brand drops them or they simple are not profitable. Gryphon dumped the whole North American market a few years ago. Industry insiders have some knowledge of the inner workings and all are not ethical.
Till you hear a product and audition it in your own living space you have no clue it will perform for you and suit your tastes. Buyer beware.
Many of the crossover parts in the sourcepoint 8 are of the cheaper kind (gr research covered this). That’s not the case for the sourcepoint 888, it’s more sophisticated and built with higher end components. If you look at the show coverage of this speaker you’ll find that many were extremely impressed with the speaker, especially given its cost. There may be still parts to upgrade like the binding posts and internal wiring, but the crossover parts are around $800 so not at all cheap 🌟
They look cheap.
They are a little bit bulky looking, like the other MoFi speakers. If you want sleek cabinets made from carbon fiber or machined aluminum, be prepared to pay 5-10X what these cost for the same sound quality. But it is real wood veneer and not bad looking IMO. I prefer to listen to speakers in a darkened room, so these would not bother me at all, given the extremely good sound for the money. Or one could could go with a MoFi 8 and add one or two subwoofers.
They are actually really well made
