As a Father of two young girls, I am in awe of this song. I want my ladies to grow up in search of someone who will love, respect and treat them right. Not only do I apply this to my girls, but it causes me to evaluate my own relationship with my wife. I don't want to be equals. I want to treat my wife with the love and respect she deserves. Although that's usually the case, there's certainly always room for improvement. I grew up watching my Father's unconditional love for my Mother. He said things like, "Yes dear", "Whatever makes you happy love", and was always there to comfort my Mom in times of uncertainty. I think this song is a great creed for young girls to adopt. Don't be arrogant or unreasonable,,, but certainly maintain high expectations for the person you hope to spend your life with...

As for my own relationship, it's fine. I could probably use some more of this advice though! I feel the same about the song as I did 8 years ago. 🙂

I hate it when people take her songs so seriously .-. She's obviously just having fun with the lyrics. I think the lyrics are funny, like at the lyrics "Always apologize" and "You know I'm always right." IMO I don't care if there is stereotypical stuff in this song (I'm a girl). I see she's trying to have fun so I have no offense in this and anyways, if you get stereotyped as a girl in your life time, prove those people wrong. You can't fall into a trap because people try to bait you when they stereotype you. I used to get mad over stereotypes but there are people in this world you can't change and you just have to deal with it.

Like when couples say I love you when they say goodbye or goodnight. Buying flowers on your anniversary isn't hard either. It's remembering your anniversary that a girl cares about. To know that that was one of the happiest moments in your life, next to your mother giving you life and Christmas, and that you want to celebrate it with her. Apologising after a fight? Yeah, it hurt's your pride, and I do agree she should say sorry too, but it doesn't matter if you're wrong or right. You're apologising for letting the argument get that far, and you're sincere because you don't want it to happen again.

I really like this girl, but I disagree with these lyrics. I know she's tryning to portray an ordinary pair but I don't think a mature relationship should mean he has to treat you like a princess and forgive everything you do. I know loving sometimes mean you tolerate other's mistakes, but it should be mutual. You can't expect a man to give you more than you are willing to give. You can like classic details like flowers and so on but in the end a relationship is a lot more than that. She's free to have her dream of a perfect marriage but in real life it should be different.
I agree that it's a bad message. Holding doors open/paying for dinners all the time is more condescending than respectful to women, in my opinion.

I wish all music was like this! I love the 1950's style so much. I just think that pretty much all music on the radio now sounds the same. The songs have no originality to them and are emotionless, they have no meaning because it is all computerized... I say we should leave behind that stuff because it is so overused. No, I actually spend a lot of time listening to old 50's songs, and learning about the time period from my grandma. I don't really watch movies or TV very often, so thinking it is the 50's from them is very unlikely. It is not exactly like the 1950's, I understand, but it has a certain feel to it, but it has a modern twist to it as well. And not to sound rude, but a lot people on the internet could care less about the past from what I see and hear, so really, in my opinion, I do not sound like "everyone". The internet can be a very close minded place at times, no offense to anyone. Now, I just hope this doesn't escalate to one of those oh-so-popular comment arguments...
Kiera Prizel well, I can't argue about what you said about the the 1950's but you are like a lot of people on the internet. As in you like the old stuff and you were, in a sense, "born in the wrong generation"
How is this original if it sounds like a song from the 50's? Copying a sound from another time period is as un-original as it gets. I'm guessing what you ment is you wish more artists made new songs that sound like they came from the 50's. I agree that music has lost a lot of emotion and feeling these last couple years but we need to look forward to be original not backwards. Then we'll just be the generation that took from others.
